My first IM too!

Feeling like my mileage is way low compared to what it should be, but ya know, time constraints.  Anyway, Still have a solid 10 weeks to get those miles up.  I am excited, first race of the year this sunday, Buffalo Springs HIM, which I completed last year and it was 113 degrees and 20+wind or something.  This year years forecast less than 100!

I ride a modified road bike, live in Colorado (at almost 7000 ft), never swim in open water, and pretty much hate running.   Confident in my bike leg, thank goodness its the longest part!  the rest I'll just muddle through.

Tri suit for the swim and bike with some cool wings, then probably changing to regular running shorts and tank for the run.

I wish it would just hurry up already!

First full IM for me!  Completing a particular distance for the first time is the easiest way to a PR!

Krazytallchick - it was good meeting you and your husband on Saturday at the Jackson Brevet century.  Now I know what "the board" is.  LOL

It was nice meeting you also Cincyman.  Thank you so much for answering a lot of my questions and concerns about the race, it really helped put a handle on things for me.  Hope you had a great ride Saturday.

You're very welcome.  The ride on Saturday was pretty nice. But it got a little boring toward the end since I would go for several miles without seeing another cyclist until I got to the rest stop.  Overall, though, I definitely liked the ride and will probably do it again next year.

This is my first IM.  Mileage is nowhere near what it should be.  2 more builds and then taper.

Some news from the director of the race and they exteneded the cut off time for the bike and Official end of the race is mid-night. So if you get in the swim and jump in at 7:30 you got 16h30m to finsh the race>

They also confirmed in the chat that they would not be returning bike special needs bags (so don't leave your $80 spare tubular in there!) and it was still iffy if run special needs would be returned.

This will be my first fill IM.  Can't wait for it!  Does anyone know what nutrition will be available on the course this year.  This is what the 2011 race packet said they got:

Bike Aid Stations:
Ironman PERFORM
Water
PowerBar Gel
PowerBar
Fruit

Run Aid Stations:
Ironman PERFORM
Water
Cola
PowerBar Gel
Pretzels
Chicken Soup Broth (Fulls only, after dark)
Fruit
PowerBar

Is this the standard for IM events?

1st time for meSurprised

Have Muncie coming up in 2 weeks, then IMKY.

Seems like the closer it gets the more reasons / fears i am getting that i'm not going to be able to do this....anyone else get those doubts?   today I had a 4 hr ride (following IRONFIT by Fink) and lost all my energy in mile 70 - 80.  today was my first attempt at all liquid (used Hammer Sustained Energy and Perpet.)

One thing i have done in the last 2 weeks that i like is on my long ride/brick days, I split in half.  So today i had a 4 hr ride and 45 min run.  I rode 2hrs, ran 20 min, rode 2 hours, ran 25 min.  Used my house as "1/2 way" special needs bag

This past week I have been really questioning can I do this?  It seemed no matter what activity I was doing I was struggling which made me think can I do this... will I make the cutoff times.  I have never doubted myself before till now.  I hope it is the pre-race nerves and that I will get over this feeling soon.

Don't get too down on yourself, there is still time to build your confidence, just stick to your plan and make sure you are eating and sleeping enough. If you are feeling run down, don't hesitate to take an off day!

Don't worry, the nerves will calm down eventually, that's normal.  Keep training and believe that you can do this!  Just remember, one foot in front of the other!
