somewhere about 3 pages back Spokes made a comment about Yanti being in his pants...had I had something to drink in my mouth I would have owed DH a new laptop My kids knew it was Scott as soon as I lost it and I had to explain away about a page of Nibbs insanity

Scott, you have a way with teenage girls--I'd send them your way but they'd probably make you hate anything resembling a female after that...We had an incredibly difficult ride to the dentists office with them bickering.  To the point that I insisted on complete silence on the ride home (thing 2 fell asleep which helped) It's a 40 minute ride made a whole lot longer with the nonsense going on between those two...

I feel your pain... (I am not encouraged though cuz mine are younger than yours)

it does get better!  I promise

when? At this rate I'm thinking when they're out of the house and in their own places (which will no doubt be filthy since they can't be bothered to put anything away...)

Are you sure you don't have my kids? This sounds hauntingly familiar.

That's wishful thinking... My sis and I still argue and we're in our 30's with 600 miles in between us... and yes, mom hears about it and often is in the middle of it.  I still remember us living together and calling mom in the middle of the night arguing over the thermostat (I was 18 and her 22 at the time)  Maybe I should be glad I have boys.

maybe it's a universal?? All I know is they leave stuff everywhere and blame each other when it can't be found.  Thing 1 has bangs today which she didn't have yesterday.  Hmmm," how did they get there?"  says mama..."I don't know but it's Carrie's fault" says Rachel (huh??) we were all asleep--I pick them up from school and she has bangs (which look okay but a bit roughly cut and she hates them)  And it's her fault if she can't find stuff she's left on the floor...

Uh, yeah, that's why one sister lives in the Netherlands and the other in NY, a brother in GA and the other in NY (the brother and sister in NY DO NOT get along at all--but she doesn't get along with anyone and blames all of us)

Thanks Kendra!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes, the foot did fine!  I went super slow - and I mean slow, but no pain - woo hoo

No worries on the memory Kendra - it's been a comedy of injuries that have plagued it starting with PF last May/June timeframe

Yeah, I'm so glad your foot did well.  Just make sure to keep it well stretched to keep the bad PF away.  There is hope for the rest of us.  Yeah.

I would commiserate but my turn for whiny kids isn't up yet ... with any luck it'll be after my parents pass so they can't gloat ...

On a brighter note, I am still in Scott's pants

Yanti, you ALWAYS get a parents revenge child--even if there's only one...The child who makes the stuff you pulled look completely ANGELIC and makes you want to rip your hair out...Thing 2 is that in many ways and I totally understand her which is the frustrating part for me...

We used to call "Quiet Car".  We did this with work though rather than with teens.  I used to do programs with the library, puppet shows and such and one person did not know how to stop talking.  So we started calling "quiet car" to shut her up.  She did not believe us the first time we did it, but we pretended that we had been doing it for years.

Exactly. DD is so strong-willed. I can't count how many times I have simply left her in the throws of some drama tantrum about NOTHING! (And my mom just giggles when I vent about it) DS is mouthy and loves to jerk DD's chain. Oh, yes. It was a fun, fun Christmas break. Right now they are little angels, asleep in their beds.

Oh, yeah... my sister has one of those, as well... P was a handful in HS... and it is interesting to watch her handle her HS daughter... fortunately, my sister is a nurse... and pretty much shoots straight from the hip.

Good news to all of you.  Your kids do grow up and even if they don't get along, they move out of your house and you don't have to hear it day afer day after day after day after day, etc.

Of course you may to encourage them to leave home.  Our daughter went off to school and basically never came back home (weekends and summers don't count).  She got married when she graduated and is still happily married.  Our son, we had to finally nudge him out the door at the ripe old age of 23.  Now he is human to us again and we actually enjoy his company.

well, you do get to grow into that phase, unfortunately it's all those other stages preceding and after it that make it stink-o.  Still wouldn't give them up for anything--even when they tick me off beyond words

Handcuffs and a chastity belt. Although my sister and I were teenage Houdinis--because of my dad's political status, we lived in what was basically a fort, with every single window/door/cranny alarmed, lasers crisscrossing the grounds, armed guards, Dobermans, nine-foot-high fences with spikes on the top ... and we still knew how to sneak out!!!

See why I'm a little hesitant on the kid front?

Aw, carp, I knew it! See, I look at other people's kids and I'm like, hey, that'd be great, I'd love to have kids (like those) ... the problem is, I'm gonna wind up with kids like ME!

Im with ya.... for the first time in my life Im finding babies cute and think I might like one at some point...

But one like me, especially me as a teenager... ummm... yeah... not sure how I would cope with that!

You and my son would have gotten along famously.  He was an escape artist.
