Apparently, offense was taken to my statement "I think it [sandbagging] happens a lot around here. Easy goals are lame." I've been around BT for awhile and been in a lot of challenges. I do think people sandbag. That doesn't mean everyone who finishes early sandbags. Also, easy goals are lame. Do you disagree? Make it a challenge. If your goal wasn't easy, it doesn't count under my statement. |

Artemis - 2007-10-24 1:10 PM Apparently, offense was taken to my statement "I think it [sandbagging] happens a lot around here. Easy goals are lame." Make it a challenge. If your goal wasn't easy, it doesn't count under my statement. I agree easy goals are lame, but that is quite a subjective statement. My goal wasn't easy considering my condition, but it appears that my body was responding much better later on. Unless we know the person and all other personal variables, I wouldn't know if their goal is lame or not. I see that your goal is 35 miles, correct? That to me, if I was someone who didn't care about my fellow BTer, would be considered lame. However, I checked your log and noticed your minute per mile pace, your injury notices, and your mileage reports, it appeared that you considered a reasonable goal. BTW - I liked your Oct. 21, sherpa. I hope everyone reaches their goal! Keep it going, folks! Edited by 1stTimeTri 2007-10-24 2:59 PM |

However, I checked your log and noticed your minute per mile pace, your injury notices, and your mileage reports, and you made a reasonable goal. BTW - I liked your Oct. 21, sherpa. It can be subjective and it's not just as simple as looking at someone's goal and saying it's lame. If I looked at someone's log and saw that they typically run 100+ miles a month and their challenge goal was 50, I would say that's easy and lame. In your case (and mine), our goals weren't necessarily easy because of other factors. Not covered under the lame clause. My statement in the team thread really wasn't directed at anyone specifically. Well, it was directed at a person who make goals for challenges that are too easy. Didn't have a person or team in mind. And thanks on the sherpa bit. Edited by Artemis 2007-10-24 3:02 PM |

I, for one, am not a runner - never have been, even though I am in otherwise great shape. I pledged 50 miles, which is A LOT for me. Yeah, we have some lower pledges on our team, but we also have people who are just starting out and the fact that they're participating is admirable. The goal, as others have said, is to make a plan and stick to it, nothing more, nothing less. I am proud of my teammates, as they should be of themselves. Seriously, no one was actually accusing anyone of sandbagging except those that are actually filling actual bags with actual sand. Those people are total freakin' sandbaggers. Otherwise, it was merely smack talk. I'm proud that everyone in this challenge had the bollocks to step up and make a commitment to start or continue a healthy lifestyle. If only the other 99% of the population had such courage... Geez, I have never seen someone backtrack so bad in my life. Are you shaving miles off your total for the pull back here? I just upped my goal this morning. How about you? Or are you Id, ego and superego in conference right now. Will get back shortly. For the record the id is the dominant generally. What did you up it? Why am I picturing the Animal House Angel/Devil scene right now? 10 miles - from 80 to 90. Alright, I am deeming myself a puss here cuz I havent snapped back from my last race like I was hoping. Let this AMs run be a barometer and throwing another 10 might be too much cuz I am dragging azz these days. So yes, I am chicken. If I do end up doing anything over 125 this month, I will dedicate them to you but the past 90 days or so seems to have kicked my azz royal. |

Head Donk, sir, I think you have been pushing yourself a little too much recently, so the puss meter has been thrown away. As the Eagles sang, "Take It Easy". |

Yet another Ironman pi$$ing and moaning about their October Run Challenge goals. When will it end? Oh the humanity!!! Much like Phil, you need to get those injuries healed dude!
