1 hr 20 mins on the trainer this morning.  Used a new DVD by Endurance films, called RIDES.  This one was their HILLS DVD.  I actually enjoyed the ride through Kentucky.  I think the hill was called something Knob.  I forget the name, but it was pretty steep.  THis is exaclt what I bought the KK Rock n Roll trainer for, so when standing and simulating a hill, I can rock the bike a little without the fear of twisting the frame.  Legs were burning.  Ran out of time as they have an extended 20 minutes of Hill Repeats.

Jeff R--  yeah, i had a pretty good shot to win this one, the guy that won it i train with alot, we are very diffrent in riding style, he is an Ironman, can go for ever, i think he went 10:13 in LP, I ride much different, i have huge acceleration/power, but my endurance is no where near his, it woulda been a good game of cat/mouse, i woulda tried to bury him with hard attacks, he woulda tried to ride me into the ground with a constant uptempo pace, in the end, i think i woulda got 2nd to him, but it woulda been close.

Carrie, this site really needs a like button "i asked for a foundation spot and got no response"  I laughed my a$$ off, that is exactly the response i woulda got......   The only thing is my quads still hurt from not being able to extend while riding, and i musta jammed the handlebar into one, cause i have a very sore spot and a big knot in one.

Jeff-y, yes i am, that is why you like me, i am cheap entertainment.

Michelle, yes, this has the ability to become local folk lore by me, i never do anything easy, thats no fun.

Where's Jenny???  Getting ready to travel for Turkey day???

Jeff (jsklarz) - I know you have a cholorine sensitivity, too.  Do you wear a nose clip?  Have you ever tried one?  I'm really getting sick of the drippy nose after swim sessions (sometimes lasting 24 hours or more), but I'm afraid a clip would really annoy me.

Tried a nose clip, but cant stand them.  I generally limit my pool WOs to 45 mins.  I take a Zyrtec about 2 hours before and 2 hours after swimming and another before bed.  I also shower well and use a netipot to clear my sinuses.  this usually works, but not always.  The best med i have found is Cingulair, but Zyrtec is cheaper on my drug plan.

Today I ran for 15 whole minutes before having coughing spasms.  Meh.

Feel better for the holiday, Jeff.

I take 24 hour Claritin, but perhaps I need something stronger.  A script from the doc.  I have a Neti Pot and haven't used it in ages.  Perhaps I'll give that a shot, too.  Don't think the nose clip is the best option for me.

So my day exploded and I've been pretty MIA.  Of course things explode at work 2 days before Thanksgiving after 3 really slow weeks.

Hoping to get home tonight and watch Biggest Loser while getting in some quality trainer time.

Question: so half is on Saturday. Do I wear my kswiss kwicky blade lights that are about 3 ounces lighter than the kayanos knowing I will get an arch blister, or wear the tride and true but heavier kayanos? Do the ounces really make a difference?

Tried an true but heavier.  3 ounces isn't going to make a difference but a blister will.

Question for everyone.  Check out these pics.  These are on shoes with less thant 150 miles each (one pair has 112 mile).  I am tearing the crap out of all the heels on all these kayanos ... What do you suggest?  I can't tie them tighter cuz then it is painful on the top of my foot.  I know my heel slips a little, probably causing this.  Should I try putting body glide or vasoline on the heel in the shoe so it doesn't grab and rip the material?

As it is, I am going to have to get 2 more pairs of shoes ready for goofy becaues these will not hold up.

Carrie I can honestly say I've never seen that.  Body Glide is an idea.  Did you get fit for those or buy them on your own?  Just curious.

Set a new mileage PR for a month this morning at 114.15

That is really weird.

Carrie -- can you post a picture of what the soles look like?  I'm curious about the wear pattern and if your foot strike is causing the issue.

I got fit for these at Roadrunner.  However, I do not wear the custom orthotics anymore. Simply too heavy and just wasn't working.  Caused alot of knee problems, so substituted for the green super feet which seem to work.  So year, stability insole in stability shoe ... weird, but I tend to role my ankles easily (and had many surgeries on my right ankle)

Will send more pics later of shoe.  This has happened to all my shoes, but seems to be happening quicker.  I got 250 or more out of the last set of 2 pairs of kayanos.  All other shoes don't have enough miles yet to see if the same issue occurs.

Anyone see this? Friend found it and was telling me about it. Pretty interesting.

http://www.trainerroad.com/

It will take your speed, etc data from your ant+ device and give you a virtual power reading. Also, will show graphs, etc at the bottom of the screen while watching stuff on netflix, hulu, itunes, and some others.

You should get away more than 250 miles out of a pair of shoes.  Hell based on this month I'd be replacing shoes every 2 months.  I don't like that idea at all.

When did you start running that much! SMACK DOWN!

Of course, I have run a sum total of 25 minutes in the past 8 days, so i am not one to talk.

Since I cant run, I ate a lot of pizza last night at Sallys (best pizza place in New Haven, and thus the world).  However, the calories don't count as it with my brother and sister -in-law, in from LA for thanksgiving.  I have a small family and it sucks that they are across the country.

Gobble gobble!

Carrie - do you have badgers in your house?  you have some seriously sharp ankles!  I am with kelly take them to the running store, there is something very wrong with the fit.  I put well over 1000 miles on shoes before replacing them and the soles wear out before the interior on well made shoes.  Personally, I do not like asics, they never feel right and I don't think they are very well made and wear either Brooks or NBs.

I have over 500 miles on my favorite pair of K Swiss Blades and they're still going strong.

I have wobbley ankles too (had my left ankle reconstructed) and I run in neutral shoes.  I'm wondering if the motion control is maybe too controlling?
