BozNC - 2009-08-08 10:42 AM I did a short mountain bike ride with my wife. Not sure if I'll have time to do anything else today. She's only in town for the weekend and then back to work so we'll probably take the boat out for some family fun. Maybe if I feel good I'll jump in and do an open water swim, or I may just have a beer or two and call it a day. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

sounds like a very adventuresome weekend...hope you enjoyed your valued time with the wifey.....

is this a ski boat or a sailboat or yacht that you speak of?

It's a 18' Tahoe Ski boat. Here's a pic of Harley making sure we don't run anyone over. Rocky was laying down in the back so he's not in the pic.

ebshot - 2009-08-10 1:28 AM Hey Michelle, I haven't forgotten your Kauai question!  Really, I didn't!   When Bry and I went, we only went for a day so I don't have any accommodation recommendations.  We went on a snorkel cruise on the Na Pali coast.  That is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and not to be missed.  We had a blast!  Then we hit up Wiamea Canyon.  Again, BEAUTIFUL.  I would have loved to kyacked up the rivers and checkd out some waterfalls but we didn't have time.  Tritwinmom lives on Kauai.  Maybe shoot her a pm and see what she recommends??

That is exactly what I did (about the same time as I posted the question in here) and she gave me some great advice.  We've made our reservations to stay at a cottage in Kapaa ~ I guess I'll let you know how it was when we get back!   I'm really excited as I've heard it is absolutely gorgeous there!!

have a 1/2 MARY to start training for starting the end of the month.

'09-'10 BETTER STRONGER FASTER.
stacieb

There you go!  That is exactly what you need to do.  Enjoy some down time at HHI with the family.  Take a break from the structured training and then focus on your half when you get back.  Winter is a great time to build a better base for the 2010 season.  You had a fantastic first tri season and I'm sure you will see vast improvements next season!

I couldn't have said it better...coming from another in the same exact boat!!
I'm still working out but I have another week of just kind of playing it by ear before I start up my 1/2 mary training...it's kind of funny how our first tri season has almost mirrored each other, Stacie!!

this taking some time off stuff is hard to do.
stacieb

enjoy the MUCH deserved time off!

now why are you leaving the bag behind...but taking 3 stowaways...shouldnt it be the other way around!?!?

yea.  i wish i could left the three behind too.

my oldest son, soon to be THIRTEEN, whom weve trusted enough to leave home alone and/or 'in charge' of my two youngest children for short periods of time, decided that playing w a WHOLE BOX OF MATCHES was GOOD IDEA that last time he was here by himself (FRIDAY night)

now i dont trust any further than i can throw him, which actually would have been FAR considering how angry i was at him...and still am.

the days of leaving the children behind are GONE.  sniff.

it was safer to leave the bag.
stacieb

wow...do we need to get him a new wii game? was he bored? or making a statement!!?

i have no idea why he did what he did except he lacks common sense....

well, no idea why, that's not totally true, but...a longer story, for another day.

he said he didnt know why he did it.

oh man.  i hope its not some statement.  i asked him if he was angry or upset or sad or scared about something.

he said no.

the wii's coming in Oct-Nov.

hopefully he wont burn the house down before then.
stacieb

I dont know why I am telling you what to look for!??!?!! haha...I forgot what your background is! tee hee...silly me!

its ok JULES.  i can miss it too, sometimes.  even WITH the letters behind my name and the certification on the wall.

i did wonder if maybe he's getting anxious about school starting in a few weeks.

the BIG BAD MIDDLE SCHOOL.

its SCARY growing up.

scared is a feeling according to him he doesnt 'have'.

he has ASPERGERS SYNDROME.

its been tough.

but we're on it.
stacieb

Betcha that anxiety had something to do with it.  Big change going to middle school.  Have you guys toured the school yet?

If you figure out how to teach him that missing common sense, let me know how, will ya?

Tomorrow I shall call and make the kids school physical appointments.  Then on Thursday (assuming the inspection goes well), I will call the new school and see when I can bring the kids in to check it out.  And get them registered.  And call an IEP meeting.  Oh boy.

NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE QUOTES.

JULES STARTED IT THOUGH.

as for the anxiety....that's what i figure.

the autistic support team had a week long day camp for the kids at the school.

so they did all these fun activities while getting acclimated at the same time.  (though the probably didnt realize it, they were having too much fun....)

they have another orientation thats seperate/smaller for all the kids in his group, that will come up the week before school starts.

i dunno.  i think he's gonna be anxious regardless.

but manohpete PLEASE dont burn the house down.

Just a quick drive by folks - power was out for over 30 hours and the basement is a little mess - yeah right.  Time for fall cleaning.

Did get some rides and runs in so I can update the spreadsheet to make it look good but tomorrow looks like a good old fashion cleaning day - bleck.

See you on Wednesday - Lord willing and if the creek don't rise

if the creek rises,

Michelle, you have plenty of time to get your swimming improved for June.  Hit the pool 4 days a week and you will see a ton of improvement.  Course it is easier said than done (especially with an adorable little girl) and all but you can totally do it!

No kidding!  It all hinges on what happens tomorrow.  I'm starting to stress a bit but trying not to.  No point, right?  It's not gonna change anything!

stress does nothing but give you headaches, heartburn and gas.

BUT OMG that is FLIPPIN' FAST, ERICA.

man when you move forward you dont MESS AROUND.

id be dowin' the Pepto right now.

what's happening exactly?  (sorry i think im a step behind/lost.  thats my perpetual state physically and mentally! LOL)

is it the inspection?  your not closing today right?

your offers been accepted i know that.  contingent on the inspection?

oh dear selling/buying a house is SO complicated.

im glad ive only had to do it a few times.  UGH.

Today is just a phone call day.  Tomorrow is the BIG day.  Full of appraisals and inspections.  It all hinges on tomorrow.  I know it will work out fine.  Just hard to believe we'll be homeowners in less than two weeks!   Good thing is, we'll have two weeks to move and clean this place before we have to turn our keys over.  Plenty of time!

I got my run done early today.  The humidity was NASTY.  I have never sweat that much before.  I had 3.5 to do and I ran 4.    I have run more this month than I did last month!    Starting to get my groove back.  Tomorrow is a 35 minute tempo run.  Oh for joy!

its ok JULES.  i can miss it too, sometimes.  even WITH the letters behind my name and the certification on the wall.

i did wonder if maybe he's getting anxious about school starting in a few weeks.

the BIG BAD MIDDLE SCHOOL.

its SCARY growing up.

scared is a feeling according to him he doesnt 'have'.

he has ASPERGERS SYNDROME.

its been tough.

but we're on it.
stacieb

Betcha that anxiety had something to do with it.  Big change going to middle school.  Have you guys toured the school yet?

If you figure out how to teach him that missing common sense, let me know how, will ya?

ETA:  Why are the quotes all messed up???????  I shall make my addition pink.

That camp sounds fantastic!  How nice that your district offered that!

I bet there will still be some anxiety anyway.  It's the nature of ASD, huh?  This I am learning.

ETA:  really, I give up on the quotes.  I tried to fix it and can't!
