Champion 7136 Knoxville area | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed geez, work has been slamming me the last few days! Tax time is always crazy. Between that and trying to get my schedule back on track I feel like I'm out of time before I even get started! It will be worth it (hopefully) when racing picks up next month.
Got a good swim in this morning. At the end of my workout I was doing 100m's hard and was hitting my "all out sprint" time from last year. Who would have thought that the guy that couldn't make it from one end of the pool to the other would be bragging a few years later (although my times are still not brag-worthy haha)
Now, back to the grind. Hoping to get a good run in this afternoon.
Happy PI day! |

I want to go to my first Tri and be able to power through my probable exhaustion!Quintillion - 2013-03-13 3:05 PM Good run this evening. I might change my route, everything but the hills are too easy now. On the other hand I don't know if I should stick at it to make sure I can't run up hills....? What do you all think? hills are always good to run. enjoy them, they are making you a stronger runner. everyone hurts on them, not just you. |

Although can you explain to me what Negative Splits are?I have 3-4 different loops I like to do at my house to mix it up a little bit. If I do the same route back to back I just try to beat my last time, So also you can Race the clock on the same loop, or you could work on hill repeats, Negative Splits, or Fartleks. Just don't go too fast that you are going to hurt yourself. Don't run a 25 min 5k one day and the next try a 21 min 5k. It takes a long time to build speed up.

Have you tried it while not on the bike? To see if its humming while not flying down the road? |

Have you tried it while not on the bike? To see if its humming while not flying down the road? i looked up some stuff on the mount, and since it is machined aluminum is creates a little vibration with the aluminum handlebar interface, and the gopro picks up the sound. a few people said they just put a layer of rubber or something around the handle bar before putting the mount on and it fixed it; so i guess i'll try that. |

If you have never raced before, then I would suggest a couple of each. You are going to PR your training 5k time, at least I usually PR, your adrenaline starts pumping then you notice your running 7 min miles and before you know it your done. I would race a few different more to get the feel of racing. It is also nice training. just my 2 cents |

Member 275 Cleveland OH | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed got up early for a saturday and was supposed to meet some guys to run this morning, but they didnt show. So I ran and ran and ran, before I knew it I was at 5 miles and was doing an out and back so looked like I was doing 10 miles. So on the way back my calves started cramping and getting real tight. When I had to stop at a stop light I stretched em out and it felt better. 10 miles is my longest run ever and it couldnt have been a more perfect day to get that in. was 8am Snowing/raining and it was just so peaceful. I ran it all on bike trail that surrounds Cleveland. We have well over 100 miles of it and it is within 1 mile of my house.
Finished in 1:17 pace of 7:42, which I think is great considering 6 months ago I had trouble getting under an 8 min mile. I took it slow because I knew I would be sore, HR only got to 162, which usually is at least over 170 for runs. Felt great and was so excited. |

I hovered around 20:0x for a while before finally breaking it. Running comes (for me) in such odd spurts... I'll be the same speed for months, then all of a sudden drop times like a dam broke. |

I've done both... this year I expect to do more short races (I'm just kind of mentally fatigued with the whole big "a" race at the end of the year routine I've been in the last few years.) for a change of pace, but I really enjoy 1/2-full distance races, so I guess it all depends on what you enjoy most (and time/life constraints of course) |

Veteran 976 New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed Ugh, life. Wife and I are into negotiations for our 2nd house and it's just all time consuming. Between that and being extra busy at work (but welcoming the hours because I'm not salary) it's just a big clustereff. I didn't have a chance to swim this weekend and won't until next weekend as I know everyday at work will be 12+ hrs. I did a brick of 40 minute trainer ride with a 2 mile bike last night and a 3 mile run Saturday, so I'm trying to sneak it in as I can. Sounds like everyone else is picking up the pace though. Once this house stuff settles I'll get back at it. |

Expert 2192 Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: Leegoocrap & Newbz rowdy Mentor Group - Closed So I found my race results. Is the chip time my real time from start to finish and the total just the time from race start till I finish which includes the time before I crossed the starting line? Pretty sure I know this answer but I want to make sure. |

Really annoying, despite my inconsistency I actually hate missing a session. Starting a new job on Monday though so hopefully I can get back into a rhythm. |

There are lots of things I like (and a lot of those things I also disliked) about the end up season race. The good is that it makes outlining your season pretty easy. Everything up to that race is "training" and preparation. You also have plenty of time to get IN race shape. The bad is that you (or at least I) are putting a lot more emphasis (and therefore stress) on that one race. If something goes wrong that day (or leading up to it) it can (and does for me) feel like a very big letdown. Kind of like you "wasted" six months for no payoff. (Obviously that isn't true, but it can feel that way)
Get to feeling better! |
