Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Eek!! I was really enjoying reading this thread until I saw spokes' spooky picture. I see the smack talk has commenced. My name is Melissa and I'm fairly new to the boards here. I've not done a tri yet, but it's something I've wanted to do for quite some time. Another dream/goal I have is to complete a half marathon. I was training for one a couple of years ago and had to drop out about 7 weeks before the event due to developing PF. My mileage for this challenge will be predominantly walking with bits of running/jogging thrown in here and there. I'm just shy of being 6 months post-op from a multi-level spinal fusion, so I'm just really getting going with exercise again. I'm down for 20 miles. I'm hoping to actually hit about 25, but I figured better to be a bit conservative on my goal and surpass it than to be overly optimistic and miss meeting it. My plan for this week is to go to the gym every day when I get off work. I'm planning to break up the week with walk/running 3 days and elliptical or bike on the other 2 days. I'm planning to do and outdoor longer walk on the weekend, but I'm not sure which day yet. |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread LOL - You guys were sure busy posting in the time I was trying to get mine written up and posted. That'll teach me to wander away mid-post. I forgot to mention earlier that I'm friends with MrsUSMC and we're doing a 5k together on Thanksgiving Day. I'm hoping that doing this challenge will help keep me on track with my training. |

It's great that you guys know each other and have a common race to shoot for. |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I think he meant the women on the Black Magic team. I think we (all the women here) just got dissed. Perhaps it's time for us to go spooking at the "homes" of the other teams and throw a few eggs of our own. ;) Edited by BunnyB 2007-10-01 7:09 PM |

I'm better at Karate than running, so if you manage to catch me, watch out! LOL Way to go on the 4.5 Judi! I'm seeing a whole new side of you! I like it, I like it!!! LOL |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread So, I did my first 25 min of the challenge - it was what I had planned for today after my swim. 'Ran' to the Goo Goo Dolls - 'Dizzy up the Girl' The time actually went by pretty fast |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Nice running there. Yanti must have been reading my (rant) blog lately because I vent a lot of stuff about unnamed people and insane situations at work. Fo those who don't knoe me from other thread/challenges I am currently an ER RN (applied for something else the other day but not sure if I really want it or just the hours of Mon-Fri dayshift and not having to figure out my weekends off/on for races) So that means at least 3 of us have gotten in some of our run time/distance today...Good work team! |

Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I got in 3 miles at the gym today, around the track. 12 laps is a mile, so it can get a little tedious. Ran to various things on my iPod but tried to stick with fast paced songs, such as the techno version of "We're In Heaven" which makes me think of happy college summer - and all the very naughty things I did No pics, cuz the gym is boring. |

Veteran 241 Houston, Texas | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread Hey all I'm Ross and I LOVE running. Or that's what I'm telling myself anyway. My goal is 20 miles for the month training up to the Monster tri on the 28th. I've worked up from not being able to run at all to being able to run reallly reaaaalllly sloowly for a while. So this is something I need to work on and can use all the short term goals like this to meet my long term goals. In October of 2005, I was 315lbs, and decided I wanted to see my kids later in their lives so I started walking, lost some weight and now am 260. I did my first tri at the Texasman last month I was dfl for my age group but I finished. Now lets get out there, work up a sweat and kick some booty. |

Expert 1112 I'm a Tennessee girl living in SoCal. | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread I made it to the gym after work. I almost wimped out and didn't go because I didn't get out of the office on time, but I decided to just suck it up, put on my big girl panties, and go to the gym anyway! I'm really glad I did because I felt GREAT after getting in a workout. I got in 1.7 miles in 34 minutes which included a total of 9 minutes for warm-up and cool-down. In the 25 minutes at pace, I got in 22 minutes of walking and 3 total minutes of running and covered a distance of 1.3 miles. I'm slow, but I did it. So, that's 1.7 down and 18.3 to go for me. I normally wear my iPod when I'm working out, but I forgot my earbuds at home this morning. I had my Nano, just no way to listen to it. So, no music or podcasts for me tonight. Instead, I watched part of the Monday Night Football game, but couldn't hear any of it since I didn't have a radio to tune into that signal either. I definitely need to pick up a spare set of earbuds to keep in the car for times such as these. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: The Things That Go Bump In The Night Team Thread All right gang, lets get running...I think about half of us got in some of our time/distance yesterday. Today was a swim day for me and I'm on call tomorrow afternoon (which means if there are 60 pts in the ER I may have to stay even if all my co-workers show up and yesterday we had 60 pts in the department at 3 PM when I got off) Definitely running Thurs/Fri before working the weekend. Planning on a Sun AM run pre church if Saturdays 12 hr shift doesn't wipe me out |

Speaking of, my coach told me this with my current training schedule -- fits for all of you, too: "You’re an athlete and have been but this new run thing – what a thrill!!!!" I'll do it, since I did get nominated, unless Gail wants to do it too. But she is already our official "cheerleader/drill seargant", so it'd be up to her. Otherwise, I'll manage the spreadsheet. Everyone can smalk talk all they want |
