So I need to list my goals....? It is hard to figure out my number one......

!. Workout 5 days a week.

2. Eat better

3. Run a 5k by spring

4. Run a 10k in the summer

"But seriously... that race proved to me more than anything that this sport is not just for the "elite few" who have the body, the money, or the training resources, but rather the "elite few" who possess the willpower and determination to train and to simply try......." - cbirchrun

YEAH!! We are all getting back together!! Good job on the marathon Tuscon race!! WOO HOOO!!

Goals are a good idea. My PT and our nurse friend wanted me to do a half-ironman in New Orleans, but it is in April 2009. They got the year mixed up. Matt and I talked about our tri/race goals for 2008 last night! I am going to do some sprint tri's, but am considering doing some mountain bike racing. Yes, I know, I spent months in PT b/c of mountain biking, but I can't explain the adrenaline rush. Those 2 weeks out west really made me fall in love with it. We ordered my full suspension mountain bike on Saturday.

So, Carrie's 2008 Goals:

1. Belles on Bikes (great women's ride in Mississippi, if anyone is interested) the 50 or 80 route
2. Soak up the Sun Sprint Tri
3. Tri for God
4. Put some serious mileage on the road bike
5. Get my core back
6. Turn 30 in June

YEAH!! I am so pumped to see everyone posting!!

i have the wacko notion of being a race organizer for a small... to grow big someday... 5k  ... with the proceeds going to charity... in late spring/early summer 2008. Anybody got any advice on what to read or...lessons learned from organizing?  If I build it will they come?

Hey everyone!

Hope you all had fabulous Turkey Day's! I ran my 5K and just barely qualified for the half! I needed 31 minutes and my official time was 30:49. And it was a struggle. I'm so slow. But I did it! And now I'm inspired to train for the half so I don't kill myself during it! I even threw up, it was terrible.

Anyways,

Whats our challenge?

OH! ALSO--I get an apartment! I move Dec. 1!!! YAY!

Ok, I'm back after a looong break...actually I've been working out but not training. So my goals are as follows:

Start logging my workouts and make a shift into training again
Get back on my bike (found a neighbor that likes to ride so I have some company)
Start swimming again but with a better attitude this year
Get motivated and find a 10k to start training for this winter.
Complete the Rookie Tri in April...with my husband this time
Complete the Danskin Tri in June and beat last years time

Turkey day was good but way too cold for central Texas...highs in the 30's and wet! I miss summer already. Went to the gym this morning and laughed at how crowded the cardio room was. I haven't seen it that busy in months. I'm now running 4 + miles with ease and have really worked on building my cardio over the past few months. It feels good and I'm looking forward to a new year with new goals to strive for. It's nice to see everyone is back on their game...I need accountability to stay on top of my goals.

a: I'm in for the challenge B... except can you define what a 24 mile bile is? Does it require me to puke until I see bile ? ... The only reservation I have about the challenge is I suck at pullups... like... truly and really...it'd take weeks for me to ever work up to 60. I'm at a like.. maybe 10 stage, on a good day. Everything else ... i can DO.

B. Did a local 5k-Jingle Bell Run, yest... it was fun. I pushed my little one in the jogger and still came out w/ a time of 42 or 43 min (can't find the official results anywhere yet).  I walked 1/2 of it & ran 1/2. I thought my time would have been higher. Even though the time isn't great, I'm pleased... because I've been a super lazy butt this fall, and geez, i've had worse times running solo.  There was some (insane) dad that had 2 kids (like.. kid-kids, not babies) in a double jogger and he had a time in the 22 min range! lol. Happy to know i still have some of my base fitness though.

C. IM WI is on Versus today @ 3pm EST everybody

D. I'm soooooo re-inspired by yesterdays IM broadcast.  Lolli rocks!

Man, I'm so discouraged... Running is going JUST okay-- ran 8 miles a few days ago w/o injury and feeling pretty decent-- bike is slipping, and there's no where to swim where I'm at with family. I just feel horribly out of shape and heavy.

I'm actually considering refocusing on only my running, since I really miss my long distance running shape... but I'm also considering beginning long-term training for an Ironman. After volunteering at Ironman Arizona last spring, I was so moved by all the athletes competing in that race.. seeing all their inner strength come through during the day.. I absolutely love pushing myself, mentally and physically, and I think an Ironman would certainly push my limits.

I'm seeing a nutritionist right now, and she keeps telling me that if I eat 2400-3200 cals/day, depending on weekly workout schedule (4 days/week vs. 7 days/week)... but it's really hard to do. It's against the instincts I have about food: want lower body fat %, eat less, work out more.

I'm. So. Frustrated.

I know that I was never officially part of this group (I'm ffpm21's wife), but for some reason, I got an email notification of you last post, and the timing couldn't be better.  I alway enjoyed following your group since you are all so motivated and successful, and now, I'm officially going to do my first sprint triathlon on June 22, and I'm excited and extremely nervous!

It's only 12 weeks away!

just calll my naaa-a -a  -a a me... and I'll be there.... I'LL BE THEREEEEE...

wait I'm here.... lol. okay old silly songs aside. I'm in. I'm 2wks from my first half marathon; have some great late season tri's in mind that I just need to register for.... and will begin the tri plans after having done the the half 5/3.  I'm glad you asked about this because I'm in need of some team challenges.  I've peeked into some other groups, but they've already been going a while etc... don't wanna crash a party that's already in progress, so to speak.

Maybe..? we should hop on over to the 2008 mentor groups and grab ahold of some new faces...to replace the ones we've lost ? Recruit across some of the other forums? Tri-BAMF'S will take over the WORLD!

I WOULD LOVE TO BE A PART OF YOUR GROUP!!!!!!!! PLEEEEZE

STORY – My name is Tracy and I have a new found love of all things fitness! I have been running for about a year and a half. I teach weight training classes and spin at a local gym. I am very interested in starting tri’s. I have not completed one yet but plan to this summer. I have a full time job as an Assistant Director in a preschool. (So I work a min. of 35-40 hour weeks)

FAMILY STATUS- I am 37 and have been married for 17 years in November. I have two children, a daughter 15 and a son 13. (Yep I know two teens)

CURRENT TRAINING – I work out 6 days a week. Training usually varies. I teach 2 wgt training classes and 1 – 2 spin classes per week. In addition, I usually run 15- 25 miles per week. I don’t cycle outside yet…..I have a bike on lay away at the local bike shop. I am hoping to have it paid for in about 2 or 3 weeks.

RACES – I have raced in a few local races: 1 5K, 3 10 Ks and 1 half marathon.

PLANNED RACES - Cinco De Mayo (Run)5/10/2008 in Fayetteville , North Carolina Ramble Half Marathon (Run) 5/17/2008 in Troy , North Carolina
Lake Logan Triathlon (Triathlon) 8/9/2008 in Lake Logan , North Carolina Race for Red (Run)8/16/2008 in Fayetteville , North Carolina
SheROX tri (Triathlon)9/14/2008 in Charlotte , North Carolina
The OBX Marathon (Run)11/9/2008 in Kitty Hawk , North Carolina I AM HOPING TO ADD A SPRINT IN LATE JUNE BUT NOT SURE IF I WILL BE READY .It would be a great first race because the swim is only 250 and in a pool.
WEIGHT – I am at 145 which is not far from where I would like to be. I would love to be at 135!

Count me in! I'm doing OK at the tri specific stuff, but not so well at anything else.  Maybe a core challenge would be best for me, but I'll play at whatever challenge you set up.Smile
