heck yeah. my girlfriend just had a baby (YAY!), i have to work till 5, and THEN drive to PA (5 hours +)
FUN.
i want to cancel the PA trip and play with baby gabey tomorrow instead. Babies to play with trumps driving 98% of the time. You are in Virginia aren't you? Do you know anything about the Silver Springs MD area by any chance? Specifically around the NIH/ Walter Reid area? |

Do you know anything about the Silver Springs MD area by any chance? Specifically around the NIH/ Walter Reid area? I go there about 4 times a year for business. Traffic is a nightmare; mass transit is almost a must. Housing is expensive. Job security and selection is good and because it's so government skewed, unemployment is rare compared with other areas. I would go, if the opportunity made it tennable. I'd get the offer and then carefully consider how it would work for you other than the 4 walls of work. |

I have found consistency sorely lacking in a number of spheres. Hypocrites abound! I did notice all the red equals on FB but I haven't been paying much attention on there so I don't know the whole scoop. |

Do you know anything about the Silver Springs MD area by any chance? Specifically around the NIH/ Walter Reid area? The job would be an awesome opportunity or a nightmare. It is as a lab manager for a brand new PI but it is at the Walter Reid Army Institute of Research. It would have to be a really sweet offer though as it would mean being separated form my family for a while which I am not too keen on.

(my husband included, unfortunately) if you don't choose where you live carfully you will spend your life commuting, but silver spring is on a Metro line which makes things easier. IN silver spring, lots of things to do. you are only maybe 2 hours from some nice mountains to get away from the DC insanity. crewing/rowing is pretty popular in DC so you should be able to find that there. i wouldn't be able to say a thing about schools, but college-wise it's great for lib arts/law/econ (given the location) and not so much science/tech. |

Tough location to get to and home from. You'd be looking at an hour commute. But if the benefits of job prestige and pay outweigh that; do it. |
