Subject: RE: Disturbed275's Group - FULL!!carrie639 - 2010-03-03 7:54 PM Blister question for the runners. I have a blister (or very near) on my left foot at the very front of my arch. I need to keep running, but it is painful. I have used body glide . . . doesn't help. I have tried duck tape (story behind this), sweat rubs its stickiness off, can't change shoes at this point. Are my shoes too loose or maybe too tight? Change socks?
Duck tape story: I used to play competitive ice hockey, but would always get blisters that would turn bloody on my arches in my hockey skates - VERY PAINFUL. So I eventually discovered that I could used duck tape on my arches and wrap it til ti overlayed itself on my top of my foot. Worked perfectly (just had to remember to shave the top of my foot for fear of the duck tape tearing the hair off), but you foot does not move in your skate, very unlike running shoes. I also had a blister in the same place you are describing. It was my own stupid fault. I was traveling on business and forget to bring socks. I was determined to get my six miler in, so I ran on the hotel treadmill sockless--a big purply pink bubble of a blister formed on the inside of my right arch. I attributed it to the arch support rubbing on my foot due to the looseness of the shoe. Anyway, it took a very long time to resolve. The first couple of runs after that fateful run, even with socks, it would blister up again and be painful, but within about a week or so, the pain subsided. It did take a month or so for the blistering and peeling to subside though. That was probably 9 months or so ago, and if I look at the bottom of my foot now, I can still see a pink discoloration on my right arch where the blister once was. No real advice on how to 'fix' it. Blisters are caused by friction, so it sounds like you have some slipping going on with your shoes. Wrapping it with duct tape or bandages should help (and won't hurt ). You might consider trying thicker socks or perhaps lacing your shoes differently to prevent the slipping. Good luck. |
