Cant keep the ball...the midfield are giving it away and Davis and Ching cant hold it up....plus too much space between the forwards and midfield...Mexico looks a step quicker and brighter on the ball

Not entirely certain why Ching got the nod.  Sure he has the seniority, etc, but to me Altidore has shown a better nose for the ball and the back of the net.  Ching hasn't sniffed an international goal in a while, if I remember correctly.

And now Bocanegra with a foul.  Seems we are being aggressive without much to show for it.  They better watch it or we will be playing a man down.  Again.

And that is half.

Since I'm not able to watch it, I can only gather what is being written in the online commentary.

To me, it appears we are continuing to allow too much possesion by Mexico.  Free passes, and it sounds as if free kicks on goal.  While we are doing nothing but fouling.

To expand on my post earlier.  I thought I saw much more chemistry and connection with Altidore, Davies and Donovan as a 2-1 up top, then I have with Ching in the mix.  He just doesn't do it for me.  He hasn't in a while.  I was hopeful last year, but not anymore.

So now we have to come out, and again, re-establish some dominance.  I know Bradley isn't the fire and brimstone kind of coach but I hope to god he is giving them a tongue lashing right now in the locker room. I WANT THIS WIN!

Lead up to the Mexico goal - there was a foul on Donovan but they played on....also some challenges of equal strength have gone unpunished for Mexico...

US just looks slower....and speed kills!

I caught this one at 32'  "Dangerous spikes up challenge by Dos Santos. No call."  but that has been it on this commentary.  can't get the Fox one to work and he usually is more descriptive.

And yes, speed does kill.  That is why I was hoping for Jozy.  His long legs are deceptively fast when he gets them moving.

Based on the first 10 minutes of commentary of the second half, it doesn't sound good.

Bcozian, what are your thoughts?

Blanco out.  I hope that is good for us.  He seemed to be involved everywhere.  Love him for my Fire, but hate him on the NT.

I'm so disappointed I could spit.

Not enough posession....Mexico had too much - were always on the front foot and confident...even 1-0 down....I dont see a leader on the US team....and they have trouble at the back...still they will qualify for the WC...since CONCACAF is pretty weak

This is probably one of the biggest strikes against the US.  Outside of Mexico, there hasn't been, and probably won't be, consistant difficult competition in the CONCACAF.  Canada is useless, unfortunately, because their FA is in shambles (infighting, disagreement from one side of the country to the other, lack of training,e tc).  And then all the smaller countries can put together a string of wins, or even a good year or two, but on a consistant year in and year out basis, not so much.

So we rely on Mexico to be our sole competition.  Fortunately, someone finally got the bright idea to start doing friendlies against tougher teams (Italy, Brazil, etc) which will help in the long run, but will only get us so far.

Again, yesterday, the match demonstrated just how far the US still has to go.  I guess I knew it all along, in the back of my head.  But yesterday confirmed it.

Landycakes has Swine Flu.  Claims to have been feeling ill since Sunday.  Would definitely have affected his play in Azteca.  No excuse for the rest of the team though.

Yeah, saw that on the ESPN ticker this morning. Hope everything turn out ok for him. Could have implications for the Seattle/LA game tomorrow. The Sounders could really use a win--especially against LA, who lead Seattle by two points.

And are you ready for some EPL footy? I've already checked the FSC schedule for the weekend.

Saturday games:

Everton v Arsenal

Stoke v Burnley

Suday:

Tottenham v LFC

Can't wait!

Did you forget that ESPN has the EPL this year? ;-)

http://www.epltalk.com/espn-adds-premier-league-to-soccer-line-up/9899

REALLY!?!?!  I had thought it was only the rights in the UK, but if it is here in the States too, that is awesome!  Another chance to catch my boys in action.

I really need to upgrade my box to get the DVR so I can watch them later.  I'm going to miss Liverpool on Sunday cause of my Triathlon.

First major upset of the season, Burnley over ManUre.  Is this just early season rust or is it a sign that MU will miss Ronaldo and Tevez more than they would like to admit?

We got Direct TV - so I now get Setanta- FSC and ESPN....wife is a soccer widow on the weekends!

- Manure - Saw them play both games - not impressed..."experience" in center mid with scholes and gigs...and graft from Park, Carrick and Fletcher will NOT replace the flair and creativity that Ronaldo brought...Rooney had to drop deeper and that leaves them short numbers up front....they dont look impressive...- I'd say they have stepped back a bit...oh and the Owen experiement...er..no..Capello is right...he doesnt have it

- Your beloved 'Pool - saw the Spurs game....if that is the best you have in CM - Lucas and Masch..you wont even make a challenge...Gerrard needs a constant supply of the ball as does Torres and those 2 cannot provide that....no creativity ( sense a theme?) - and if the best you can do to try to get a result is bring in Voronin!...what does that say for striker depth? ...I like Beneyoun - liked him at West Ham too...creative, good vision and can score - he needs to start....I think you have trouble at the back...injuries showed it..even when Skrtel was blind and Carragher was bleeding to death..Rafa would not bring on the youngster until late in the game...you need Agger and Sktel fit..for the season

- Arse - well...what can you say - if you make no significant signings ( except the Ajax defender who looks good so far) - and make up ground on the other top 3 teams - doesnt that suggest that the other 3 went backwards? I think so...quality wise..if Wenger could make 1 or 2 more signings - Arse could be a real challenger this season...all depends on consistency of form against the minnows..

Haven't seen much of Chelsea...still about the same I think

The rest - Aston Villa...weaker..lost Larsson and Barry....Everton...enough said plus they'll lose Lescott

Man City - buy a defender!....do you know Hughes has spent over $300M on that squad?! and they still aren't there yet...criminal

Should be a good fight at the bottom - since there are 10 teams that could go down..no wonder players chose La Liga..quality in the EPL is now an oxymoron!

Wow, I am surprised at Burnley beating ManUre--what a great win for them. But not shocked, because I did watch the Stoke/Burnley game last weekend. Burnley suffered an OG in the first half and really were the better team in the second half and narrowly missed some scoring opportunities.

LFC must have played a much better game against Stoke than they did against Tottenham. Put a real smack-down on them.

Not a happy result for the Fire last night--caught most of that game. Good breakaway goal by Donovan.

Big game tonight for the Sounders, they need to get results from their remaining home games. Will be televised on ESPN2 at 7 pdt.
