FoggyGoggles - 2012-02-21 2:33 PM Funny thing about that QD, is I think the picture of the shoe is embedded in the left column of my page. None-the-less, congrats on the new kicks!

LOLOL I was wondering why it didn't post in the actual forum! Now that you got a good look at em, I deleted the images so no more shoes crashing the party.

Had a pretty good day today.  Made it to the pool this morning for 2250m and one hour of ST after that.  This evening got in a 30 min run after plyometrics with my girls at volleyball practice.

Pretty good day? That's one heck of a day! Nice work!

Thanks Foggy.  I'm really liking being back on a training plan to give me some direction.  The swim, ST and run were planned. The Plyos were because I lost a bet to my girls.  It's been 10 years since I've done any jump training and my legs are letting me know today.

Today I got in 30 minutes on the trainer followed up immediately with a 20 min brick run.  Feeling pretty good, but still nursing some tendonitis in my left foot.

Finally got back to a Masters swim class last night! I was a bit nervous because I haven't been in about 8 months, and my last couple swim workouts have been disappointing. Turns out I just needed extra motivation:

75 minutes; 2000m

500 free warmup
4x50 kick (odd w/ board; even w/o board focus on streamline)
200 free; faster w/ each 50
2x125 free; sprint on last 25s
200 free
2x100 IM
200 free
2x75 (25 back/50 brst; 25 brst/50 back)
100 EZ cooldown

30 min easy spin on the trainer this morning followed by 2500m in the pool this afternoon.  So far I'm liking Fink's plan, but it seems to start out a bit light on the bike. I may need to modify the bike portion of the plan for a bit.

I received Fink's book yesterday and couldn't put it down, great read for a green horn like myself.

You need to watch you don't get done for speeding at that rate!!

How long until your HIM Foggy? you seem to be clicking up the training hours.

Out of a matter of interest how long is everyone currently spending training during their week.

Run - 2hr
Cycle - 4hrs

Swim - 3hrs
Core - 3hrs

Total - 12hrs

The above doesn't include my recovery time, which takes up about an hour a day including icing time.

I intend bringing more structure into my training once I get my head around my plan.

After two weeks of no training because of illness I am back. Went for a (BORING) stationary bike ride Wednesday, a run yesterday and swam today for 45 minutes. I am bringing my bike to the city this Sunday so no more staring at blank walls for me, just views from the Hudson River Bikeway.

To respond to the question a bunch of pages back about races, I'm doing the West Point duathlon on April 29, the NY Tri Club Sprint Tri in June, and the NJ State Olympic in July. And MAYBE a HIM in August (somewhat dependent on having the funds, but this is my 21st birthday gift for myself).

Now for a question: How do I get water out of my ear post-swim/get that feeling of dampened hearing due to water in my ear to go away? Any thoughts will be helpful. I'm probably going to read through everything I missed on the group pages this weekend to see what everyone's been up to.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Had a great swim experience this evening so I thought I'd share.

180m - Warm up

90m - speed

18m x 5 - speed no breath

360m - pull bouy

360m - fins

360m - pull bouy

360m - swim

My last 360m swim was the first time I actually felt in control of my swim, I felt like I was still using the pullbouy and the fins together but was swimming with neither, left me with a real feeling of progression.

Thinking about 20 mile cycle and 10 mile run off the bike in the morning, see how I feel.

WMy first Brick training session this morning 20 mile Cycle (17.4 Av.mph 78cadence) 10 Mile run (7.54 min/mile)

Used this as a dress rehersal, wore my tri suit and consumed 3 high 5 gels and a cliff bar. Wow, cliff bars are a great piece of work and I actually found the first 6 miles of the run effortless in comparison to my previous runs, obviously the gels and cliff bar along route made a difference.

Left knee was a bit sore but I'm putting that down to the cycle and the fact the back of the leg is a bit tight, I've also got to control my training sessions better as the plan was to cycle 15mph and run 9min/mile, I have a half marathon next weekend all being well.

We are having strange weather here at the minute 53 degrees Faren. this morning at 10am, good but I was struggling the last two miles with the sun belting down on me. Spring is in the air...

Well I am glad to be back home for sure.  Was in Arkansas on business all last week.  Got a little running in but nothing on the bike.  Then finally got back on the bike yesterday for a nice little ride.  First race, The Blue Norther Duathlon, is in two weeks.  Looking forward to it for sure.

Good to see everyone staying after it.

Well, last weekend I committed myself to getting my bikes out on the road, and that didn't happen. THIS weekend, however, I got my tri-bike out & went for a short, 30 minute ride.

Pros:
bike computer worked flawlessly (I got this last year & love it!)

Cons:
-I am MUCH shakier & out of biking shape than I'd anticipated being (I should  have expected it though, since it's been about 8 months since I was even on a bike)
-my wrists were pretty uncomfortable the entire time
-I was informed that my bike is too long for me, which is adding to wrist discomfort as well as overall bad posture

So...unfortunately I think I'm looking at needing a new bike. I got this one free last year and it got me through my training & first race just fine, but after not riding for so long it's quite clear that it doesn't fit me well. I can't possibly afford to truly upgrade this year, but I'm gonna start looking on Craigslist at least. Also going to have my live-in bike mechanic size it to me as accurately as possible in case I can get by for one more year.

Still haven't fixed the flat on my beautiful single-speed, so that's still on the list for this weekend.
