uhcoog - 2011-11-10 9:22 PM Ummm question.  I may know someone looking to back out of their IMTX spot.  Lets say he is willing to sell it to me.  Is that okay rule wise?

I'm with Kel.  It's too dangerous to attempt and if something happens you'll be banned from ever doing a WTC race again.

Instead, you can work on figuring out a way for us to patrol the bike and run courses during the race (e.g., Vespa scooter).

Either I totally missed something or I don't have a clue what n=1 or n=2 is?Also, I would be on the bike more, or at least some, if my crotch wouldn't mind.I think I am trying to do the cumulative volume for the goofy race. Just don't have it in me to do multiple 4-5-6 hour runs. Good thing is I am in much better shape and am pretty much running all races and runs vs run/walk. Trying to get a lot more strength training in to make sure my body is better prepared. My only problem is my glutes are still sore from doing multiple longer runs and shins are a little sore from added mileage.

It is a fomula from statistics relating to variance from the mean.  "n" represents the sample size and "1" representing the number of observations.  in the context Kelly is using it,  it means [stats pun, ha, yes big dork here] "every person is an individual" and subject to different parameters for improving fitness.

my n=2 comment was a joke and may be disregarded.

the goofy race is crazy.  sort of like triple-t.  just not sure those kinds of races would be fun.  i really enjoy eating and drink in excess after a race.  not gearing up for another one.

here is a post: "No Poseidon, calm your rage ! The harpies shall not be let loose just yet. The warriors have proven their worth. They should at least be left to pass another test. 4

Nope.

WTC oversells every race knowing that a certain percentage of registered participants wont show up on race day (for example about 3000 people signed up for IMFL 2011 but only 2400 started).  Once general entry slots are sod out the only ways to get in are through community foundation slots (there are about 300 community slots for each full that involve the registration costs plus a $650 donation to the Ironman Foundation) or by buying a package from one of the WTC's partner organizations (e.g. Mark Allen online which sells you a race entry along with a training program for like $2000).

That whole page is a freaking classic. i want to do the race just to keep my Argonaut status, if this thing flies for 10 years, can you imagine how we will be heralded by Matt then, lol.

While i will not sign up for it on Jan 1st this year, or whatever day it opens, it is nice to get that 15% discount, and cannot get a better venue for a destination race.

I am soooo in for it, this year i will actually train prior to it.

Made me feel a little insensitive about what I'd written in response to Shaun's race report.  I respect what you wrote too, Shaun, and I'm sorry you had a hard day.  I just really like your sense of humor in your writing, even if you are writing about difficult things.  That's all.  Hope I didn't offend!

Well there's warm up and the time you'll need to shower and come back to cheer on the BOP'ers, so you're right  11+ hours.

I'm doing laundry!

Our washing machine broke on the Friday before the freak storm so between the broken washer, the power outage and traveling for IMFL, I am able to wash clothes for the first time in 2 weeks.  I was down to wearing sweatpants all day because I was out of clothes.

You failed to register for the race so you were automatically relegated to local-area guide and sherpa.  Don't want to sherpa?  There are a few community slots still available.

I agree, great race report Shaun.  I'm sorry you had a bad race, but I can relate.  The part about you stopping to help that person with the flat almost made me cry.  I cannot believe you did that.  I don't know that I could ever do something like that (although I'm no use with flat tires anyway), not many would have stopped.  I bet they will always remember the SUPER nice guy at IMFL.  Unbelievable!

Isnt' TX still open?  Why don't you just register Scott???  You know you want to.
