Steven.davis - 2012-03-24 7:03 PM Busy training week here, too. Finally broke the 2000 yard mark for a swim workout, plus four good runs. Only one actual ride, since I'm back on the road, but I did endure three stationary bike rides. Next week is an easy recovery week. I need it.

Way to go on the swim!!  Last week after one of my swim's I was supposed to run for 1 hour.  I've never ran for that long but I felt great while running and I made it 7 miles (also a personal best!!)

Great job on the run! I will feel a lot more comfortable about the swim when I've done one in open water...

I rode my bike 45 miles on Saturday for the first time.  I recovered pretty quickly.

Our weather here in N. CA has been odd this week.  Yesterday it was raining and cold, same today but tomorrow and Friday it's supposed to be 70 then back to rain on Sat and 56....brrrrrrr.  Can't wait for the temp to be 70 and up!!

Montreal went from 75 last week to 45 over the weekend and 25 yesterday. Back on the treadmill this morning... Didn't want to do the morning run in snow and sleet. Call me a wimp...

3.5 mile run and a 2300 yard swim yesterday. Had to resort to the treadmill because of crummy weather in Montreal, but at least I got the run in.

Great training day today!  1 hour very difficult spin class with LOTS of intervals. In the afternoon I planned on a bike ride but it looked like rain in the distance and I didn't want to get caught 20 miles from home in a down pour so I decided to go running.  I completed 7.3 miles at an 8:18/mile pace, and I felt great the entire time.

Crazy times..I was suppose to do an hour and a half run today, though previously, I have never done that long.  BUT, I was going on a group ride too.  The bike club leader couldn't make and asked me to lead; what the??? I have only ridden with this group twice!  Oh well, had a 24.50 miler planned but the wind kicked up and only one guy, who was new to the group showed up.  Of course he was eager to ride and had never gone over 10 miles.  "Alright, we will ride but in this wind, no way am I doing 24.5...maybe 5", I said, as my hair blew all over my face.  The wind was harsh and he was drafting off of me...wt? He did state he had a hard time keeping up with me and I secretly took pleasure in that.  We only rode a little over 5 miles, I think, and I did push hard...wore my legs out and could not get the run done...it was a walk for the last 1/3 of the six mile run.  All in all an ok training day.

Up for two jobs at work, one I want the other, eh, its more pay but not as pleasant. The eh one was offered to me, they would just move me to the position.  But I already had an application in for the other so we are all waiting to see what happens.  I spent the past week training for a job I am not sure I want, doing my job, and interviewing for a third job...it was a bit much!

Good luck with the job! Everyone seems to be doing well!

I just got back from Florida where the weather was beautiful. 80-85 and sunny. I went on two runs of 4.6 and 6 miles which is a lot for me. I got some swimming in, weights in and a bike in the gym so it was a decent 4 days for me. The steam room made it worthwhile. I need to get me one of those! I went on a bike ride today when  I got home but it was windy so I only made it 16 miles. About 5 1/2 weeks until my first Sprint Triathlon so I am getting excited!

Looks like our group just got archived. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on continuing in the current group or starting new groups, or some hybrid. Are you still looking to contribute to this group or do you want to move forward? Let me know.

"Archived"?? How does that happen?

I've enjoyed everyone in our group but it has appeared that people's lives have become busy once again and the "newness" of training and posting comments has dwindled.  I'm flexible to whatever the rest of the group wants to do.

It does appear we have less participation. I am not sure why but I am open to whatever the group wants.

I am willing to hang around...I usually can't/won't post until the weekends.  BTW I was offered the job I wanted and can finally let go of the other position that was offered and train someone to do my job.  Whew what a crazy couple of weeks...I slept well for the first time in a long time last night!

Congrats on the job. I've been waiting for three weeks to hear about a promotion that is always going to be announced "tomorrow". Good thing I've got working out to keep me sane.

Congratulations on the job!!! Does that mean less time training/working out??

I've been waiting to hear from Steven if you got your new tri bike yet and if so, what do you think of it?

Thanks guys...the job I got was a lateral move; the other job that was offered in another department was a bump up but the office is just a drag...a lot of negative things happening....figure its like this, if you marry a rich man just for the money, you'll earn every penny..same with the job sitch.

Eager to get my run on today but my lungs apparently had a different plan.  Felt a little heavy in the chest this morning, like a chest cold is just coming on, and when I ran my lungs were on fire!  I have a5K trail run on Saturday so we will see how it goes.

Anyone racing this weekend?  Are we starting a new spring group? I am part of two groups most seasons because one tends to die out.  Not this time both had a few die-hards that kept going.

The tri bike came in over the weekend., and I had it fit at a local shop. They did a computerized fitting, which was a new experience for me. Nothing like getting to see how bad your form is in slow motion! I've been out for a couple of rides, including an hour last night. The position takes a little getting used to, but I like it a lot. I will upload pics when I can get access to a camera.I also switched to Zoot shoes this week. It was time to replace my shoes anyway, and I found these on sale for less than I normally pay for my Brooks. Wore then sock less for yesterday's 3.5 mile run... And promptly got blisters on both ankles! So much for sockless fit! They feel great, so hopefully I can continue to run without socks after I get them broken in. Supposed to save time in transition, so they tell me.

Okay folks, I'm for keeping things going as well (maybe on a slightly more relaxed basis since we are all busy and getting into racing season).

Cynthia, congrats on the job.
