Thanks for the well wishes, everyone!  I had a good time.  Finished the 4 miles in 32:50.  I actually ended up going faster than I planned but not so fast that I was really racing.  Hopefully the legs will still feel good tomorrow - got an 8-miler on the schedule.

Great job!!

Whew!  Just got back from running 7.5.  That's the furthest I've ever run.  For some reason it made me feel a whole lot better about the prospect of running 13.1.

Great job with the 7.5.  13.1 will be cake when the race arrives.

Great job on the 7.5 miles.  7 is as far as I have managed to ever make it, so I understand your nervousness about the 13.1.  All my friends who race tell me that it will be a piece of cake on race day because of the adrenalin.  Again, great job and keep pushing forward.

Ran 4.25 miles outside today, then went inside the YMCA and walked 2.33 miles on the treadmill.

I rode 36 miles on the Specialized Transition yesterday.  What a sweet ride!  Will probably buy it.  I test rode a Cervelo P2C to compare and although it felt stiffer and smoother in the short term, the Transition felt much faster.  The guys at CT felt the Trans. is a better purchase when all is being considered and price being equal.  ~That is coming from a guy who just bought a P1.

I've got a short run on the schedule today to recover from a slight hangover from the St Patty's Day festivities and give my legs a breather.

Must shamelessly plug myself today. I rode 84 miles in the mountains today. Climbed up Caesar's Head and the Saluda grade. Longest ride ever! Caesar's Head is a 7 mile long climb. The most disheartening thing about it is just when you are really feeling fatigued and are waiting for the end, you see this sign that says "Caesar's Head State Park - 4 miles" . 4 more moiles to the summit. Holy crap! But I didn't stop, I didn't fall over and I didn't die. Yay me

BTW, my coach rides the Specialized Transition. She was on it today and says it climbs like a dream!

So I went for an almost 9 mile run on the treadmill today (my personal best!). I bought new running shoes about 5 weeks ago and feel like they are sufficiently "broken in." But the last 2 weeks, I've started to develop plantar fasciitis that seems to worsen around mile 4-5. I've taken Motrin before running and I feel like I'm stretching appropriately. Anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know if they sell special inserts for the shoes to help prevent this?

Do you get the same pain when you run outdoors? I'm wondering if it's something about the 'mill. I don't know about inserts, but I have heard that rolling your foot gently over a golf ball helps loosen it up.

Anyone else have any ideas?

9 miles on the treadmill is like, whoa! Hope you find a solution to your pain.

It's hard to say if this is a treadmill specific problem. Since the weather hasn't been great, I haven't been able to run outside for longer than 3 miles. It's supposed to be nice this weekend though...I'll keep you updated!

In my marathon days I have had many many running injuries lower back pain, knee, shin and plantar fasciits. It was so bad at one point I hated to take those first few steps out of bed in the morning(Plantar fasciits), I had to finally take time off and the big thing was I finally had gotten orthodic inserts made. It was very expensive $500 Insurance picked up most of it. I really never had any problem after a few weeks recovery and a slow build up with the insert. I trained for a spring marathon last year and had to do some of my long runs a 15 and 17 mile both on the treadmill due to amount of snow . I was luky I didn't have any problems . If you don't have any problems while outside it might be just how your foot is landing while on the treadmill. Be carefull and make sure you listen to your body.

Hey Nicole, I don't know if you have a "run specific" store near you, but we have a local run store that will perform a gait analysis.  They video and watch how your feet strike both on the ground and treamill and will recommend the specific shoe or insert you should be using.  Most run stores or "quality" shoe stores have inserts for the different types of arches.  I had a pair made years ago by my Chiropractor but they were very expensive, as previously stated.  My personal experience was that they didn't help a whole lot.

I'm a bit late on this one, but a belated Congrats!  I must say, reading about people climbing mountains makes me glad to live in Indiana where it's nice and flat.

I've got a terrible sinus infection that is kicking my butt.  I don't know if I can miss three days of training.  My doc said I can train, but have to take it easy.  The only problem is that is not me.  I am going all out or not going at all.  I might have to work in an easy bike or run, or a long, brisk dog walk.  Something.......

Sorry to be a downer.  I hope everyone else's training is going well.

Still waitting to get outside to bike. We are going to get more snow tommorow. I really have been focusing on my bike (trainer)and now really trying up my running.I am no where near where I was last year with my run training. Its hard to keep a balence. I am in my third week of weight training, which I don't like, the feeling of being soar. It is hard to do my other workouts. I lift light weight of 3 sets and feel pretty drained. I have a small week upper body and week core so I really can benfit. If it will make me stronger.I don't have any races until mid April . A 10k which I really won't be race ready but it will be good to see where I am at in the run area. My du will be april 27, 7 hours south from where I live. I am pretty sure there will be no snow! I just really need to get out on the road soon. My goals for the rest of the month will be to improve my running , Get to bed early ,and work on diet. Hope everyone training is going well and a quick recovery for jeep guy

I actually got to ride outside today!  I think spring has finally sprung in Indiana.  (Knock on wood.  It will probably snow now that I've mentioned spring.)

The downside to riding outside in March in Indiana - Wind!  Man it was rough out there.  You just can't prep for that on the trainer.  I actually had to work to get downhill.  Downhill is supposed to be the fun part!  Anyhow - now that the weather is reasonable, I hoping to start upping the bike miles.  Those May races are starting to creep closer and closer.  I've already begun my "I'm not prepared!  I'll never meet my goals" panic.  Silly to get so worked up about it but at least it keeps me motivated to hit all my workouts.
