Jeni- have a blast! You will do great, can't wait to hear about all the fun you have.  I'll be absent probably starting tonight--though I may hop on tomorrow at some time.

My mantra for the next couple of days: I am confident, I am ready, I did the training, I will have fun, I will race hard, and I will be a marathoner at the end of the weekend!

WOOWHOOOO!!!! It was awesome.  When is the next race?!?!

could not have asked for it to go any better! But I am tired after filling out the race report and updating my log so you'll have to go there to check it out. But I totally surprised myself with my time and where I finished in the pack. Hopefully Britts race tomorrow goes just as well.

WHEWWWEE!!! I'm on a high!

Brit - you just ROCK!  Congrats on finishing and BQ'ing.  That is just so great.  I am sure you have many more marathons in your future.

Jeni - great job as well!  I am also very impressed with you.  You guys are just out there and getting it done.

Rock on teammates!  You guys are just getting it done.

Hey y'all! THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR AWESOME AND KIND WORDS!! I love these sports--I am still in shock of it all.  The details are all up in the Race Report now, but that hardly captures the enormity of the training and results for me personally--results are so much more than just the numbers and BQ too.  If I can encourage y'all with the biggest thing I learned from this: the training is often harder than the race, but that makes the race just THAT much more fun!  Hope y'all have an awesome week...I'm anxious to get in the pool and on the bike soon!

Well, adrenaline kept me from sleeping much last night...but I'm okay. Soreness in the legs set in and it moved to different parts of them: quads/hammies/butt today as my parents and I painted my kitchen/breakfast area/living room.  They were great though, and when I had to take some sit breaks, they didn't mind. I am about to stretch some more, but definitely feeling it some--but everytime I feel it, I just get thrilled about what happened again!

Haha, I had to work with my free labor help when I had them!! I didn't do much yesterday after the race but eat some GOOOOOOD BBQ! My Mom drove me back and we just chilled out here.  They say blood flow helps recovery, so hopefully today helped!

Light moving around is definatley good for you... it gets the blood flowing, helps keep the muscles loose so you should be moving around alot better because of it!

Britt= superwoman!!!

And I joined you... I totally fell over clipped in on my bike today. Was going up to a cross walk and decided to unclip my right foot even though I was making a small left turn... WHAM!  man did I bounce right up though out of sheer embarrassment because there were a ton of people around.  And there was a serious cycling guy there-- HIS QUADS WERE HUGE!!! he asked if I was ok, I said yeah, I only hurt my pride, and then he asked what happened? Said I unclipped the wrong foot (didn't add this was like my 4th ride with LOOK pedals).  He nodded and when the light changed wished me a good afternoon and flew away.

Tipping over put a few more scratches on my bike the embarrassment doesn't compare to the elation of conquering HILLS, HILLS, AND MORE HILLS on this beautiful day!!!  I am becoming mentally stronger and more determined.

And this is why you all want to move to Vancouver now

And my reward for achieving my goals for today and then some!!! (check out my log to see the and then some pics).

hope all of you had an awesome day too!!!!

Beautiful scenery, Jeni! And awesome climbing! My hubby nicknamed me "Crash" when I first went to clipless pedals. Going was good, stopping and starting..CRASH... I was afraid I would be entering T2 on my butt. Thankfully got the hang of it before my first tri.

hehe Crash!!! Well lets see I almost landed in a lake.... fell in front of some cars at a red light and still have a bad habit of skipping my foot across the concrete when I unclip to stop!

It doesnt help i changed from speedplay to look cleats recently either... its like a whole now world all over again!

The only good thing about falling clipless is you are almost always stopping or starting and going SLOW so you shouldnt really get hurt....

Cat- I just saw the name-line up there on the mentor group title--you're too funny! But sure I can call this home! Y'all and so many awesome people here were more instrumental in the whole thing than you can know--so much is mental, and when you the sweet encouragement like I get here, it's awesome.  Thanks to ALL of you!

We got the painting done, and I'm pretty tired--but the legs need some loosening so I'm going to do a very EASY spin on the bike.  Tomorrow I'm headed to the pool.  Won't be doing anything major this week, but definitely getting back into it! I may do a nice outside recovery ride (if the weather allows) on Sat. with another lady from here who ran on Sunday too.

Jeni- Funny you mentioned the falling over half-clipped in...when I was walking to the car with my folks after the race, we saw a guy go to answer his cell phone half-clipped in, and over he went! Then, my swim coach who was out there riding around the course cheering us on, wrote a nice congrats note to all those she coaches and she said she waited to fall over until she was....right near the finish line area with lots of folks watching! Seems to be the nature of the beast!

Hi Britt - glad you liked it! I thought it might make you smile... thought i would leave it up there for a week!

Good idea on the spinning to keep the legs loose - you seem to have pulled up really well compared to some of the post marathoners Ive spoken to in the past!
