Thanks Michelle!

And for the newbies...on the inspires, if you feel like replying to them, hit the "blog" button as opposed to the "reply" button.  That way you can reply back in the other person's log rather than in your own.

Any chance I can join your group?

I've been training for about 5 months after being a total couch potato and a heavy smoker. I quit smoking and got serious about training for a tri. Haven't done one yet, but I just moved to Jacksonville, FL from Atlanta a few months ago and I hear there are some great ones in the Jax area.

I just started doing some challenges last month and found that being part of a group is much better than flying solo on BT....

Welcome aboard, Scott.  Congratulations on your training already.  That's just great!  I totally agree groups are better than solo.  I'm a much better triathlete because of it.  Oh, and congrats on quitting the smoking.  I understand that's incredibly difficult and you deserve credit for keeping the quitting going.

Other than pouring through pages of forums, is there a list of folks in this group?

Congrats on quitting smoking, Scott!  It's been just about 3 years for me, and MAN is running easier!   Like you, '09 will be my first tri, and I'm new to BT and this group... so far this is helping me get focused and I think will be great to help stay motivated for training through the cold winter.

Welcome to Mark and Jeremy, too!

I'm in for the "peach" challenge for December.

Michelle, your schedule scares me!!!  But, I'm going to steal some of your morning swims and see how I do.   Good luck with your training commitment!

Thanks for the welcomes!

Ok, I switched my winter plan from sprint to oly maintenance/prep. I was already training olympic distances before my injury, and going back to swimming 400 yds when I was just up to 2250 yds was just to much for me to bear. I'm still going to stick with the jog/run as tolerated for my leg to heal, but the time volume is going to be the same....The blue line is your guide; not your master. But I was crushing the blue line....

So, it sounds like we're all up for the Peach Challenge in December.  Given that rest days are just as critical as training days, I think we should scale it back from every day in December (31) to 25.

Thoughts?

GOOOO BIIIGGG REEEDDDD!!! Go BIG RED!

My wife's a Husker, too!

As far as 25 vs 31 days of peachiness, I'm cool with 31....It's pretty easy for me to find 30 minutes a day to do something....even if it's just an ab workout, that still counts for peachiness...and, speaking for myself of course, could definitely use some ab work....

I'm aiming for the 31st to stay as close to 100% Peachy as I can.

The holidays aren't a reason to take off, and really are a good reason to keep it up for me.  I'll be on the Vineyard from the day after Xmas to New Years Day partying with friends, so that means TONS of food and booze.  I will need to put in a couple miles a day to keep my body happy and not come home with a little extra baggage!

Thats Awesome Jax !!! Give your wife a big "HUSKER!!"  " POWER!!" from me too.  I noticed however you didnt include yourself as a fan but it sounds like there's hope Laughing  My wife is from Iowa and her family hates nebraska, so every thanksgiving we all get together and talk smack.

WOW! Go to bed and wake up to 15 alert emails!! We are a busy lot.

Keeping up is kinda tricky now but I'll push on

Welcome Scott and congrats on giving up the smoking; I know it is a tough thing to do but you won't know yourself in a few weeks and your lungs are thanking you.  All the best with your winter program. We will definitely be stopping by your logs to keep you feeling (harrassed) encouraged.

I reckon 31 peaches - as a couple of you pointed out we can still do push-ups or do an ab workout if we can't get out ( ie: because our families want to kill us if we bail on Christmas day).

This group is cooking these days - awesome.

Mina the vinyard thing sounds like trouble

What is a Husker??

Someone asked if there is a list of all of us.  You can create your own list under friends (control panel) just copy the usernames and paste them into the list. Take a look at mine if you like to get an idea.

welcome Jax, congrats on being able to quit smoking.

I'm in for a full 31 day peach challange.  I'm very happy to have joined this group, it seems like everyone here is fully motivated to train and push each other.  I will probably be the lone guy out running or biking on x-mas up here in NY.  I already hate my bike trainer and the treadmill.  The pool is still fun for some reason.  So back to the outdoors I go

I second that on the treadmill - I'll be out in the cold with you, but I will take the trainer over the wind on my knuckles over the winter in MA most days!  (I'm probably more tolerant of the indoor biking since I have to pedal thru city to get to a half decent bike path.)  Once I did open water swimming, I started equating the 25yd pool to a treadmill for a while but it's been long enough the pool feels new again.

What's the tri you're looking at next summer?  My big bro lives in Fishkill and we were thinking of either doing a sprint together or a longer distance relay team.

Thanks. Again you people up north must have an extra chromosome or something that makes you more cold tolerant.

Got my pre-turkey day swim/run brick in today so I can have pie tomorrow!

Thanks! I quit July 28th, so almost a full 4 months now! As to what is a Husker? it is an annoying little creature that pops its head out around August in hopes of a return to its former greatness and a national championship (J/k chili! Please don't hate me!). Husker is short for Cornhusker, which is the mascot for the University of Nebraska.

I am totally up for the Peach challenge,

its starting to get cold up here in Vancouver, but we are still outside running, I am on the trainer though at night, its to wet and to dark by the time I get home form work. I have the ability of working out at lunch (work at a college) so that helps a lot in getting my workouts in everyday. I have been using the map my tri site for a while now to log my workouts, can I bring them over to this site? or will I develop carpel tunnell re typing them all here

Not sure if you have to be a performance member or not, if you use a garmin you can import all your routes. you can post in the taining log help though and they can you a definitve answer.
