How's everyone's Thursday going so far?
TOM!!! Fine, how is yours? So far not too bad. One shade above "meh." It's kid of frustrating that I'm at the mercy of other people's schedules in no less than 4 states right now, but that's typical. On the good news side, I got two tickets to the Vikings - Chargers game to open the season! This will be my first regular season football game since high school (and I was working at that game). Sweet! SWEET! What will the weather be? Should I pack shorts, or cooler weather clothes for the game? This is San Diego dear. We don't have "weather" as it's known to the rest of the country. Wear shorts, a t-shirt, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Bring a blanket and/or a sweatshirt in case it gets a little cloudy in the afternoon. You now have the tools you would need to pack for San Diego 12 months out of the year. No offense, but I've heard this before. When my sister lived in northern CA she told me to pack pants, long sleeves, cool weather clothing because it never got out of the 60's, even though I was going in June. I get out there and they have a heat wave. It was 101 the day her and I were out shopping. People all around are talking about how it is never that warm and sunny. I leave, and the temp goes back to normal. So with the luck I have, I'd bring snow to southern CA. "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." - Mark Twain Yes it can get cool here and September is actually at the tail end of the potentially HOT season (high 80's/low 90's or so where the stadium is), but temps in the bottom-left part of the state tend to be a bit more stable than those up north. So I'll bring shorts, and a jacket. And tequila. Don't forget that. |

It is still looking like we won't get any of it at all. I have to admit, I was really hoping for a little of the rain. My friends on the coast are gonna get slammed, though. I may have to go on Monday or Tuesday for damage assessment and waste clean up duty. I am only an alternate emergency responder this time around. |

We read The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. Great book if you haven't read it. It is all told from the dogs point of view. Anyway when you host the club, you have to provide the good and it needs to tie into the book in some way. So...since this is told from the dogs point of view, I am serving Dog Chow and Dog Bone cookies. That was a great book. I think I am glad that I am not going to that book meeting tonight! there is also going to be homemade pizza. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Ghoulies are workin' out in August! Tom! Ann! Rob in! Ken dra! Hi guys! Sorry I missed you all--it got a little chatty in here today. Which is nice. I miss that about us some days. *le sigh* So I drug The (awnry) Boy's hide back to school today. A little late, but I had to be ready to do battle with him in order for him to get to school, and I have a touch of what he has had, so I let us both sleep in a little. Now The Girl tells me she's not feeling too hot either--both from what her brother had, and her recurring bladder infections. Just got back from the pediatrician's office. I swear I should just work for trade... (their doctor is in the office where I work). Anywho, The Boy's asthma is now flaring up for sure. he was a wheezy mess when we got home. But the hubby comes home tonight, so I should *hopefully* have someone to share the fun rotation of breathing treatments with. And the asthma flare's not too bad yet. I think as long as we keep a handle on it now, there shouldn't be any pneumonia or anything super-exciting like that. Wow I just read what I wrote. I promise my life is more exciting than just my kid's medical issues. Or maybe not. |
