Actually found a trainer who has some triathlon experience today.  Have a meeting set up with him tomorrow for a basic evaluation of my "physique" and to plan out a strength training regimen.  woohoo! He is a proponent of using the body as weight, so there will probably be very little actual "weight lifting" which is cool with me.  I hate that part of it.  He says lots of core/balance/stretching etc. incorporating some weight to build strength.  He also will be doing  nutritional analysis which should be interesting. Sounds like it should fit right in with what I'm already doing.Laughing

I got to run outside with sunglasses on today! Woohoo! Did 2.6 miles including the w/u & c/d.

I know it doesn't sound like much but we've had such a gray & gloomy winter, today was awesome. It was still cold but the sunshine felt great and lifted my spirits. The bummer part is the prediction for light snow tomorrow. Hope the rest of you are having good weather.

Lastly, I was looking at my January totals and noticed that I ran a marathon.  It took a month but I did it.  I'm pleased with that.

Happy belated Monday all!  Sorry my time on here has been so sporadic lately.  I just haven't been getting on the computer as much, for various reasons.

Lara ~ awesome job on your "marathon."  It's really cool to see your totals build, isn't it?!

John ~ thanks for the article.  I find that while I love strength training, it seems to fall to the wayside lately.  Not to mention that, for some reason, I have always hated doing ab work!

Scott ~ That's great that you found a trainer.  I've been looking around for one and it's really hard to find someone that has actually worked with triathletes before.

As for workouts, time has not been on my side these last few days so I've done some push ups (yesterday) and legs and abs (tonight) here at the house.  Tomorrow I have to find an hour for a swim or bike (or combo).  Let's hope hubby can make it home a little early!

Sooo...I am sitting here at the hospital trying to stay awake and failing...I just did some stretching today...I am supposed to ride and swim tomorrow but I know I am not going to get the swim in...I am going to try to get the ride done, but I have an experiment to run in the lab tomorrow and I have an event to go to tomorrow night!  I am really excited about this event as it pairs too of my favorite things port and chocolate!

Everyone is doing a grrrreat job!  Lets keep at it and stay healthy!

Anne ~ hope ya get to feeling better soon!

Katie ~ have fun at your event...not too much though as you'll end up paying for it tomorrow!

Here's hoping hubby can get home a bit early tonight so that I can do swim/bike combo!  Otherwise, it will most likely be bike.

It felt good to get everything done this morning.  Including the core stuff that I usually do in the evening.  Did weights & a 1hr stationary ride with hills.  I really wanted to stop half way through but about a minute later felt great.

I was going to get the bike ready for a real road ride and what happens with the weather?  It's snowing.  Don't expect more than a couple inches but it does delay things.  At least it will cover the gray piles of snow/ice on the side of the road for a while.

Hope everyone has a great day today.  Winter is returning with a vengeance here.  I knew it was too much to hope that spring was here early.  Back to indoor training.

Oh but it's so pretty & white.  We only had about 1/2 inch of snow.  It'll mostly be gone by tomorrow.

I think I'll be doing no-impact stretching and core today.  I had some dental work this morning and the anesthetic is starting to wear off.  Not feeling up to any jarring.

Sorry to hear about ya'lls weather!  I hate to admit this but I'm thinking we have finally got past our wintery rainy season 'cuz it has been GORGEOUS here this past week ~ 80's and sunny!  Don't hate me....I just had to share!

I am happy to say that I got a 43 minute, much needed ride in last night after Sam spent the entire afternoon deciding that she didn't want to take a nap and fussed the ENTIRE time.  I had dinner all ready so as soon as my hubby got home, I put her in his arm, changed and left!!  Now today I am hoping to finish it and get in my last 20 minutes then go for a 3 mile run!

I sat here trying to describe it and just couldn't so here is a link... http://runningtimes.com/Article.aspx?ArticleID=9911

This leads me to another question ~ how do I "rename" the link?  In other words, instead of showing the whole web address, how do I have it say "here" yet still go to the site?
