First the good - Yesterday morning my husband, son, and I got to go kayaking. It was the first time kayaking for my son, but he has been in a canoe several times. My daughter has always been my water baby, but my son was very at ease in the kayak. It made me smile to see him skimming along while dragging his fingertips in the water. I knew he wasn't afraid. So my "doesn't like to try new things" son did 2 new things this week. Now the bad - We were less than a mile from home and my niece called, my daughter stayed at her house while we kayaked. She said that my daughter was running a temperature of 102.4. We picked her up and got her home and I spent the rest of the day in my bed with her. She is feeling better now, still a temp, but not near as high as it was yesterday. More of the bad - Last evening my sister called me in tears. Her husband is in the Navy, and they are scheduled to move to Hawaii in October. The homeowner of the house they are living in called them and told them that she would be by on Monday to give them the paperwork, that they had 30 days to get out of the house. The homeowners had lived in Kentucky for the past 14 years, but they are moving back into the area and they want their house. Now my sister and her family will have to try to find someplace to live for 3 months before they move to Hawaii, and they will have to pay to move all of their stuff out of their current house. This is the third time my sister has dealt with housing issues since she has been a Navy wife. It is very frustrating and upsetting for her, as I'm sure you could understand. That's pretty much been my weekend. Hope everyone else's was better. How can the homeowner's do that? Was it a written agreement in the lease that they would only have to give 30 days? If there is a lease agreement then the landlord can not evict without a reason like they didn't pay rent/did something bad/etc until the lease is up....at least that is how stuff works up here. Or how I think it works... That's a really crappy situation for them though |

Ann - Sorry about the housing situation you referenced. We've always been pretty lucky when we've had to move, but I've heard a lot of horror stories. This is the first time I've heard of someone getting shafted on a lease so soon before a move, but something tells me that with god folks like you around, it'll work out OK in the end. Keep us posted. And CONGRATULATIONS Neal on a 5:34 70.3 today!!! Dude, I'm in awe... Everyone else, have a great Sunday! |

Ditto on Tom's recap, with an "Atta Boy" for his run. Melindy, I am hoping to get up to LP. It's going to depend on work, which still has to sort itself out. Keep training. Just four letters for you. K.O.N.A. |

Or how I think it works... That's a really crappy situation for them though Initially they were on a 2 year lease, then after that it was a month to month, because they didn't know how long they would be there. So since they are month to month legally the homeowner only has to give them a month to get out. Sucks. I know. The homeowners didn't even wait until today, they stopped by yesterday afternoon with the paperwork. They gave my sister and her family until July 31, so they have 7 weeks to find a place to live for 10 weeks before they move to Hawaii. This is really upsetting my sister. She has Crohn's disease and was supposed to have surgery in a few weeks. Now she is cancelling the surgery because she can't deal with that and the recovery while trying to move. It is putting her health at risk. Anyone want to help me give a beatdown to the homeowners? |

I'll drive up and help slap the owners and pack her stuff up. We have room if the kids double up. She can have her surgery and recover on the hammock. You will have to be here, too to help make her feel at home. I'll keep the pitchers coming. hope your little punkin head is feeling better.
I am off to the dentist and a swim. Talk to you all this afternoon.
Way to go at your race Nealypoo. Good job everyone else on the training and fun stuff this weekend. |

Ann, I have lots of room upstairs but realize NJ may not be geographically desirable so I'll just help Robin knock heads. I don't have to head out too early today, which is good because I had a bit of food poisoning last night. I couldn't pinpoint the exact culprit, so I returned it all I'd also hoped to run this morning but the toe is really not cooperating. It doesn't hurt when I run, but is pretty sore afterwards. Guess I need to give it more time. Maybe a bike tonight. Hope everyone had a terrific weekend. Whoot on Neal's 70.3 Kansas finish. Checking to see if Chrissie is tweeting about him. |

Ditto! And no fever here, but a case of don't-give-a-crap-itis is brewing quite swiftly. Anyone know a good cure? |
