You all have to admit it is a bit weird my getting all excited and worried about a half when I was the one that did 2 marys in, what, 3 weeks?  Those were getting through ... this is about getting faster

One of the guys I ran with asked me why I was so worried about getting faster ... I said for one thing, so I will have people to run with, secondly, my training runs and races would be over a lot sooner!  Lastly, the faster I am the more confident I am, and the more confident I will be about doing an HIM!!!  Yes, it is in my future ... eventually

Morning, peeps!

Easy run early this morning, and then I'm going to squeeze in a short yoga session after I drop the kids off at school.  I'm heading to the pool for an easy swim tonight, too.  I did intervals on the bike yesterday, and my quads were so sore.  I had to take some tylenol mid-day.  LOL  I was off the bike for 7 weeks, and boy did I lose some bike fitness!  Easy to get back, but still!!!!

Soooooo excited for Thanksgiving.  I love stuffing!!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes, it's been a great day.  Except, I don't know the last time I didn't go for a run on my birthday.  Today my knee is still sore so no run. Frown Or any exercise for that matter, just a whole lot of food!

Tomorrow I'm going to start the Paleo (athletes version) and see how that goes.  The last time i tried it I lasted all of 3 days.  Hoping my planning is better this time.

You're going to go Paleo a week before Thanksgiving Surprised

Uh yeah.  Karen you may want to rethink this.  I am not one to doubt the will power of anyone, especially women, but this is a recipe for failure.

Today I went to the gym with the intentions of hitting the track and maybe the pool, but after the frustration that was my day yesterday I lifted and did yoga.  Feel much better now.  I'll have to hit the treadmill and trainer later today.  One of my accounts wants to cut their payments by 1/3 yet still receive the same level of service so I'm having to put together a presentation justifying our fees.  I can feel another frustrating day in the making.

Carrie - you are going to reach your goal for sure!!! Is your HM Saturday or Sunday? Mine is Sunday. I heard there are some hills in the Philly one also from about mile 9 on.

Karen - I agree with Jen, starting Paleo before T-day!? I hope you had a great birthday!!!

Shaun essentially started a Paleo-ish diet yesterday (restricting his carb intake to vegetables and some legumes).  If Thanksgiving dinner is just one cheat meal, its not worth putting it off for another 2 weeks (but that's just my take).

I think most people want to get faster but for some people its about completion and the journey.  Obviously I don't understand that mind set, I do recognize that it exisits.

That's kind of my thought.  I keep putting it off and I just need to start.  Funny thing is we typically have a vegan Thanksgiving with lots of veggies anyway.  We tried tofurkey one year, but it tasted like stinky socks, so we did traditional dishes all vegan recipes minus "meat".  So I'm kind of excited about having actual turkey this year.  Green beans with almonds, and spaghetti squash.  I'm not a mashed potato fan so that's not a problem.  I do however like stuffing and pumpkin pie.  Maybe there's a paleo recipe I can try.

Finally got my histogram for the first half of 2012 (I don't get the second half of 2012 until after IMTX -- I guess we're not planning for the end of the year until I know if my A race will be in October or November).  I havea list of dates that I'm supposed to find races for, but the dates end up being pretty bad.  Here's the list -- I'd be curious if you guys have any thoughts:

12/17 & 18 - 5K - Sommerville Jingle Bell 5K (huge 5K, fast course)

1/14 & 15 - 5K - Snow Dash 5K (Jeff-y and I did this last year, twisty course)

2/11 & 12 - 10K - I'm thinking of asking to bump it up to a half and running the St. Petersburg Half (and Shaun can get his weekend trip to Tampa)

3/10 & 11 - 13.1 Miles - I can't find a half.  I'm thinking of asking to do an Olympic and doing the Miami 5150.  I want to race in heat before Texas.

4/7 & 8 - Half - This is Easter Weekend.  No halfs exist.  I'm sure I'll be able to slot anything.

4/28 & 29 - Olympic - St. Anthonys.  More heat.  I'm not sure how happy Shaun will be with 3 trips to Florida.

Because the date doesn't work.  The first half of my year is planned out and I use races as fitness checks at the end of rest weeks.  I can't just race randomly in the middle of a build and the focus is getting the best possible preparation for Texas, not just fitting in races I like.

Oh they pay on time.  Well they didn't but I got that fixed.  It's that in June they cut the base number they pay us per covered life by 1/3 and now they want to cut the new number by 1/3 again without any changes to the level of service we provide.  Issue is that at that point I'm losing money on the account.

3 weekend trips to florida?  It will be SOOOOOO funny when you guys eventually have kids.

I'll do that stupid snow dash with you again, although that course was just awful.  Anyway your coach can juggle your schedule so you can run Christopher Martin's on 12/11?  I just checked Hitek and there is a 5k in fairfield on 12/18, why go to somemerville, MA for a stupid 5k?

I'm lucky that if I'm on the trainer or treadmill and this happens I can change the TV from Sports Center to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the girls will sit in thier beanbag chairs, eat some cereal, and let me finish my workout.

The fairfield 5K is a tiny race.  I want a big race with lots of bunnies to chase.  Plus we'll be in Boston on the 17th so I think we'll just stay over with friends.

You need to set up some sort of play area by your trainer, and then she can play and talk to you at the same time.  Kevin and I were just saying that no one gets any freakin sleep in my house.  Kids are up and down all night long - water, pee trips, nightmares, etc.  Gah!!!  I am so tired.  I get up at 5 every day, and Conrad (6) and Gordie (3) are right there with me.  Madge (4) and Freddy (20 mos.) sleep until 6:45.  LOL

I think asking your coach if you can replace the 10k with a half, do the oly instead of the 3/10 half, and then find a 10k or 10-miler around Easter sounds reasonable.

3 weekend trips to florida?  It will be SOOOOOO funny when you guys eventually have kids.

Simple.  We won't be taking the trips once we have kids.

I've told Kel that I will indulge this opportunity for another year but if she gets pregnant, she's going back to being an "experience participant" and not a "racer."

She can still be racer.  She'll probably just have to race closer to home.
