Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning everyone! Hope you are feeling better Jan! I'd echo what others are saying and just monitor your progress and see how you are doing for April. Is there a sprint offered the same day that you can drop down to in the event you aren't feeling ready? Great times posted in your races Monty & Jaelin! Congrats! I've been lacking motivation lately - sore legs/glutes haven't made it easier to get motivated but after taking some time away (and not really feeling any better) I'm now back on. I have 16 weeks til my race so time to get moving!! Hope everyone is ON! What are the training goals for the weekend? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jan, just be patient and let your body recover, you'll be way ahead than if you try to work through it. Don't worry, you'll be fine for April. Simon, sorry I have the Cateye 3 wireless on my bike. I'm fairly fond of it. It is the top slide kind so it fits my aero bars fine. Sorry I can't help you on your choice for your roadie. I've added a new race to my schedule. It's a duathlon slated for April 7, so it will be my first race of the year. 3 mi run, 18 mile bike, 3 mile run. Looking forward to it. So my schedule for the year is beginning to look interesting and still not definately set. April is the DU, May is Kansas City Tri, June is Ironman Kansas 70.3, July is Concrete Man (Oly), Aug is either USAT age group nationals in Vermont if I can afford to get out there, or maybe Door County Tri in Wisconsin. Sept. is either Ironman Branson 70.3, or HyVee 5150 championship in Des Moines, IA. Oct. is Tri-the-Lake in Heber Springs, AR., Nov. is the Bass Pro marathon in Springfield, MO and finally Dec. is St. Jude marathon in Memphis, TN. Whew, I'm tired already and that schedule doesn't include the races my kids are going to do. Hope everybody's training is going well. Have a great week-end! |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Bought a new carbon roadie last weekend, dropped it off at LBS for tuneup and will pick up later this afternoon. Now if only the weather will cooperate a bit, I'd like to get it outside ASAP. Once daylight savings time starts, the group rides begin. Still haven't had the new wetsuit on in the pool - trying to figure out who might help me into it while at the Y. Joined up for a free 8 week training program at Endurance Nation this morning. Anyone familiar with those cats? Appears to be shorter, intense workouts rather than long slow workouts. Heading to the Y for a swim and treadmill session soon. JRH |

Woke up this morning with the sun and got out there for my long run. My legs were grumpy and resisted the whole freaking time! Annoying but I showed them who was boss and forced them to do hills until they quieted down hee hee. Tomorrow is bike. I signed up for a masters swim class for Saturday mornings. I figure that will force me to get at least one good hard swim in per week. I also scouted out a pool close to my work that has lunch hour lane swims so I'll probably use that as a back up for during the week. It's time to kick this body in to action ( and I think it is going to require bullying and kicking!!!). Hope everyone is having a good weekend!! |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jaelinfunk - 2012-03-03 7:01 PM HM in the morning wish me luck! My alarm goes off at 4:15am, then on my way to work. I'll send positive thoughts your way!! Go get em girl! Grats on the new ride Joe! Roger, you make me tired just reading your schedule. Brandon, I hope you found something. Myself, taking a break! Eating bad and being lazy for a week then back to the grind. I'm completely revamping my annual workout plan and adopting Dr. Maffetone's method of only burning fat at a low heart rate for base endurance training. Mainly because I'm very new to Triathlon and endurance sports. I'm kind of OCD when it comes to planning and recording workouts (or anything) so I'll let everyone know how I progress. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend while I'm suffering here at work Edit: Because I can't spell the first time! Edited by HelmoAlkou 2012-03-03 7:23 PM |

I'm not sure who I was thinking of when I posted that. Congrats on a great race, 1:35 rocks! Brandon, if you don't have a picture editor I think you can create an album and upload that way without a size check. Then just post a link to your album. Edited by HelmoAlkou 2012-03-04 4:39 PM |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everybody! Back from the land of influenza to the land of the living! And talk about living! You all are motivated and pushing yourselves to great things! Are we not the most prolific group of triathletes ever?! Jaelin, congrats, once again showing great strength, power and a keen mind for winning! Roger, wow! Great year planned! Marcia, hope your legs get better. Simone, great work as always! Oh, can't think of everbody and posts I wanted to say good job to! Good job everybody! I have done 2 workouts now and still a little fatigued and short of breath but just taking it easy for now. And I will gauge things as I get closer to April, no shorter race there but I'll make the swim and bike, no problem, but the run may be a problem. I will just have to wait and see. Finally a nice longer run yesterday on the trail. So nice to be outside, although a little cold for me. Still have a lot of junk in my lungs but I am so proud to say I have been able to master the "hauk and spit" technique my husband has been trying so patiently to teach me for years! I felt much better after the run. He is going to be so proud of me. Hope everyone has a great week of really hard and successful workouts! Jan |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Crazy windy in Kansas City today. Ended up on the trainer and treadmill today. Hoping for an early longish run tomorrow morning. For my KC people, a buddy of mine is putting on an informal 20kish time trial bike ride on tuesday March 13 at 6:30 on the downtown airport loop. Great route. If any of you are interested, let me know. Should be around 15 or so of us out there for it. It is just for fun and training, not racing. There will also be a 40k TT set up by the same people in April and May. |

I've got a Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer. Love it! Great company too. Mine started making a humming noise after about 3 months like a bearing was going out or something. I emailed them and told them the problem. They shipped a new one to me within 3 days, no charge and no questions asked. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi everyone. I know I haven't been on here but I have been training hard. I have a race this weekend. IT's a sprint and just really a C race as a final tune-up for my Oly 2 weeks later. Will be my first race on my new tri bike! I'm really going to try and smash it as hard as I can the whole way to see how well my training is progressing. Im also starting to plan out my next season already. I've signed up for a HIM at the end of October, and am planning on doing a Half Mary at the start of August. The plan I'm looking at doing seems to be pretty low volume - 4 runs a week, 2 tempo/speed and 1 aerobic and 1 long. Seems very doable and will fit into my tri plan nicely. Hope everyone's training is going well and that the weather in the US/Canada is starting to warm up a bit. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() To the KC people, We have the wind now, yesterday it was so strong I had to hold onto cars trying to get through a parking lot! I was really glad I had picked yesterday as a rest day. I am still at work but the people coming in are saying the wind is even worse this morning. I planned a swim today, good planning ahead, haha Everyone have a great day! Jan |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, according to my doctor, it's believed that I tore part of my calf muscle away from my shin on the inside of my lower leg. From the location, probably where the Soleus Muscle connects to the Tibia, for what that info is worth, lol. So now, a long slow wait with lots of ice and anti-inflammatory. We have a doctor here in town that specializes in sports injuries. So my doc's going to give him a call for treatment recommendations, thus saving me some cash and time. It happened on a blasted treadmill!! Now, I'm thinking SWIM! Thanks for the comment Jan, appreciate it! Nice bike Brandon! That wind yawl have is the same stuff blasting through Texas, nasty! It makes me think about shopping trainers as well. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Trainer today to avoid the wind in KC. 2.5 hours on a stationary object is a bit too long for me. I ordered some much needed new tires, and they've finally come in. Looking forward to heading out onto the roads, finally! Let's just lose the wind, and keep the awesome temps here! And I'm looking forward to the time change this weekend! 1 more hour of daylight after work! Jon, wish I could join you on the 13th, but working till 7. Let me know if you guys ever set up another! |
![]() ![]() |
Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() 2.5 hours on the trainer has to be tough. I forgot about the time change! Great, now I can start to get out on the bike after work. the trainer and spin class just ain't that exciting. Hopefully, I can get a couple of rides out this weekend. |
