crea0029 - 2008-01-12 12:14 AM I have a lot of stars...does that mean I am really cool?
I sure hope not - 'cause those little stars are REALLY fickle. Go here: http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/statistics/user-listing.as... Look at the right side, and you'll see the different colored stars and what they mean. For example: After 25 posts, you get a green star. At 50 posts, you get a second green star. At 75 posts, you get a third green star. At 100 posts, you get a purple star -- but all your green stars go away! So nope, the number of stars doesn't correlate to how cool we are.

No surprise here that our posting queen would know the answer to this question

So there we were -- getting ready for the November Challenge. I was about the post the team rosters.... Cat and Beth were waiting....

And then I noticed that ALL my stars were gone.

So I searched BT, looking for information about my stars.... In the meantime, Cat and Beth posted about 300 times, asking WHAT WAS TAKING ME SO LONG, and wanting to know WHERE THE TEAM ROSTERS WERE.

Of course, I had no clue that they were waiting (impatiently), because I was looking for my little lost stars....

I don't think they'll ever let me live that one down.... LOL

Anyway, I found the star info. You lose your stars, but gain a different colored one.... Who knew....

Eric - I did a LSD run today because you told me at this point that is more important then time.

I did 10 miles out in the country, it was 45 degrees and sunny, it felt good. The 10 miles is a first for me.

Pam - I still think your very cool! And the cruise sounds great doesn't it...

I will now go and look at everyones logs to see what they did today.

Later gang...

I'm feeling bummed today.  My foot is not feeling good.  I have been doing a lot of standing and walking on it and it is hurting again.  I am not sure what is wrong with it.  I am not going to run on it till I know what I need to do to fix it.  However, that really upsets me because my Jan challenge is running this month   Sadness.... I don't know what to do.

Alright, I used a poor choice of words in saying I had to "run".  I did have to get on with my day.  It is nice finishing up by 10:00 AM so I can have a full day after that.  I finely actually listened to my coach.  I SLOWED DOWN at the start and kept it very steady.  I felt great.  I was on pace for a 4:20 marathon.  Not great but quite acceptable for my goals.  But, the great part is that I did not feel "beat up" by it.  I felt no more tired than if I did a mid-week tempo run.  I had a full day with no difference from a 3:30 run.  I was very careful about lots of hydration.  I put some details in my log.

I plan a short swim tomorrow.

Dee, always like your fun posts.

Eric, thanks for the support.

As to the cruise, sounds fun but I think the main focus is laying in the sun and eating.  Which event is that training for?  I say that with a smile as Peg and I are going on our first cruise out of San Diego in March. We hope to have meet Julie when we return.

Chris, thanks for the advice on the swimming.  It is really needed and well taken!

Mike, thanks for the encouragement.  I will figure out the swimming.

Thanks to all of you.  I hope I can be as good a supporter to all of you when you need it!

I cannot believe it.  I even sleep in (don't get up until 6:00 AM today) and there are no posts for over 10 hours in a row.  I guess we all sit at home on Friday and go out on Saturday.

Feel great after my 21 miles, good coaching is a very good thing!  Off for a full day and a swim this afternoon.

Good Morning everyone!

I cheered on the SeaHawks yesterday but that proved to be just sad.  Now I have to listen to them talk about how fantastic Green Bay is for another week.    Sadness.  Have a great day everyone!

Pam,

Don't worry about the Challenge. Take care of your foot.

Have you gone to the doctor yet?

Challenges are fun, but not "necessary." Your foot however, IS necessary. And we don't want you damaging it further!

If your foot is ok to walk, you can reduce your challenge goal.... But even if you need to withdraw from the Challenge, we can still give you "Official Cheerleader" duties. (Which you can do from the comfort of a chair. If you need pom poms, Beth has a pair. Yes, she really does!)

Dee

Thanks Dee, I think I am going to leave the challenge how it is and see how I am doing by the end of the week.  Then we will make a decision.  Getting into a doctor is proving to be a challenge.  We only have like one sports physician in the Green Bay area and I don't trust general practitioners.  They just don't know enough about injuries.  But I am doing okay and taking care of the foot.

Pam--definitely go see the doc.  This issue keeps coming back and its just going to get worse if you don't solve the problem.  Last June/July I was having lots of foot pain. I was convinced that I had at least one if not several stress fractures in my right foot.  Finally went to the podiatrist in late July.  He prescribed a simple orthotic insert for my work boots and I haven't had any issues since then.

Well it's a new week to do exceptional things... I will do as Emerson told me on the running, so today is a long brisk walk, my dog will love that.

I hope everyone wakes with a great attitude and plenty of gratitude for all their blessings. We should use every ounce of our abilities and leave nothing behind when we are gone except a great example as how to live life!!!!!

I love watching all of you progress, you are a great inspiration to me! Thanks!

We have a two hour school delay because of snow, not much, just enough to make it slick...I love the snow.

Have a great workout Monday!!!!!

Good sound advice coming from such a FUNKY CHICKEN! Love the new Avitar Dee...hope you are having a good Monday

Pam...Dee is right...do not hurt the foot further...go to the doctor and have it looked at. If you are having issues with getting to a doctor...go to a Running store and have them see if the shoes you are wearing are being strapped too tightly or maybe they do not have the proper arch support...amazing how much I learned by buying my last pair of shoes...but you have to go to a RUNNING store not a sports store! Take it easy and do some crunches, push ups, swim.....you will feel better and it will keep you off your foot! Have a good Monday dear!

Thanks for all the advice about the foot... the plan is either to get to the doctor or running store as soon as I get back to college because right now I have limited access to both.  I am being good... staying off of it as much as possible.  The biking doesn't hurt so I am adding up the miles there.

Question for those who have a trainer, how do you measure distance? or do you just go off of time or do you estimate distance?

Worked late. Staggered home. Ate and updated the Challenge results. Felt better after eating, so I did a mile on the treadmill.

And on tap for tomorrow: Another long day at work. Bleh!

That said, I think I still owe you a glitter:

(I just said I owed you a glitter. I didn't promise it would be PRETTY! LOL)

Work was a bit stressful for me as well.  We announce earnings and the capital infusion plans tomorrow.  I don't think it will effect my group but it is a bit unnerving to wait around for a potential dividend cut, a potential 20B write-off and 20M plus in layoffs.  It is very distracting.  We find out at 6:30 AM EST and the conference calls will go on all day.  I think I would rather be swimming laps in an Ice Bath than wading through tomorrows calls.  But, after almost 29 years in the business the one thing I do know is that we will get through this just like any other past crisis.

I look forward to getting this week behind us...
