deehtz - 2010-03-07 4:05 PM Just finished a little "practice" tri with some friends.... all indoors... pool,  a stationary bike, and a treadmill.   First time I have done all 3 so close together.  It went pretty good, but I am tired!!

I also wanted to see how my planned race outfit would do.  I am very pleased.  It was comfy all the way thru.

Great job Dee!  Did you do the same distances?  It's good to do some practice sessions in your race gear.  I'm going to start wearing my tri shorts from now until the tri to harden up my bits.

I did 1150 yds instead of the 500 that will be in the event, 12 miles on the stationary (I go much faster on the stationary than my mtn bike) and then 3.1 miles on the treadmill (I don't know how that will compare to outside).  At least I know I can do all three and live thru it!   Wink

The two girls that I did the practice with will also be at Beaver Freezer.  We are considering finding a team event to do as a relay.  We shall see!

What a great way to build up some confidence for the race!  Nice work!

I ran 9.79 miles today.  It was a good run.  My friends and I chatted the whole time.  The first time I looked at my watch, we had gone a little over 7 miles!  My quads are definitely trashed from yesterdays TT because the long uphill grade at 8 miles was really tough.  I usually don't have a difficult time with it.

I'll be running in a 10 mile race on Sunday so this week will be pretty mellow.  I WILL be paying for this race!

Nice job!  Especially after your kick a$$ time trial yesterday!

Alright team.  I thoroughly exhausted myself today.  I woke up, did 1:20 on the trainer, then I headed to the pool for a quick 2500 yds.  I had a lunch break and then our tri group got together for a group trainer ride (another 1:15) and a short run for a good ol brick workout.  Then, for some reason I decided to clean my apartment when I got home.  If I'm still awake in another hour or 2 it'll be a miracle.

Thank you!!!  I think the good run means that I didn't ride hard enough yesterday.

Now to answer my QOTD:  (isn't that slick how I get 2 posts out of it -- Dee would be sooooo proud!)'

I think my strongest right now, surprisingly is my swim.   I've been able to get my time down a bit (although they are STILL killer slow).   I'm comfortable in the water, but I also think that it's been VERY beneficial in my run and ride with aerobic endurance.

However.  From a speed  perspective, it's my feet when I'm in top form.

Well I would have to say the bike.  In my last few events, I seem to be mediocre on the swim, gain pace on the bike, and hold my position on the run.  However, I might be slowly transitioning into a stronger runner, which is fine with me.  In yesterday's race, I actually gained some positions on the run.  I feel I have a good run base, just still have difficulty coming off the bike, especially in off-road events.

After all that babbling, I guess I'm saying the bike, but hope to soon claim the run.

In training, I like running (jogging in my case!) the best with the bike a fairly close second.
However, with my new bike maybe I will like that best.

Finally got a pic, more in my albums:

I took my dog with me when I mowed my friend's lawn and afterward we went on a trail run in a local park.  There are a lot of streams that join up and enter the sound together...some of them had diverted to the trail.  I got a bit muddy and Brook got filthy.

I ran the bluff trail for the first time and was rewarded with a beautiful view of the Puget Sound.

It would have to be biking for me since that's my best discipline.

I am looking forward to swimming this year though because I've made some huge gains in the off season.
