Subject: RE: Betsy's Tri-BAMFsOk, I'll admit that I've been reading the blogs but finally decided to join you guys again. My life has taken a big turn over the past 6 months. I was laid off from my job after 3 years and have decided to be at home with my kids for a while. My severance was a good one and has afforded me time...something I needed. Since I've been home, I'm not planning on returning to a job full time. I've realized how important it is to be here for my boys; now 6 and 12 years old. Pre-teen years are really starting to scare me.
Anyway, I am still training and have run a few 5k's this season. I'm getting ready for my first tri of the year in 2 weeks and feel good. The Rookie Tri is a sprint and an easy course so this is a good one to kick off the season. Although I'm home now, I'm still as busy as ever but I'm training 5 days a week; 2 days in the pool, 2 days on the bike and running all 5 days.
I just celebrated my 37th birthday and my husband sprung for all new race gear! I broke in my new shoes at the Texas Round Up run this weekend...the coolest part is that my son ran his first 5k with me. I think he's hooked and now wants to train for his first tri. I can't think of a better sport for him to get excited about. Anyway, I'm looking forward to a great season and I'm ready to go.
We're missing a few folks from last tri-season but good to see that others have joined. I'll start logging my training. |
