Artemis - 2008-10-20 9:14 PM Howdy peeps! I'm eating some pop tarts and taking a break from knitting. I have one ear flap/tie done. One more to go and this hat is done.

I think I saw a pic of a completed sock while scanning nibbs when I finally got back to the office to day? Was I imagining things or is the wardrobe coming together?

Not imagining things.  It's also in my blog.  The hat is a gift for my sister for Christmas.  I'm making another one for my brother's girlfriend.  They're both almost done, then I might be able to do something for myself.

We really only have chips and pop tarts that are interesting.  Unfortunately, I'm still hungry after the pop tarts.

sesh - 2008-10-20 10:13 PM Hey, Mila!  Did you not drive right through Jackson on the way to Longhorn?

Ummm... maybe... but I wasn't flying the plane and they wouldn't stop even though I asked nicely .

Loved the video.  So, uhhh, if you need to ride some hills you could come to Atlanta.  We have quite a few.  We have mountains, too.  They make me askeered. You are familiar with the Tour de Georgia, n'est ce pas???  Yep, you, too, can fly down those hills at unreasonable speed!!!

Edited cause I hit submit too soon.  Duh.

Ahhh yes.  I suppose flying makes a difference :P

I definitely have wanted to go to the Tour de Georgia and do a little down hill flying.  It's getting to the top of them that is bleh.

LOL... indeed, though I'm OK with the uphill, you know it's gonna suck... but the downhills make me askeered.

On a much more serious note, there was a cyclist that died here during the 6 Gaps Century a few weeks ago.  Six mountain passes.  Ridiculously tough ride.  She crashed on a descent.  Very, very sad.

Oh, I can only imagine!!!  My scavenger cat always tries to get the popcorn and he is fascinated by the popper.  The dogs can hear a piece of popcorn fall to the ground from anywhere in the house.  It's great entertainment value on so many levels.  Hmmmm... it seems maybe I need to get a little more of a life...

I've maxed out around 45 mph going down a hill during the Horribly Hilly Hundred.  It was scary and exhilarating, but probably more scary.

Phew, I'm glad you didn't say that outloud.  Yup, it's a very popular ride here.  Totally hardcore.  You can do three gaps or six, depending on your hardcore-itude .  The lady was from Miami... guessing not much experience on climbs/descents of that magnitude.  Definitely a tragedy that hit the tri and cycle community here hard.

I've been too chicken to break 40 but it's one of my goals.  I probably could have done it on one of the MS150 descents but my problem is that I start thinking about my house.  Lord knows if I had bitten it on that ride my house was in total disarray... wouldn't want anyone to have to come deal with that .

Exactly!!!!!  Also, you might be able to relate to this since you know southern women... and I am not a southern belle so this was new to me when I moved here... but the concept of "funeral food" to be left in the fridge when you go out of town with the girls?  Yes, really, the first girls weekend I went on after moving here I went with two friends originally from Alabama and 1 from GA.  In the car they asked each other what funeral food they made.  So here I am going "OMG!!!  Who died????" you know, figuring we all run in the same circle.  Nope.  It was food they made and left in their fridges/freezers for their husbands/children in case something happened.  I needed to text my friends in the northeast immediately with the WTF?  *giggle* and What on earth have I gotten myself into down here? types of texts.

Hah!  Yeah, I've heard of that, though if the hubby/kids can't figure out take out then they have problems.  Plus, when somebody dies, it's common for everyone they know to make a casserole for the family anyway.  I think you were safe.
