Sulcus - 2010-04-18 8:32 PM Hey - the weekend is almost over and I don't have my half-nake Bill member listing for the group!

Just saying...

I hope everyone had a great and productive weekend.

I never received the half naked picture of Bill.

I'll try to find an appropriate picture for the male population tomorrow morning.

I'm reading joe Friel's Triathlete Bible.  Are there any other good tri books to read?  I actually find this site more helpful than any book.

Im doing my first sprint of the season this sat.  Its just a mini sprint so Im concerned about how i should go about it.  400 yrd swim, 12 mile bike, 2.5 mile run, I guess thats a mini???  Any way, I've been swiming alot and Im really just getting warmed up by 400 yrds, 12 miles on a bike is cake, and a 2.5 mile run......  Should I honestly just sprint this joker?
The run is a down and back, or more like a strait up and back down.  Last yr i did this race and I saw only ONE person actually run up this hill!  I was in the group of noobs though.  Im thinking this yr Im in much better shape, and Im just gonna attack it from the start.  Its only 1.25 miles up!  Suggestions?

The distances are fairly short. I'd pace myself in the swim, go hard, but not all out. Go hard on the bike, but leave a little left in the tank. The first mile of the run try to get your legs back under you then the second half of the run give it everything you have left.

AND

MOST IMPORTANTLY

HAVE FUN!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Ive been practicing blowing up my HR in the swim, then bringing it back down while continuing a good pace.  Ive been doing 400s in 7:00-7:15 without ever getting close to my LT.  SOOOOO much better than last year!

The run is pretty much a mountain climb.  Its down hill the entire second half so Id think I want to give it everything Ive got going up. I can always roll back down right????

I try to do just about what she said.  Even though I am slow and even these distances can hurt, I have found that they hurt much less when I smile the whole time.  For some reason, my times also improved too.

Didn't get any training in, but had a great birthday weekend.  I went shopping for some new tires fri night, ended up getting a set of COnti Ultra Gators.  Like I told my wife, I did find a set of tires I wanted, O did I tell you there on a set of wheels .   The shop guys talked me into buying a set of wheels.  Got a set of MAVIC AKSUIM(spelling) wheels.  Seem to be a nice aero lightweight(not to expensive) set of wheels.  Also ended up trying on a Trisuit and decided I might like it better than a two piece, soo got that as well.

Sprint = Joker   man I'm in trouble this weekend then .   I do see how alot of people can SPRINT these short distances, the rest of us will have to try and Finish like its an ironman.   I have tried to get my self as ready as can be, but i'm sure my first one can't go completly right.

definitely not a joker to me....have my 1st "sprint" race at the end of june and still think the label's a total oxymoron.

lots of luck!

good morning everyone!

What's on tap for today?

I need to run today. I'm thinking 5-8 miles depending on the legs, which are quite sore right now.

I'll be heading to the pool later tonight, too.
