Good morning everyone, worked out well today, legs still getting used to the bike commute to work, so 2 times this week is my goal.  Ran extra this morning and did better w/ 9:15 miles:>  Weight bench turned into a storeage area as I have to paint my daughters room, I wasn't to sad as my body is sore....Planning on Friday morning for the 3rd time this week.

Have a great one.

Keep up the hard work everyone!

I've really been enjoying the TdF Challenge. It's really driven me to put more miles in. As of today I have logged just under 160 miles for 12 days and only 20+ miles behind the leader.

Only a month away from my first Tri. Getting excited. I'm going to be fine on the bike and I need to put more running in. I take an OWS at least once a week, but I'm going to start increasing that too.

Been quiet around here. Just wanted to check in.

Rode some new trails today by the cabin with my son.  Hope to try them again in August when we come back up. Maybe ride them on my single speed.

Will probably go through the bike tonight.  Better start laying out my tri clothes and bag.

Today was brick day. Did a 17.5 mile bike and a 3 mile run this morning. The run was killing me. Got a side stitch and couldn't shake it and a calf crap that still is bugging me. For some reason I still can't shake this calf cramp. I am taking in plenty of water, potassium, salt, protein, carbs, and all around vitamins. Am I missing something? Am I over training? It always kicks in on the run.

If I don't get a chance to say: GOOD LUCK MONSTERMAN!!!

You might be trying to go too hard - I definitely get side stitches when I try to run too quickly.  As far as supplements, the only thing I think you're missing is magnesium and calcium, but that should be covered in your other vitamins.

This has been going on for a few months now, right?  You might want to get this checked out.  Just to be sure it's not something more serious.

I am so glad it is over.  I am also so glad to be alive.

Swim was terrible.  I was soooo confident coming into the weekend.  I had been swimming my butt off.  The prob was it was all in the pool and no OWS.  I went out in the H2O early this AM to acclimate to the temp.  It was  68-69degrees.  I could not keep my face in the H2O.  I would panic and ended up flipping over on my back the entire swim.  I DID swim past the pantoon for those who chose to call it quits and end it there.  My swim time was just under 14 mins while most of my AG were out in 5:30 to 8:00.  Pretty sad when EVERY lifeguard asks if you are OK.  Not many AG out of H2O after me...........

I hammered the ride.  I like the feeling of passing people on high $$$ TT/Tri bikes while I am on my 8 y/o road bike.  Made up many AG spots.

I may have pushed the ride too hard cuz I suffered during the run.  I only lost 2 AG spots on the run though.

44 out of 80 for males 40-44.  Not as high as I was dreaming of.  But I didn't drown, good plus.

Not sure if you will see a count down any time soon from me.  Gotta think this out.  Plenty of MTB racing ahead of me this year to keep me busy.

Thanks for the support!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!

Your first OWS is definitely a lot different.  The fact that you finished despite all your trouble says a lot about you!  And very cold water can really affect you, especially your breathing.

Those are great results!!  Keep at it!

Great rides this morning, going to be 97 outside on the way home from work:>(.

Oh well extra water is planned and alittle heat training is always a good idea?? i think.

I just bought aero bars off the classified list - my 1st purchase.  They wanted 120.00 at the bike store - 25.00 off our wonderful site! - next week I'm going to slay that commute to work!

Have a good Tuesday everyone.

Sorry not much posting, my real job has me working extra.

So still riding and running, swimming

question - my new aero bars move just alittle but seem very sturdy, should there be alittle play in them?

Thanks!  Yes, I am SO hooked!  I am leaving the U.S. again in about a week so I don't have any time for more triathlons this summer, but I'm going to do some runs in Mexico this next year (a 10K and a 13.1 mile) and then plan on doing another triathlon next summer when I'm back in California.

Well, I haven't been on or posted on the site for the last few days. I've been too pi$$ed off and disappointed.

Last week I started having severe upper back spasms. Enough to drop me to my knees. I ended up going to the ER and they found that I have an upper spinal sprain. How that happened, I don't know. I went to my primary physician (also a sports doc.) and had it double checked. Yep, same diagnosis plus he found that my pelvis on the left side is all tweaked out. Solution, lots of physical therapy and no Tri's till her say so. No running (walking ok), no biking, or swimming.

I'm going freakin nuts!!!! My wife is going to collect the life insurance policy on me any day, I can feel it. Anyway, needed to vent and hope I might have time enough for some kind of event before the seasons over.

So sorry to hear this bad news, but you have a plan, now work it, fix it, and you'll be tri-ing in no time!  Plus you've done so much work this year, think how easy it will be next summer to get back to where you are now.  Heads Up and keep us posted.

Ouch!!!  I'm really sorry to hear that!

Take it easy and recover.  Physical therapy will definitely help in the long run.  You'll be able to come back even stronger once you are done.
