Next...

Hi, I'm Bill.  The first time I got on a road bike was in the Spring of 2006 because the doc said it'd be an great activity for rehab.  In May 2005 they stuck a few screws and a donor PCL in my right knee.  Then, in August of '06, I was cleared to do anything, which basically meant that I could start running.  Sooooo... I trained for and ran a marathon in New Orleans in February '07.  One thing lead to another, and since I've been a pretty good swimmer my whole life, I decided tris would be fun (they were).  I did three of them this past summer, my very first tri season.  The most memorable to date was the ocean swim with the jellyfish in Sandestin, FL.

As for cycling, I'm pretty much a cold weather wimp (my definition of cold is definitely defined by my 26 years in Mississippi), so I've been slaaaaaaaacking in the saddle over the winter.  It's time to kick it back up, since there's also rumors of crit races in the ol' college town early in April.  I think I'd like to give those a try, so I need to start turning the cranks.

Happy New Year, team T.I.T.S.

Bluejack here, AKA Steve.  I'm a surgeon working at the VA in Augusta, GA. Divorced father of one 3 year old named Nick.  I started running and cycling in the fall of 2005 and did my first sprint in March 2006. I got hooked and finished IMAZ 4/2007.  I race all different distances.  This year I plan to work on losing some weight, getting faster and racing rahter than surviving IMFL.

Looks like I'm up next!

I'm Andrew, 25 years old, work for a running store in San Diego. Last summer was my first summer where I actually trained for a triathlon and now I am addicted. I was a runner before and also played a lot of sports. Now I'm training for my first HIM which will be Wildflower on May 3rd! I absolutely love training for triathlons, it is great. My training plans for this year are on a whole different planet from last year though and it's going to be a great challenge to see if I can do it. My training plan is calling for way more biking than I have ever done so I'm using this challenge to help me get off to a good start.

Yay T.I.T.S.

Subject: RE: Team T.I.T.S.
Hi teamates: I'm Sandi and I live in Hillsboro, OR with my husband and 5 dogs (no kids). Both my husband and I are workaholics and in 2005 my Dr told me I had high blood pressure. She gave me a year to get it under control with diet and exercise, or she would put me on meds (I hate meds). So I started riding my bike over the summer (the one that had hung in the garage since 2000 when I bought it). Come fall I was looking for another exercise option since it gets dark here early in the evening. I picked up a book on triathlon at the local bookstore. I can bike and swim okay and I can tolerate runnning so I decided to give it a shot. I did 4 sprint distance triathlons in 2006 and 3 sprint and 2 olympic distance triathlons in 2007. My goal for 2008 is to qualify for USAT Age Group Nationals (Olympic distance). Like Max, I move up an age group this year (F50-54).

I'm an engineer and work for a semiconductor manufacturing company. When I'm not working, I train, spend time with my husband and our dogs as well as provide a foster home for shelter animals that are waiting to be adopted. It sometimes gets crazy around our house with all of the dogs. The most we have ever had at one time is 11 (6 dogs and 5 puppies).

I got a new bike for Christmas and it was reasonably nice out today (as far as Oregon goes in the winter time), so I took it out for a spin. Logged 80 minutes (19 miles). Nothing like a little wind and a few hills to bring one back to reality (boy is my butt sore!!)

Hi everyone!

I'm Gill and I live in the UK (in Berkshire near Reading if you know the UK). That's important because it means I keep odd hours on the forums and I'm not usually around to "chat".

I started tri in 2006 having watched my husband participate the previous year. I only did 2 (1 sprint and 1 leg of an olympic relay) but I loved it. I kind-of come from a running background but with dodgy knees, so the training balance is fantastic for me and I discovered that I really like swimming.

I've taken the last 18 months or so off from tri to have a baby (our first, now 8 months old) and then got back into training to get back into shape. I love the BT challenges because they're a great way for me to stay motivated and also talk about tri - I don't really know many other triathletes and although I've joined a local tri club, so far all I can do there is the swimming training and I'm still getting to know people.

I work in marketing in the IT industry and between that and DD, I'm kept pretty busy. My challenge with getting T.I.T.S. is that the weather is really crummy in the UK in January (way too much rain) and I can only realistically cycle at weekends. I'm getting DH to set up the turbo trainer at the weekend so hopefully that will cancel out the rain excuse but I basically need all the help I can get.

The good news for you guys is that I am tougher on myself for a team challenge than I am individually so my 4 hours will happen. (And I know that sounds like a tiny amount, but I'm just getting back in the saddle.)

Really looking forward to talking to you all!

Gosh, don't apologize for your goals.  Everyone here is at a different level.  Some are training for ironman races and some are just starting to get off the couch.  The point is to challenge yourself and set a goal that you will feel proud to accomplish.  Good luck!

Howdy yourself! Also PMed you ... click on this thread, post what your goal is for the month (either swimming, biking or running and units in either distance or time) ... I assume since you're here you want to do X hours or minutes of biking? Love to have you!

Woooo hoooo...more team members, welcome to the nut house.  Most of us are just a little bit this side of maximum on the Silly Meter, so plug in your goal hours that you want to ride.  I think Dee or Beth can also add you to the spreadsheet.

Got in an additional aerobic 30 minutes today so 2 days into the month and I'm at 12% of my goal hours!  Yay!

Woo-hoo, another member, T.I.T.S. just got bigger, that's always a good thing!

So after not getting anything done yesterday due to hangover and massive soreness from the previous couples days training I finally got some bike trainer time in this morning. I added on some extra time from what I had planned to start making up for the missed time yesterday also.

6.25% done, practically there!!!

Hi I'm Don(to) and I have a problem!

Welcome to the newbies or those I haven't teamed up with before, I've done my share of challenges! My BT born-on was Feb 04 and I'm at 12.5 tri's completed (1 crash and burn) including 1 HIM and 1 long course (1.5x oly). I'm a father of 2 (8 YO boy and 6 YO girl ) and married to a wonderful woman who's into running & strength classes at the Y. We're down to 1 pet in the family after moving to FL with 4, Simon (nicknamed Slimon), is our sweetheart of an Australian Shepard. Currently a business partner in a telephony test lab and hoping we can make it through year #8.

I live in FL so my excuses are pretty limited for not doing any training. Today I have a good one though, it's too freaking cold out for this FL boy! 39F this AM when I woke up, I wasn't getting on the bike to head into work, no sir!

Trust me I tried hard to get some T.I.T.S. this AM but it wasn't in the plans I guess, LOL!

Calvin & Hobbes, it's been awhile!

Welcome, welcome, one and all, to handling as much T.I.T.S. as you possibly can in a month!

As for me ... T.I.T.S. = Time to Introduce The Self

I'm Yanti, and I am a problem. Or so I keep getting told! I do have the delightful distinction of riding the bike that I actually learned, as an adult, how to ride on (see below). The cruiser bars were an add-on b/c I could not steer with drop bars. I purchased it a week before my first triathlon, which I did with giant strawberries on my knees from learning how to ride it.

I'm therefore still in the initial-years process of building up a good bike base, and 27 hours this month will certainly help. (Actually, that's 26.6 now ... I thoroughly enjoyed T.I.T.S. secretly today--I am not supposed to ride outside yet, due to a slipped disc in my neck, but having my T.I.T.S. out in the open today was so nice ... warm and lovely and pink in near-sunset dusk).

If you haven't stopped by my blog yet, I'll have you know my T.I.T.S. are for HIM ... California 70.3 on March 29.

Here's to a fantastic team and lots of wild riding deep in the saddle!!!
