I heard Bjorn destroyed the bike course before slipping on the run. Heard the pros put on a pretty good show. I wish I was doing the Rev3 HIM up here in CT...it's only 40 miles from my house. Next year for sure! |

Sam, thanks for posting your race report. Seems like yet another solid performance for you. Crazy that you had to hoist yourself out of the swim onto a dock after swimming a mile--this sounds like it should be its own leg of the event with a separate time split!http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=207522 |

Was suppose to do Half mary in Morristown this weekend--baker's cyst still keeping me from running. Doc-n-soc I'm skipping this year but have completed it the past two years. I am swimming the Navesink 1.2 mile swim on 5/30 and running or walking the Spring Lake 5 the day before Navesink. Running injury is setting me back a bit!! Hope all is going well for everyone. |

Extreme Veteran 475 Watertown, MA | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Sam, great RR and fantastic race, sounds like a challenging but fun race. Denise, I feel your pain, I've been sitting out the run for more than a month now and still no progress, appt. with a specialist on Thursday is at least a step in the right direction (though an MRI is almost definitely needed regardless). |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Completed a 60-mile ride today. Went a little faster than I should have for this ride but oh well. I'm planning on running 10 mi tomorrow morning and if the weather cooperates another TT on Monday. Who knows. Anyway, just flapping my keys. Peace, ~Sam |

Denise & Brownie - hope the injuries aren't getting you down too much and you're getting quality training in the other disciplines. Good luck! S. Don't you worry about me, as long as I can still get on my bike I'm a happy camper . Just did my first bike 'race'--it's a training race, the Wells Ave. crit, 12 miles, and I had alot of fun. I didn't really go 100%, just wanted to get my feet wet in the world of bike racing but I definitely learned a bit about strategy and whatnot and I was happy that I could easily hang with the cycling boys--even if it was just a C race. Beautiful weekend for training, I got a great OWS swim in at Walden and and a bunch of quality cycling. ???I? love this time of year!? |

Veteran 248 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Way to go Sam and Brownie! The season has officially started! I opted to skip a local sprint yesterday and instead did a long ride (key workout). I have a season opener sprint this Sunday and then the Rev3 Quassy HIM coming fast on June 6th. Safe training to all !! |

Expert 701 Caratunk, Maine | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Way to go Sam and Brownie! I just ran the Sugarloaf Marathon yesterday. I have had a calf injury that has kept me out of running for about 3 weeks or so. I struggled with the decision to run Sugarloaf 26.2 - worrying about ruining my tri season and stuff. But I like to do what I signed up for. Great race. Final time - 4:35 - not a PR for me, but not bad for a gimp running it mostly on one leg I guess. And for not running for 3 weeks before. Race report HERE if you are interested. I know I can PR and maybe BQ on this course if I was healthy and trained. Crawling around the office today, but besides the DOMs I feel OK. The calf is uber-tight, but not worse than when I started. Plan is to concentrate on biking/swimming for a few weeks until my next tri. Train hard everyone! Cheers, Mandy |

Extreme Veteran 475 Watertown, MA | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Mandy, great work, congrats! It's always tough with injuries, deciding whether it's something you can run through without making things worse or if you need to sit it out. It sounds like you made the right choice and had a great race, that's awesome! Regarding the magnet question you posted, there's a million different print shops you can find online that do custom logo's on any of a million items--I've had them done for golf balls, mugs, t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc. One thing you want to consider is how many you want done, because most shops have a minimum order since it's a custom job. Here's one that has a pretty small minimum, if you're looking for fewer then just do a quick search, it might cost a little mo??r?e? ?p?e?r? ?m?a?g?n?e?t? ?b?u?t? ??I?'?m? ?s?u?r?e? ?i?t?'?l?l? ?s?t?i?l?l? ?b?e? ?a? ?r?e?a?l? ?c?h?e?a?p? ?i?t?e?m?.? ?? |

Jealous I'm not doing Rev3...it's only 40 miles from my house....can't swing that and a marathon a week apart though.... |

Regular 91 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Hi all-- A big race wekend here in NJ. John--I think you are doing Doc-n-Soc on Sunday--good luck!! Also the Jerseyman this weekend--good luck to anyone racing it. This past weekend I rode the Doc-n-Soc course and got a flat tire (they were in the process of tearing up the road to repave it) Of course I do not know how to change a tire (shame on me) and had to call my boyfriend to help me. Which leads me to asking a question about the course--I know it is hilly and people have been generous to provide an elevation map but that means nothing to me. I was hoping maybe someone from the NJ could tell me a route or hill that would be similar to what I should be expecting on race day. Not sure if anyone would be able to help out with this question. |

Expert 868 CALEDONIA/MIDDLEVILLE, MICHIGAN | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread I forgot to post this. TT results from Monday. There were 40-something of us in the Men's class. Here are the top 10. Tom Burke by the way works at a local bike shop and is an expert fitter. His attention to detail in impecable. ...and he's fast as h***. I was two seconds slower than TT #1, so consistency is good.

Veteran 248 | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Wow Sam, that's awesome .... way to go! You are going to crush the timberman bike!! Today I had a 45 min easy ride + 2 hr run scheduled. Bike was fine, and I headed out for the run. Ended up taking a different route then planned --- a longer route - 13 miles in 2:29. I ran out of nutrition and hydration early (only planned on 10-11 miles!) Ended up taking it easy the last4 miles alternating a bit of walking with the running. Still I was happy ... my longest run ever. |

Hi Denise: Check out the recent 50-mile route for the Miles for Matheny bike tour: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=126371. With over 2600 ft of total elevation gain, this will more than prepare us for Timberman--I think (hope). You can park near Coco Luxe in Gladstone, grab an espresso and roll out from there. I am sensing a Jersey Peeps Ride in the making. Any takers? |
