Well, I didn't get over my major nerves until I got in the water, then I felt pretty good. I did the try a tri as my first race and finished 16/21. Made some mistakes that I learned from for next time and that I need to work on transitions, running speed, and pushing myself more.
All in all a great day. I am now looking forward to my next race- Welland July 1st.
Thanks for all the words of encouragement and congratulations to all. Completing any form of a triathlon is a major personal achievement.

Try a Tri Finished 143/227.

It was my first and I LOVED IT.

The swim kicked my butt.  I did everything wrong.  Got in the water for my wave#2.  Since this is my first tri and OWS with a wetsuit, I stayed back and to the outside.  I was not going to rush and just swim my swim.  They announce "2 minutes".  I see a wide hole further up in the middle.  I leave my nice little safe back and outside spot to go closer to the front and middle.  The horn blows, I take off, excellent start....body asks for more air.....can't give it more.  Struggle to finish swim.

Bike was fine.  I could have easily given more on the run but was unsure.

1st Tri and 60+lbs too much equipement(fat).  I am happy with my finish.  I really have to work on the swim, and equipement, which I will be doing.

I was happy with the event planning.  Nothing to compare it to, but liked it, the venue and would do it again.

I will get some photos up.

Oh Yeh, I am hooked.  Next registared race is The Niagra Sprint July 22nd, then Toronto Island Sprint followed by a Montreal Oly, which I may change to a sprint depending on my swim progress.  I am thinking of doing the HBC Run for Canada 10k.  It might be tough for me to fit it in on July 1st.

and thanks Rich for the kind words.

Hi Bill
Congrats on your great race in Milton! The Niagara Tri is local to me so I may do it too. Our tri group does our group rides in Grimsby area. The sprint route includes Park Hill. If it's possible, you may want to take a few practice runs up it if you haven't before. I wouldn't want that climb to be a surprise to anyone in a race situation.
Gotta' go run now.....

Congratulations to everyone!

Why don't you think about doing the Brampton race? Drawing for some incredible prizes, trips and gear!

It's a sprint on a very flat course, go to our web site for more details, c3online.ca

You have no idea how hard it is for me to have to pass on this.... unfortunately... 4 more weeks in air cast and probably 6 weeks after that NO running. I probably won't be able to do GL 2 like I want to either. I know for a fact that even running the bike thru the transition area yesterday was the longest 100m of my life.... .

I hope you haveĀ a GREAT turn out for this race geoffs.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I've just started to run after a 2 month lay off. I know what your going through, take care.

BTW, Wassaga beach is a great race that you could probably do.

I did the Sprint at Wasaga last year (although it turned into a Du because of the high waves). It's a great venue and well run event. I'm thinking that it will be my Olympic distance debut. Hopefully I'll be trained a little better by then.

For my 1st tri start ever, I had a lot of fun.
Due to my partially torn ligament in the foot, cautiously retired after T2.
but 15mn43 for the swim and 51mn01 for the bike (after biking 115k the day before) is not too bad. Since I am a runner, I missed on my best event.
Great learning experience especially the swim!!!
Could not find my bike during T1. did not realize that there were 2 racks for 35-39.
So when I went to the wrong one, I was baffled not to see my stuff. For 3mn48s for T1! Ouch!!!

See you in Muskoka!
