Shoeless - 2010-04-05 1:56 PM
yogachic - 2010-04-05 9:15 AM Heidi, are you "shoeless" because you enjoy barefoot running?  We had a nice discussion about Vibram's last month, and your screen name just reminded me I want a pair .
Nope, I wear shoes to run in, just not any other time if it can be helped!

Nice!  I'm the same way. . . Growing up, my main sports were swimming and Tae Kwon Do.  Even as an adult, my favorite is yoga.  Apparently I generally like being shoeless as well Wink

LOL, those are all perfect fore shoeless people!

The sun came out and melted all the snow, so I got in a nice little 3.1-mile run through a rural subdivision. Very little mud, nice road surface in this area, and it is flat. Perfect for a taper week.

I know I"m a redneck. My kids and I refer to this run as 'the animals' because we run on Beaverhead Lane, Buffalo Lane, Antelpe Drive, and Elk Trail; really!

Evening A Team.  It was a busy weekend, followed by a busy Monday at work.  No way I'll get through all these posts tonight.  Hope everyone's training is going well.  I'm on track with my running and knee PT, but need to put a swim on the calendar.

Emmanem - 2010-04-04 4:55 PM I've got 2 5ks this month... but more importantly i just registered for my first triathlon!!!  very excited!

brick94513 - 2010-04-04 3:02 PM We're getting close to the start of race season!  Does anyone have races this month?

I'l be racing in the Sea Otter XC race for sure.  I can't make my mind up if I want to travel to Vegas for the XTERRA Western Regional Championships.  No easing into the season if I decide on that one.  It will have competitors from across the US.

May will definately be busy.

Congrats...that is very exciting!!   When is it?

pdbman - 2010-04-04 5:26 PM Hasn't been the best Easter today.  I won't go into details but its been kind of a bummer. My wife and son are off to go visit a college that my son is considering so I'll be on my own tonight and tomorrow. I'm going to go find a DVD or something to relax before going to bed.  Have a fun evening and we'll chat in the morning.

I hope today is a better day for you Paul!

brick94513 - 2010-04-04 5:39 PM All these posts about family is making me kind of sad.  Our family lives about 400 miles south of us, plus my wife had to go to work today.  So, the boys and I had Easter dinner at a friend's house.  While it was nice, it sure doesn't compare to those big family gatherings.

I totally agree, Tim! That is why I am so friggen excited to move to WA...it will be the first time in 15 years that my hubby and I will be living by family and that is HUGE to us!!

This season of Lost is really good!  I have to DVR the show.  I catch myself rewinding over parts to get the full jist.

Man, I am constantly rewinding it! I feel like if I miss a second of it, I'm lost. HE, HE, HE...get it? Lost? Laughing

That's another reason I don't watch it.  Its been so long I would be lost too.

Lost... best show on TV!!!  Love it!
I've got 12 pages of posts to catch up on.  I hope everyone had a great weekend!

The same director also does "Flashforward" and it is the same type of show...needless to say, I'm hooked!

toocold - 2010-04-05 6:29 AM Good morning Team.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and positive thoughts for my Mom!  She had a great weekend home and I think it was really good for her.  Being in her own space, doing some stairs, puttering around.  She also had some friends from when we lived in the North visit on Fri/Sat which was great because I didn't want to spend too much time around her until I had a handle on my cold.

I threw everything I could think of at that cold over the weekend, including a mustard pack that I apparently left on too long because I seem to have a slightly burnt chest.  I am happy to say I am feeling a lot better and I was able to enjoy a nice Easter Sunday with my family.

My plan today is to ease into training.  I am going to head out for a run right away and then I will jump on the indoor trainer tonight when I get home.

Ok, you lost me at "mustard pack." What the heck is that?

With that said, I'm glad that you and your Mom had a good weekend and you're feeling better!!

brick94513 - 2010-04-05 9:23 AM Well I was planning on a road ride this morning, but my wife left my tights in the washer!  Errrrrr....  So, changed the plan and went for a little run.  Pace was pretty pedestrian.  My legs are still sore from running stairs three days ago.

Planning on taking the boys to the movies later, baseball practice, then hopefully to the pool for my first swim of the month.

Your theatre doesn't have a bar in it, does it?

Did it work this time?  I think my computer at work might block uploads?????

Anyways, these stairs are down at the beach.  They connect the beach parking lot to the homes on the bluff above the Capitola village.  My firehouse is located a few minutes from here.  So, every once and a while, we'll take the engine over and run these in the morning.  The stairs are roughly 5 to 6 building floors.  We did this 10x with pushups then ran half mile for warm down.  Great workout, but I always get really bad DOMS afterwards, especially in the calfs!

Alright that puts a whole lot together - you are a firefighter not military like I suspected

And that sounds brutal.  The whole detachment or just you and a couple of buddies?

Do you have fitness tests to pass every year??

Sorry - LOL

We have a mandatory fitness program.  Shift starts at 0700 and we are expected to be working out from 0730-0830.  I have a really great crew that takes the physical training to heart.  Doesn't get much better than getting paid to workout!

I sooooo miss that from when I was in the Army!

Heading out to masters class.

I'm hoping today will be a little easier.  I don't mind swimming large volumes...but when we start doing crazy stuff like butterfly sprints I just want to throw up.

Unfortunately, no it doesn't.  The movie was really good.  My boys loved it.  I enjoyed it as much as them.

Missed my swim tonight.  Getting a little frustrated with my son's baseball coach.  He keeps moving practice around on us.  First, it was at 5:30, then 4 if it rains, and then I get home from the movies and it is at 4:45.  We were running late and dashed out the door.  I forgot all my swim gear in the process.  Oh well, next time.

From what I understand, you take equal parts water, mustard powder and flour to make a paste.  Take a tea towel and put the paste on one side and then fold it over and put it on your chest.  It heats up nicely but I guess I left it on too long.  Or I did it too many times.  Not sure...  Embarassed
