Just catching up here after a long couple of days. We visited my husbands 93 yo grandfather in his new nursing home in MA - so a nice 6 hour trip for us to spend a couple hours in a nursing home. We hit 2+ hours of traffic on the way home in NY to add to the trip and the topper was a vomiting child at midnight! Yay us!

The highlight for me was getting to meet Shaun, was hoping to meet Kelly too, but got to meet their dog Abbey! I'm trying out her old tri bike!!!! Got to pick it up and ogle over it. Hoping to put the pedals on tomorrow and actually ride it! Thanks Shaun and Kelly!

We had girl scout Cupcake Wars today!! Girls had a blast and the librarians (judges) had fun tasting all their creations too! Fun times, but glad that it over...hoping for some normal days soon, but its looking like I need it to January for that! Philly half marathon next weekend!!

I would just add that I have a jacket with zip off sleeves... Invaluable! Keeps me warm in the beginning, then take off and stuff in pocket and keep the vest on. I tend to wear glasses in the winter. Somehow keeping my eyes covered keeps me a little warmer. Lastly, haven't found a hat better than my manzella tahoe... Light, warm, wicks sweat but you don't get hot.

Super excited with my run today. About 1:54 for 10 miles. What makes this so exciting is that if I can hold that for my half in 2 weeks, or close to that pace, I will do my first ever 1/2 at or under 2:30!!! I feel like I am finally starting to make progress. I had really peaked in march this year, then dealt with a hip flexor injury for the next several months.

Pictures from the cupcake wars?

My girlfriend Claudia is running the Philly half next weekend too.  You two are about the same pace, it'd be funny if you ended up finishing with each other.

Also I need to say I'm super impressed with Abbey's nails.  She screams like a baby whenever I try to clip her nails.

Long run this morning and then lots and lots of homemade waffles.  Definitely made up for the calorie deficit from the run   Now....I'm going to act like a sloth for the rest of the day.

Have a great day, all!

Trail running is dangerous. I have not been on the trails in quite some time. Met some friends this morning, along with Tom & our 3 dogs. Tom walked 2 while I ran 1 for almost 9 miles. Felt really good but I caught my foot on a tree root and face planted. Elbows scraped up, left hand bruised, chin cut and bruised pretty bad from landing on a rock I think. But, the worst is my left knee, hurts a lot and can hardly bend it now. I kept running after because I'm tough that way, but now I'm feeling quite beat up. I'm such a klutz!

9+ miles with my little running group.  pretty good pace for a hilly run.  my friend allen, who is going through a divorce was regaling us with a story about his trip to some bar in Greenwich, CT to try and pick up chicks.  Sufficed to say it dd not work, but was a very funny story.

Getting ready for the giants 49ers game, have some friends coming over, hopefully the kids will all entertain each other so the boys can watch the game.

Went out this morning for a ride with the team today. We had 35 & 56 mile SAG supported options. Went expecting to ride the short.route and ended up doing the long. Holiday potluck afterwards.

No idea. Weather is alll over the place here right now ... 30's this past week, 60 today.I need to decide, do I wear the kswiss kwicky blades cuz they are so light and put moleskin on? Or wear the "always there for me kayanos" even though they are several ounces heavier?

I just take Briggs to petsmart for nail trims .... Not worth the fight trying to do them myself. Plus the dog walker clipped them down so low 2x I came home to a bloody massacre all over the house.

Is there anything special you do when going for a PR? When you know it will be close. The course has changed with alll the elevation towards the 2nd of the course. I was thinking maybe run the course all the way through next weekend--- slow recovery pace

Back on my bike this morning for a Spinervals ride.  Troy used to be Conrad's best friend's mother's triathlon coach (you know, the one who is now a coach herself).  She's in a bunch of the Spinervals dvds.  It's really weird to pop in a dvd and see someone I know really well on it.  LOL

Lots of kids are sick here at my house, so today will be spent coddling the sickies.  Poor Gordie has a nasty cough (probably the one I had last week).  Madge got in trouble at school, so I have to talk to the teach via phone this afternoon.  I'm absolutely dreading it.

What distance? a prerun of the course is always a good idea.  For a longer race (half or mary), the week before is (for a mary) or  may (for a HM)  be too close to race.  for 5 or 10 k definitely.  You could always bike it too.

morning all.  The puppy is like a freaking kid.  He was up barking at 3 AM, could not fall asleep until 4, woke up at 6.  These things completely screw me up.  I ALWAYS get up at 5 and either work or workout.  since getting the puppy a month ago all of that is back into the soup of life.  ARGGH.

Happy birthday Karen.
