mndymond - 2010-03-07 6:38 PM Just rode my bike OUTSIDE!!!! ...Just an easy 20k...man ridin and payin attention is different on the road compared to droppin my head down on the trainer! Neck was a little stiff after. O well.

Stacie--Lance is my idol! I would be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous if you went and ot to meet him! I lost my lLance bracelet last month and made my bro sacrifice his to me! EVENING GHOULIES.

i had a fantastic day as well.  one of a different sort i suppose.

worked at the Y and just had a phenomenal time.  it was one of those day where we werent swamped doing lots of mundane tasks, but where i got to talk and really enjoy/hang with the members.

one guy came in about an hour before the Y closed.  non-member.  he's training for a tri in Florida.

turns out hes a Nike employee and works w a group of people who work very closely with Lance/Livestrong to put together all the Nike/Livestrong stuff

of course, being a fellow triathlete, we had loads to talk about and before the conversation was over he invited me to join their team of cyclist at the Livestrong event in Philly in August.

not sure i can swing it, but how FLATTERING it was to be asked to on this team.

lots of other neat conversations happened today, too many to go into.

that one was the highlight.

WHOOP!
stacie

Very cool!

iowagander - 2010-03-07 4:52 PM Happpy Sunday Ghoulies! I just got back a bit ago from volunteering at Gran Fondo San Diego, a big bike event here. My aid station was 10 miles from the end of the 52 and 100 mile courses. Conditions today were RAINY and slick, but they estimated 2800 people showed up to ride anyway. One guy even did the 52 mile course on a unicycle!

We had a couple medical issues and plenty of mechanicals. I pumped a lot of tires, racked a lot of bikes so their riders could go potty, and even helped secure a loose stem or two. All in all a very good day and it was really cool to be on the "volunteer" side of a race.

Bill, one of the riders who stopped at our station was on a Salsa roadie. Are you still going after the Salsa for your Cross bike? This guy had a lot of good things to say about their Cross bikes. Check my album for a pic of this guy's roadie.

Sounds like a good day despite the weather.  Volunteering is very rewarding and almost as fun as racing.

ceilidh - 2010-03-07 1:24 PM Yucky run today. Allergies (to mud I guess) made it almost impossible to breathe. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I have the day off so I can try for my long run then. Guess I am not destined to be a professional mud wrestler!

I am having dinner at a friends house tonight, that should help make things all better! Enjoy your evenings, Ghoulies

I hope there is some wine with dinner.  I heard that helps too

Well, ghoulies I thoroughly exhausted myself today.  I woke up, did 1:20 on the trainer, then I headed to the pool for a quick 2500 yds.  I had a lunch break and then our tri group got together for a group trainer ride (another 1:15) and a short run for a good ol brick workout.  Then, for some reason I decided to clean my apartment when I got home.  If I'm still awake in another hour or 2 it'll be a miracle

Good morning Ghoulies!!!

Looks like there was some good times had by the Ghoulies this weekend.

Dee - Congrats on the bike

Stacie - Wow... just wow, that's sooooo cool.

I had a nice 8 mile run yesterday. I was only planning 7, but I was about halfway into my loop when I realized the way I was going would be longer than 7 miles. Oh well, I felt good, and I could do it, so no harm, no foul.

I took my son, and one of my dogs over to a friends house yesteday afternoon. They have two German Shepherd's which are SO well trained. I love 'em to pieces, the people, and the dogs my son does too. We played in the yard for about an hour in t-shirts. Then we loaded everyone up and went up into the hills where the ground was still completely covered by snow and went for a hike. I'm not sure how far we went but hiking for an hour in the snow is hard work.

We got home just before 5 and I was ready to go to bed then. I didn't go to bed, but I didn't do a whole lot the rest of the day.

Have a slam dunk day everyone!

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-08 8:29 AM Ann(e) sounds like you had a great weekend!  That hike sounds pretty invigorating!

The hike was great!

3 adults, 3 dogs, and my son. My son, and one of my friends had a snowball battle.

My friend is a very outdoorsy guy. He was showing my son how to use shadows as a compass and how to read a topographical map.

While the boys were playing, my other friend and I got to have a very enjoyable hike and chit chat.

* The garmin was attached to the strap of my fuel belt. I guess I put it in the closet after my last long run before my HM, then forgot I had done that. I got the fuel belt out yesterday to take a bottle of water along on my run and there it was. I felt foolish for forgetting that's what I did with it, but I'm happy I found it.

Better than washing it like I did my cell phone in my jacket pocket.  Cell phones just don't recover from 2 extra large wash cycles!

I just laughed.  I buy cheap Virgin Mobile phones and I was getting ready to replace it anyways but unfortunately I had to buy 2 because I was giving my old one to my son to goof around with.

I am waiting for my IPod to be washed someday also!

I'm surprised I haven't washed mine yet.

Morning Ghoulies.  Sounds like everyone had lots going on this weekend.  It was beautiful weather here and the snow is almost gone....yippeee.  I am ready for spring.  Jealous of all the bikers.  I don't have the gear and it's not quite warm enough yet.  I really should go check out what's on sale at the lbs.

I ran 7 on Saturday but my knee was really grumping and I had to walk the downhills.  Not a good sign.  So, I swam on Sunday.  Turns out it was Pervert Day at our Y.  Stacie, do you have those at yours?  Pool was fairly crowded.  Guy in the lane next to me swam maybe 100 - 150 yards in the 30 mins he was in the water.  Mostly he just stood at the wall adjusting himself.  Not sure who was more appalled, me or the poor guy sharing the lane with him.

Morning!

Yesterday I did a "practice" tri with some friends.  Boy was I pooped the rest of the day.  I had wanted to go try out the new bike but it rained really hard.  I just wasn't ready for that much rain already being so tired and hungry.

Believe me I will be watching for my first opportunity to try her out on familiar territory!

Our little indoor practice tri was a lot of fun though!
