Veteran 283 Racine, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread I received an email from WTC today with links to 1) Results page on www.ironmanracine.com 2) ASI photo website where photos will be posted in the next few days 3) My official Ironman 70.3 finishers certificate. I'm guessing that everyone else either already has or will be receiving a very similar email. I'm pretty sure the results will be posted on www.onlineraceresults.com. Thanks to everyone who cheered and volunteered at IM Racine 70.3!!! |

Veteran 283 Racine, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread SHLD2005 - 2011-07-19 10:41 AM My Dad made a mention we were swimming into a 15 knot current but I told him he was CRAZY. It definitely felt like we were swimming into a very slight current, but I don't think it was 15 knots. According to onlineconversion.com, 15 knots = 17.26 MPH. Definitely sounds like an Endless Pool situation to me. |

Regular 84 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread My summary of race day. Swim was perfect! My fastest time for 1.2 miles. 47 minutes and I didn't panic! Actually was smiling in T1. It went downhill from there and fast. Mile 5 on the bike my stomach started giving me issues, thought I just needed to eat. Nope, by mile 10 my mph just kept getting slower and slower. By mile 12 I had dry heaved once. Wanted to quit then. I somehow made it to mile 41 on the bike without eating anything but 3 protein balls. Couldn't keep my bike straight so decided to end my day a mile 41. Nice ride to transition area in the ambulance, yes, lights and sirens were on, not the way I wanted to see the finish line. IV did wonders for me. This is my first DNF ever. MEDICAL STAFF WAS AMAZING!!!!! Hopefully, I will have the confidence to try for a 4th 70.3. I have been lucky to have made it through 2 without any issues. I am just going to blame in on the weather man! Congrats to all who survived! |

Expert 821 Golden, CO | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread How much fun was that!! I had a great swim for me..then a decent bike. I drank about 190 ounces of fluids and when I got off the bike I knew I was dehydrated. Saw two other bikers who were just hanging it up in the transition area and not going into the run. I saw a ton of people walking and thought I would walk the first mile since my heart rate seemed very high for a walking pace. Tried to run a few time and the heart rate spiked. I knew at that point there was no way I was going to run and be able to finish.- I have had dehydration issues before. Found a ton of "walking mates" and did the run 30 minutes slower then my "possible worst time" Finished and went right to the med tent for two IVs. Actually felt pretty darn good on monday except for these blisters on my feet from walking in shoes that were completely soaked from going under hoses etc.. It was a blast. |

Veteran 478 Hoosier heartland | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Regarding the swim. When I did my race report, the auto calculations had my speed at 2:04/100yards, but ironman.com had my speed at 2:18/100yards. What does that mean? Regardless, it was my best swim ever!!! Despite, the heat and humidity this was a wonderful first HIM experience. The volunteers and residents were outstanding. Yes, the run was brutal. A lot of carnage on the streets. Hope everyone is healing and recuperating. |

When I did my race report, the auto calculations had my speed at 2:04/100yards, but ironman.com had my speed at 2:18/100yards. What does that mean? I *think* it's the difference of meters vs yards. The BT defaults to yards, since a yard is shorter than a meter, you get to 100 yards more quickly. |

Extreme Veteran 996 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread FYI The results are now on onlineraceresults.com. Also: Hi Denise,
Thank you for the follow up. You are correct there were 2150 registered for the event and only 1740 finishers. We had about 100 DNF the event.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Sincerely, So, if this is correct, there were 1840 actual racers. |

Thanks for the heads up that the results are available in their entirety. Pretty pathetic that we have to go to a secondary vendor for complete race results. Same as last year...the "official ironman" web experience is second rate.

Extreme Veteran 612 Chicago-ish | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread onlineraceresults.com only shows results for those who finished the entire race. I was hoping to see how many others ended up dropping out in my AG (along with me) and at what point. Can't find that on either site. Phooey. The medics were great though. One of the fire department guys let me borrow his cell phone to call the hubs at home so he wouldn't worry when my bike split never appeared. They also let me hang in the air conditioned ambulance while waiting for the sag van to show up and haul me back to transition. Which reminds me, did anyone else see the three car pile-up on the expressway by the second aid station? Someone was gawking at the race and several cars crashed and spun out. It diverted all the aid station personnel so if anyone got stuck waiting for a medic that's why. |

Ask them to send you the info you want. I got a quick response. Maybe if they get enough requests they will realize they need to make that info available. |

I was looking for that info early on, and since they make it so hard to find, do you suppose they don't really want people to know the details on DNFs? I looked at some of the smaller age groups that had 100 people or less to try to get an idea of the DNF percentage, and what it really seemed to indicate is there were a ton of DNS...but the DNF rate looked to be about 5-10% like they said. Also, in the 2010 result book they only show finishers. The book is the fancy pdf product IM puts out after everything is sorted out. So if you didn't finish, it's like you were never there at all. I don't know how to feel about that...seems sort of sad...plenty of people who DNF'd gave it their all. Oh well, minor point overall I guess. Crazy about that car crash! Hope nobody was hurt. |

The 2010 results book did have the DNFs listed at the end of the full results list but not in the age group lists |

Extreme Veteran 523 Brambleton, VA | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Congratulation to everyone on long, hot day. You might have noticed that the Ironman website lists the number of registered participants (2150), while the 'on line race results' only lists finishers (1741). I got an email from the on-line-race folks who confirmed 1851 starters (284 in the M40-44 age group). So, looks like there were 110 DNFs - 6% of the total field. Not too bad considering the heat. All in all I had a good race and finished in 4:51. Next race - Hua Hin International Triathlon in Aug. Race Results : http://onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=20259 |

Member 178 Sioux Falls, SD | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread The 70.3 series website shows all the races for the upcoming year. Typically when a race is done they post the next years date right away and take it to the bottom of the list that shows them by date. They don't have Racine on there at all. Anyone know what the date is of it next year? |
