disturbed275 - 2009-09-30 5:08 PM Well, I'm off to the grocery store.  I hope they don't have Halloween candy out yet otherwise I won't be able to resist grabbing a couple of bags of something.  I blame you all

grab a few extras for us.....come on be a team player!!!

Somehow I managed to resist their sweet siren call.  The bakery fresh pumpkin bars though, well that's a different story......

Im intrigued....pumpkin bars!?

I like pumpkin...

I like bars....

you sharing???

At a local deli they had Pumpkin Butter.  I should have bought it to see if it was any good - maybe this weekend!

My DW makes a delicious Pumpkin Roll - yummy!

Speaking of Pumpkin - Thanksgiving is coming - YES!!!

MMMMMMMMMM.......Thanksgiving!

kimk - 2009-10-01 8:34 AM I am Kim and I have been doing tri's for 2 yrs. Just finished my season on Sunday with 2nd in my age! First time I have gotten hardware! I want to do a 1/2 mary the beginning of November so this run challenge will do me good! Need to still figure out my goal. Will look at the training plans here or if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! The longest I have ever run was a 10 mile but that was in June. I have only been doing 5k's since then. So I need to start from there. I am also a fitness instructor at the Y and need to adjust my workouts for when I teach a lot of classes.

Kim, congrats on the AG hardware!!!!

x2~ also kim there is a program I followed called Hal Higden...wanna join us hals gals? he makes it simple to train...just follow his daily program...if you are too late just count backwards from the day of the race and see where you should be....

http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/index.htm

and my sister who is a marathon runners SWEARS by the run 5min walk 1..run 5 min walk 1...for the entire race...says she totally beats her times of trying to run the whole thing!?! I have trained to run it...so I personally am goint to try and run the entire race!? hoping no walky for me!

I am a big fan of the Hal Higdon plans.  I'm on week 5 of the Novice Half Marathon plan.  Am running the Philadelphia Half in November.

I used one of Higdon's plans for my upcoming Mary.  Personally, it seemed a little light middle distance runs to me, but I guess we'll see how it works out Sunday!

we'll be doing one about the same time!

as for 1/2 Mary plans, im using the intermediate 1/2 Mary plan from www.halhigdon.com.

no fuss, no muss.  just a basic run plan.

ive used Hal's plans for just about about all my run-only events and ALWAYS have done well.

HAPPY RUNNING!

kimk - 2009-10-01 7:45 AM As for music I listen to the I-pod most of the time.  I live in the city and use it to drown out the noise! If I am at the cabin and running the trails then no music just nature! It is my favorite place to run! Just wish it wasn't 4 hours away!

ahhh trail running.  KIM.  you remember when i was up at our family camp.  labor day weekend.

i heart trail running, and like you, wish it wasnt SO long of a drive to get there.  (2 1/2 hrs for us)

Don't hit reply, hit QUOTE instead.
Then the trick is to not mess up the quote thingy.  Always go clear to the bottom of the post and start writing after the last quote in html format.  LOL

If you want it to look like this you hit the "quote" button on what you want to respond to. Then you go down to the bottom of the text, past the [ /QUOTE ] and start typing. Happy Trails.

BTW - This is a run challenge but I am in the planning stages of a fall trip from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon and back in Mid November.

Anyone interested in joining me?

Oh - on the bike I should say.  Plan to leave Phoenix Friday AM - make GC Saturday afternoon/evening (250 miles or so) - Hang out Sunday morning and head back Sunday-Monday and fly out Tuesday afternoon.

1st week of November is out but I think 2nd is probably best so I can refuel with Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks!

BILL.  ill join you IN SPIRIT.

sounds like an A-MAZ-ING TRIP!

a ride of a lifetime.

im seriously jealous!

serendipity - 2009-09-30 9:24 PM Got my workout tonight playing pickleball.  Anyone else ever played?  It's on a tennis court (with different lines than tennis) with paddles kind of like ping-ping paddles and a wiffle ball.  The wiffle ball makes it interesting because alittle wind really affects the game.  I was never any good at tennis, but pickleball is fun.  The group we play with isn't too serious about it and they're crazy enough to play even though it's 40 degrees.  We have the tennis courts to ourselves, because all the tennis players left for Florida after Labor Day.

I was inside and didn't see it, but my daughter hung out after school to watch the boys' soccer game and said it snowed for about 5 minutes.  The new season is fall, right?  Not winter?  'cause it feels like winter out there.

Yea snow!  We were watching the Gore Mountain site and they said snow for Wednesday!  We are hoping for a Thanksgiving opening......

At the rate we're going they'll have a Halloween opening.  (But not earlier, since I'm supposed to run a 5K there on the 11th.)  Whiteface in Lake Placid got it's first snow on the ground.  Which reminds me that my skis need sharpening.

The Leaf cruncher?  That is a great race!  I see you are no longer driving north....Where are you?  We have a cabin in Indian Lake and are up there as much as we can be.  I love cycling rt 28 between IL and North Creek, can't beat that elevation drop.  Ride into town and stop at Sarah's Bakery..........to fuel for the long climb back to IL.

cabin....sista you never told me....is there a reason! haha like you dont want me to visit!!!!

sounds like a great place! I love drops - nothing better then a screamer downhill....and Sarahs Bakery sounds like a must have....but the ride back UP...I will need some cheese with my whine!

That's cause I still want to come visit you in sunny california and SWIM with you.  You would love the ride though, and while you wait at Sarah's bakery for me you could have a cup of coffee and scone and a cheese danish and a donut and another scone and another cup of coffee...........you get the picture.  I wanna ride like you.

haha...you trying to make it where I gain all my weight back and go even FASTER downhill??? I do love scones...and cheese danishes!

so if I teach you to ride like me will you teach me to swim SUPER FAST like you do!?
