Thank you all!!  It was a lot of fun (after a turbulent start to the very early morning) but unfortunately I have no idea what my time was.  I forgot my watch then didn't see the time clock when I came in so I'll have to wait until they post the results to see how I did!

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend.  Mine was hermit like.  I realized today that I hadn't driven my car or left the house since Saturday morning.  I did get out today some.  The weather has been snowy, rainy, foggy & gray.  That probably has something to do with it.  They say the sun may return on Wednesday, Yay!!

So here's my problem that I've been thinking about lately and may have solved.  Running is hard for me.  My heart rate is usually in zone 4/5 from the beginning.  That makes it very tiring as well.  I also have some mild asthama.  I finally figured out that if I use the inhaler shortly before the run (give it enough time for the shakes to wear off) my heart rate actually stays more in zone 3.  And I don't feel so exhausted afterwards.  It's worked twice now so I think I'll stick with it and maybe I can improve my running capability.

There was something else I was going to mention but I've forgotten it.  That's what happens when I stay up too late.   Stare at the blinking cursor for 10 minutes waiting for a thought to come through............Nothing yet.  So, good night.

It's the time of year. If I hadn't promised to meet someone for swimming on Sunday afternoon, I would not have left the house.

This is very interesting and encouraging to me.  I have an albuterol inhaler (also have mild asthma).  Quit using it last year when I started swimming because between the spike in HR and just being nervous in general about swimming, I was having panic attacks in the water.  I continued to use it for running for a while, but then one day forgot and had the experience you describe of the lowered HR and just feeling better afterwards. Quit using it altogether, although there are still times when I think I should use it.

Also tried some HR training for a while but I think the albuterol made this problematic.

Time Smime!  I cannot tell you the times from 99% of my races but I do remember the people, pagentry, and feeling of movement from all of them!  Way to go Michelle!

Hi all...I have a ride on tap for tonight...

And a question...I am essentially going to be off my training plan this week (life just got in the way...Sunday vacation, Monday on call, Wednesday dinner event (but I am going to try to ride afterwards), Thursday on call (but again I am going to try to ride tomorrow morning), Friday drive eight hours to Missouri, Saturday Grandfather's 90th B-day party, Sunday drive eight hours back to Chicago (again will try to ride when I get home))

Soooo....what should I do...repeat this week next week and push everything back a week (I would have to check but I think I have an extra week or two at the end befofre my tri in June)....Or just move on and do the next week?

Hey Folks,  Sorry I haven't been checking in much the last couple of days.  Can't seem to shake the dark cloud that's been hanging over my head the last week or so.  Let's just say the workouts are about the only thing keeping me sane at the moment.  Hope things get back to normal soon.  I'll fill in more later.  Thanks for the well wishes.

If at all possible, do something tri related every day.  Short run, few laps in hotel pool, exercise bike, etc.  Building strong habits is....well, habit forming.   Resume your plan when you get back and enjoy some time away....

Head cold today. I can't wait for this season to be over with. Seems like it's been one right after another. Anyway, I gonna rest today. Especially since my nose just worse when I move around a lot. Hopefully get back on track tomorrow.

Feeling a bit better today.  At least my nose isn't like a faucet yet.

It's gonna be a long day.  My blog explains more.  I probably won't be online much today.

Hope y'all have a good one.

I found this in a BT article and it spoke to me.....I might help you (might not):

Motivation comes from habit formation. A friend of mine has done a good deal of research on habit formation. The result? It takes six to eight weeks to imprint a new habit. Grab hold of this next part. It is critical that you drag, scold, promise, or do whatever it takes to get your body out of bed, or during lunch – whenever – to some kind of physical activity. It is much more important to do this every day for six to eight weeks regardless of how much your brain and body might want to resist. Doing it is more important than how long you do it! Still with me? If you get up fifteen minutes early five days out of the week for six weeks and walk for ten minutes a day the first week than add just 60 seconds a day for the remaining five weeks, I promise you that your 35 minute daily walk will provide a motivational foundation that will translate into a fitness lifestyle. You build from this point on and your short range and long range goals kick in here to provide the content of your physical activity. You will discover that instead of your body crying out for the couch, it will fuss at you when a workout has to be missed. The bad brain disease will absolutely turn around and instead of providing excuses to opt out of the promises to change, your mind will be searching your schedule for time to take care of your physical being.

Isn't that what you preach, John?!   Funny how true it is....I feel like crap if I don't do anything all day.  Even just a walk around the block or some ab work makes me feel better!

Hope all is well with everyone today!!  I'm hoping my hubby can get home early enough tonight for me to get to cycle class otherwise, I will most likely do a run.

that is a great post John, especially during these nasty winter days when it would be so much easier to just curl up on the couch and veg (not that I don't do my share of that too).

michelle, have a great run or bike class, whichever it ends up being!  Hope you are all having a great Thursday.  It's almost the weekend!
