Yeah, Ken.   There's the pot calling the kettle black!

As for me, I just went into the hurt locker. Did a 30 minute cardio effort, 3 miles on 3 degree incline.  Felt strong.  Heart rate in the high 150s to low 160s.

Then I rolled on into the weight room for upper body and did my best dumbbell bench workout ever.  I upper body is toast and I feel like freaking AHHnold right now.

Tim, I'll definitely let you know how things turn out with the running.  I see there is some taper in there.  I wondered how that might work out.  We'll see.

In other news, my new club/tri bike is coming together beautifully.  I will reveal it once I hit the 250s.  I'm so stoked I can barely stand it!

I hope everyone has an awesome day.

I probably won't make it up.  Right now, I'm training by feel.  I need to put together a map for this spring as I need to get off my butt and run.  But I haven't done it yet.

In my best Jim Carrey impression..."so you're saying there's a chance!"

So what would it take to get you to go run 1mi today?  Peer pressure, cookies?

It's March!  The sun is starting to shine more often and the temperature is starting to rise.  There's been a 60* day or two here in Texas already.  I'm getting antsy for some outdoor riding.

I think it's time for another "3 Random Inspires" week.  You know the drill - inspire 3 people that you don't currently "know" by the end of day on Friday.  Report back when you've completed your "homework".

None for me.

Do you have a goal for the 10 miler?

I have a 5k on Saturday and a 10k two weeks later. Today will be my first day running outdoors in years.  Gotta get some miles, however few, in before Saturday.

Very excited!  My goal is to finish strong. I have a friend who is MUCH faster than me, running with me.

Still thinking about that!  I did the 10 mile race last year and it was my first run ever.  I had 1 goal...to run the whole thing.  I have trained so much more over this past year than I did prior to it last year.  I am not a fast runner.  I am not out there to win it.  You guys look at my logs.  You know I am not fast.  I do this for me.  Last year my official time was 1:56, right about 11 1/2 minute mile.  It sounds crazy but my goal is 10 1/2 minute mile but I really think I can average 10.  I felt great after my run on Sunday and I was shocked that I did a 10 minute mile.  I think I can keep that pace for the whole run the end of this month.

No races for me this month, I have nothing really happening till May when I have a 10k run that I am doing with some of my beginner bootcampers, so not there for me, but for them and my first Tri.  I am still contemplating a 1/2 marathon in the beginning of May, but not sure if it is wise to that 2 weeks before my tri?  Any thoughts?

Meggan,

Compared to me you are a speed demon! Sounds like you are on your way to your goal. Great job!

Patrick,

I can not judge or pace myself with other people. Finish strong is a good goal! Good luck on the running outdoors. I ran with the first Aquathon a couple weeks ago outside and I really liked it as opposed to the indoor track. I hope you really enjoy it!

Busy week going on work-wise.  I've reset the alarm 3 days so far this week which means I've missed 3 swims.  I did get out an run last night.  It was short but it was something.

How is you're week going?

Week is ok here.  Just tired of dealing with annoying people!  Kids are driving me nuts but that is to be expected!  Hoping to get to the Y for my Thursday night swim tonight.  Nothing too exciting.

It's been a rough week.  I've been "under the weather" but not full blown sick, so I've just been feeling blah.  Last night I was definately feeling better, and I'll find out tonight if that holds when I get out to do my hill repeats...doing 5 this week.

I am finally feeling better and am back into the swing of things here at work. Thanks for everyone checking in on me.  After checking the internet it looks like I had a cold.  Wife just came down with the stomach flu going around so hope she doesn't pass that on to me!

Got in a run yesterday and will be riding my new bike on the streets today (instead of a closed bike only course).  And then get in a swim tomorrow.  Plan this weekend is another bike and run, just not sure what days yet.

Thought I would pass this on since it is for a good cause.  Aqua Sphere is holding a swim challenge and donating money to cancer research.  Here is the text from the email...

Will you swim for cancer research?

Aqua Sphere, the company that's all about comfort and long-lasting performance,
wants to find out.

As a proud sponsor of the Swim Challenge, we encourage swimmers of all ages and abilities to log their hours in the water in an effort to raise funds and awareness for Breast and Prostate Cancer.

And to make things interesting, we've also made it a battle of the sexes!

Sign-on and sign-up on March 1, 2010 at www.swimchallenge.org where, starting April 1 through November 30, you can log your hours to help raise funds for cancer research and to determine who really rules the pool - guys or girls.

In the end, we will donate $35,000 to be split between the Prostate Cancer Foundation (men) and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (women). Allocations will be determined by the cumulative hours swum by each gender.

The Swim Challenge website will track the total time, men vs. women, via a "leader meter" posted on the website which you can also download as a widget for your desktop so you can keep tabs on the competition.

See you in the pool!

Thanks Tim!  I posted that on my mom's group.  I know we have a few swimming mamas.  I think two of the moms have triathlete husbands too.  That is how I found out about this site!

One more little outdoor run today.  Maybe 2 miles. Oh, and upper body strength.

The hay is in the barn, as they say in Kentucky.  Race tomorrow morning.  5k.

Wish me luck.

Many thanks to our group for the support, inspiration and encouragement!

I'm following the run with a 55 mile bike ride with friends on Sunday morning.  Good times!

I don't have a tangible goal in mind.  I originally just felt like if I could finish strong I'd be happy.  Maybe I should consider anything under 10 minute mile a nice job.

Patrick,

I gasped at the bike ride. You said it like you were riding to the corner store. 55 MILES! You go!
