awwww maaaaan!

I just learned that there is consideration of making the HyVee Tri into a Du because of rain, flooding, etc -

I don't think I would even make the trip for a du - no way could I run, bike, run

keeping my fingers crossed that it is just a rumor (although it seems pretty well founded)

But........ with all that water, it should be a swim, swim, swim! (Bet you'd like that, huh? LOL)

LOL

I would indeed - I guess the issue lies around flooding and the lake picking up fertilizer and bacteria from the surrounding area -

icky

I'm ok with the fertilizer. The bacteria though.... ew.

Then again, I've been in the ocean -- and saw medical waste floating by. (Little red biohazard bags.)

Fun times.....

Its probably the bacteria.

I know since running is not your forte vis-a-vis the knees the idea of doing a duathlon does not appeal to you if its  RBR.

does not appeal at all - not even remotely ready for that

Maybe they could turn the swim into a kayak event.

Dad told me he's SICK of the rain. He had 5" last weekend or some ridiculous total.

Oooh, that would be good: a swim and kayak event??? I'd sign up for that one!

Come to Sacramento July 19th for Eppies Great Race

One of the favorites to win the overall women's title is a friend of mine. She was the overall female winner of Duathlon #1 on Saturday. 9/55 finishers overall. And she was SICK.

I don't think I can get to Sacramento in time for that. LOL

The overall female winner - while sick? Wow!

I've never paddled a kayak, but I know where I could BORROW one and do Eppies and technically it IS a triathlon.

Paddling a kayak isn't hard. They move really easily in the water. You just give a little push, and off they go. Of course, it's all different muscles than swimming or biking or running!

She's an animal on the run... a sub 7:00 mile runner on 3-5K distances in track practice. Simply has a lot of talent and works hard. She was the #3 female finisher and won her AG at Eppies last year.

Wow! That's fast.

Well, and the course is downstream. I'm more worried about steering the damn thing... and not getting run over by another kayaker.

Hm, so you flip over a few times. Can you use an open kayak? (One of the sit-on-top ones?) If so, you'd just get tossed out of it.

OTOH, I'm trying to get my run mojo back and having fun on the bike and I let myself get too easily distracted trying to do too many things. Its been weird - since my divorce was final I've been very, very tired and want to sleep a lot - not from depression, but simply it feels great to rest with no worries. I'm bleeding off several years of stress.

That's why I'm not really motivated to do triathlons right now because there's nothing wrong with stopping your life to take stock and realize why you're really doing something. That you should be doing it for yourself, not to compete with someone else.

Stress takes a lot out of the body. Makes sense that now that it's finished, your body is requesting some extra "down time."

And I agree with your comment about doing Tri's. There IS nothing wrong with stopping and taking stock of why you're doing something. AND yes, you should be doing it for yourself.

And she's quite humble and accessible. Kind of picky when it comes to guys, though, she likes 'em tall - 6' or more - and athletic. And secure. And smart. And well-adjusted, financially secure LOL She's divorced 1x with two small children that she shares 50/50 with her ex. She's a nice person... I don't get to hang with her much as she lives up in the foothills in Shingle Springs but we bump into each other for lunch every few months.

Do you ever run with her? Sounds like she'd be a good running partner for you!

A prize? SURE!

Um, first - I promise not to zap you with the cattle prod. (Ask Beth about that one.)

Second, here's your trophy!
