The goofy challenge will keep me training, at higher levels, get me stronger, build my endurance, and make me the proud owner of 3 AWESOME medals ... Donald, Mickey and Goofy!I still plan on these being fun races though and enjoying, but this is for me!

Only 5 inches (still too much for me) of snow last night. Northeastern part of CT only got that with some freezing rain. I still have power too. Kelly and Jeff-y's part of the state got 10 plus inches and prob no power. Over 700,000 in CT without power and just heard it could be similar to Hurricane Irene where power is not restored for a week. It's a bad time of year for that. Let's hope it's not too long. The problem is that it was a very heavy wet snow that was sticking to trees and knocking them over. Not good

OK, I don't want to live in the snow anymore.  Just a few times a year would be nice.  No power would drive me crazy.

That's some nasty snow storm up in the NE, hope all are safe!

I got in a 1 mile swim today, now watching football. Felt great to get back in the pool after a couple of weeks being idle.

So this was a good and bad weekend all told.

The good:  My alma mater won and is now ranked 13th in the BCS.  That's the highest ranked team in the state of Texas.  Suck it UT, A&M, Tech, TCU, etc.  The Texans won and are in firm control of the AFC South.  Rest weekend training wise and my legs feel great.  Set a PR over 5k this morning at 20:18.  Got to see some old friends at a reception on Saturday night.

The bad:  Speaking of the reception.  Cindy drank more red wine than she can at this point and didn't eat.  I ended up having to hose down and clean out the passenger side of the Expedition.  Little tip:  Windex removes all remanats of red wine from light colored leather.  Oh and tonight is Halloween.  I so hate this holiday.

We got over a foot.  There are over 800,000 people without power and it loks like we won't have power back before we leave from Florida on Wednesday.

Pretty quiet month for me. Was hoping to hit 100 miles running, but IT band didn't allow that.  So I pretty much took the last two weeks off from running to let it rest.  No issues on the bike.  Will be starting to pick it up in November(ish).

Ran this morning, easier pace, just to ease back into running.  IT Band felt fine.  Followed that with 20+ mins of circuits, but no over head shoulder work.  It's killing me.  trying to get into Ortho this week or next to see my options.  I need to start swimming, and can't

October's totals:
Bike:6h 33m 12s  - 84.84 Mi
Run:8h 25m 07s  - 62.01 Mi
Strength:42m

No heat. No water.  Stayed at my parents last night and you know how Karen and my mother feel about each other.

I figure: keep eating the candy, we will need our winter coats this year.

Hang in there all you without power. I have been traveing fror over a week and am feeling like crap. I could not live in an area where driving was your lifestyle. I carp when I have to go six miles to an adjacent town to get to an event. Any way after looking at my 1/2 mary photos I do believe a serious diet is in order while I am essentially between seasons. I hope I can make some true lifestly changes this time. Ortho for the calf problem on Wednesday so hopefully I can get back to hitting the bike and get on track for the tri season. I am not posting my OCT totals because they are truely abismal

I'm looking for a winter bike plan too. Anyone tried Jorge's plan? I did 1 week of workouts a couple of years ago and it about killed me. And it was the easy start up phase. I need done kind of plan. Apparently there are some great powertap deals because they are coming out with new models. Anyone use one? I'm not good at interpreting data, and worry I would not understand what it's telling me.

So I have decided that part of my calf cramping issues is weak calfs, so I am committing some more time to calfs.  Besides toes raises off steps and now some jumping roping, any other idea of other calf strengthening exercises?  I do everything at home.

Oh and I did my first ever squat jumps --- WHOA!!!
