Anyone else ever played? It's on a tennis court (with different lines than tennis) with paddles kind of like ping-ping paddles and a wiffle ball. The wiffle ball makes it interesting because alittle wind really affects the game. I was never any good at tennis, but pickleball is fun. The group we play with isn't too serious about it and they're crazy enough to play even though it's 40 degrees. We have the tennis courts to ourselves, because all the tennis players left for Florida after Labor Day. I was inside and didn't see it, but my daughter hung out after school to watch the boys' soccer game and said it snowed for about 5 minutes. The new season is fall, right? Not winter? 'cause it feels like winter out there. Yea snow! We were watching the Gore Mountain site and they said snow for Wednesday! We are hoping for a Thanksgiving opening...... At the rate we're going they'll have a Halloween opening. (But not earlier, since I'm supposed to run a 5K there on the 11th.) Whiteface in Lake Placid got it's first snow on the ground. Which reminds me that my skis need sharpening. The Leaf cruncher? That is a great race! I see you are no longer driving north....Where are you? We have a cabin in Indian Lake and are up there as much as we can be. I love cycling rt 28 between IL and North Creek, can't beat that elevation drop. Ride into town and stop at Sarah's Bakery..........to fuel for the long climb back to IL. cabin....sista you never told me....is there a reason! haha like you dont want me to visit!!!! sounds like a great place! I love drops - nothing better then a screamer downhill....and Sarahs Bakery sounds like a must have....but the ride back UP...I will need some cheese with my whine! That's cause I still want to come visit you in sunny california and SWIM with you. You would love the ride though, and while you wait at Sarah's bakery for me you could have a cup of coffee and scone and a cheese danish and a donut and another scone and another cup of coffee...........you get the picture. I wanna ride like you. haha...you trying to make it where I gain all my weight back and go even FASTER downhill??? I do love scones...and cheese danishes! so if I teach you to ride like me will you teach me to swim SUPER FAST like you do!? I am packing my swimsuit and goggles and getting on my bike to California......I may take a few days months to get there. Did somebody want this spot again? Edited by notarunnr 2009-10-01 12:36 PM |

Once I'm done running I'll have to spend some time in iTunes to get some new music. Thanks for the cold weather running suggestions as well. It all starts today LET'S ROCK THIS CHALLENGE!!! I have spent a butt load of $$ on itunes, but it was never fast enough and time consuming. Then I found DJ Ajaxx, look him up, he is a mixer and his tunes are great for running.GO GHOULIES!!!!!! Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Team 3 Halloween Run Challenge aspeelma - 2009-10-01 8:38 AM I'm relatively new to this whole thing, I did most of my running last year inside on a treadmill, I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to wear as to run outside when the weather gets colder? I'm especially concerned on how to keep my feet warm. layers, w something in a 'wicking/tech' fabric as your base layer. keep your CORE warm, and generally the rest of you will be. at least i found that to be the case. when it gets really cold, i run w a vest on top, rather than a coat. keeps the arms free but the CORE warm. as for feet, i HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend SMART WOOL running socks. they have a cycling version as well. a little pricy, but worth every penny. and you might think, WOOL, ewww, itchy. they arent at all. and keep your feet toasty-oasty (and AMAZINGLY cool when its warm...) and they are very sweat resistant (therefore blister resistant) as well. HAPPY RUNNING! stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-10-01 12:59 PM |

Just entered my goal miles for the challenge.....100 miles! Feel free to stop by my blog and give me a little motivation from time to time as I'm sure I'll need it. I've never done 100 miles in a month and have averaged about 35 miles for the last few months. But I have a 70.3 this weekend and start the marathon training on Monday..... GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON REACHING YOUR GOAL! 100 MILES!!! Now I don't feel so great about my 50. Keep up the good work, and good luck in the 70.3 We're all where we are, that's why we get to set our own goals..... (justifying my 36 mile goal.) |

Anyone interested in joining me? Oh - on the bike I should say. Plan to leave Phoenix Friday AM - make GC Saturday afternoon/evening (250 miles or so) - Hang out Sunday morning and head back Sunday-Monday and fly out Tuesday afternoon. 1st week of November is out but I think 2nd is probably best so I can refuel with Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks! would love to bring you your carbon fiber bike! but November doesnt work! whats the weather like then??? Phoenix will be nice I am sure but the higher I go the more chance of snow I guess. That will make it that much more interesting right? Hold onto the bike - I am sure I will be heading to SF sometime soon and will bring it home with me!!! |
