Nope, no badgers, although the way Briggs is eats stuff lately you would wonder if he I munching on my shoes ... gotta love labs (litter poops, dental cleaning goodie bag, peanut w/ plastics wrap, etc).

I actually love these shoes.  Only issue is they are a little heavy, but have fit great.  I have very weird feet so it took me a long time to find shoes that my feet like (feel good, don't cramp in them, don't blister in them, etc).  Just weird how the last several months I have done this to all the heels.

Maybe I can stop in at Roadrunner on Friday and ask ... can't hurt, and maybe I can get some more free shoes out of it!

All stability shoes ---

Asics Gel Kayano 16 - great shoe, a little on the heavy side, but I tear the hell out of the heels (see pics)

Kswiss Kwicky Blade Light - light and comfy, but I get arch blisters on these (maybe not enough miles in them yet)

Nike Lunar Glide +2 - comfy, cushy, but I get a big toe blister (maybe no enough miles in them yet)

Asics Gel 2160 - I can run in these and they are fine, but a little wider in the foot bed so I hit my calfs sometimes running.  More my training shoe

Newton Lady Isaac S - Thought I would try them, but not for me.  Very comfortable (at first) and light.  I strain my calf ever time I wear them. I firmly believe that someone needs to already be a forefoot runner to use these, otherwise they can hurt themselves (like me)

As you can see I have not found my one and only shoe yet!  I also wear green superfeet in all my shoes. Maybe that is the problem, stability shoes with extra stability ... but body doesn't hurt ... hhhmmm

I have been struggling with getting this calf issue resolved. The MRI was inconclusive so my ortho is going to find a good sports ortho clinic up in SL for an eval. It will be sometime mid December. So much lost time because I am shying away from things because I am tired of being in pain. Still looking to Tri next season.    BBSC Tri's are open for registration at Midnight good deals on all races. Thought I's share the link in case anyone is interested in any of these.  http://bbsctri.com/

I LOVE my Brooks.  I currently roll with Racer ST 5s, but their Pure Project shoes intrigue the hell out of me.  Can't decide between the Pure Connects or Pure Flows.

uhcoog - 2011-11-23 10:12 AM You should get away more than 250 miles out of a pair of shoes.  Hell based on this month I'd be replacing shoes every 2 months.  I don't like that idea at all.

When did you start running that much! SMACK DOWN!

Of course, I have run a sum total of 25 minutes in the past 8 days, so i am not one to talk.

Since I cant run, I ate a lot of pizza last night at Sallys (best pizza place in New Haven, and thus the world).  However, the calories don't count as it with my brother and sister -in-law, in from LA for thanksgiving.  I have a small family and it sucks that they are across the country.

Gobble gobble!

Someone had to pick up your slack bro.  Actually I've come to love running, weird, and since I decided to take a month away from the pool I just filled the time with running.

Jeff - Zoots are tri specific racing shoes (i think they may now make a light weight trainer too).  I race olys/sprints in Zoots and love the laceless entry and integrated in-sole.  no blister issues with no socks.  However, i (personally) would not wear Zoots for training as they are basically "barefoot" type shoes, no support or structure at all.  They are simply not comparable to a standard trainer.  I have never worn, nor know anything about KSwiss.

Mizuno Wave Alchemy for regular running

Mizuno Wave Ascend for trail running

Both are stability shoes, which is what I was fit for at the running store (video and stuff).

Seriously Carrie - what are you doing to your shoes?  That is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

I tend to wear down the outside heel on my shoes, but the insides still look brand spanking new!

Even if the shoes are too loose, and your foot is moving around in there, what could be ripping up the material?  And not tearing up your skin?

Let us know what you find out, I'm intrigued.

K Swiss Blades and Saucony Kinvaras.

Love them both.  My current KSwiss Blades are probably the best pair of shoes I've ever owned.

I've been wearing Asics Gel Nimbus 13 (newest model) and LOVE them.  I just with they were not so expensive.  I get about 300 miles out of them.  My knees start to hurt if I go too much over that.

For trail running I wear La Sportiva Crosslite and really like them.  They are very minimalist, and I can feel the larger rocks through the sole, but I like how light and comfy they are.

I'd like to try KSwiss, Karhu & Saucony Kinvara.  I've got a lot of friends who wear the Kinvara's and like them a lot.

If my stupid hamstring would ever heal I might venture out and try a new shoe.  Right now I'm in survival mode and don't want to aggravate it anymore than it already is.

I broke down and scheduled an appt. next Tuesday with the spine guy that stabbed me with cortizone in the neck earlier this year.  This hamstring/sciatic pain is not going away and I can't take it anymore.  I hope he can figure out what's wrong and fix me up before the new year.

Oh and this Paleo-ish plan blows!!!  I want carbs!

Glad I can intrigue ... It is not just the material that is ripped up, but the padding underneath gets torn out and there is when it becomes uncomfortable.  I has happened to all my Kayanos so far and I am getting less and less miles out of them by the time it happens.

I have stopped pulling my foot out without unlacing, but I still find that my socks get stuck to the shoe, almost as if it is sticking to it maybe.

More pics later my friends ...

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I will be running a little 8 mile Turkey trot I organized at the last minute here in our little community. Looks like about 25 people are committed to come and do at least part of it. Weather will be in 50's and sunny. Storms are holding off til Friday.

Carrie - good luck this weekend!!!!

Scott - crazy awesome on the run miles!

Karen - I feel your pain with the carbs...What kind of dr are you going to for your spine? I am having issues with my neck/arm and I think it is stemming from a cervical disk.

Artist - I hope you feel better soon!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!

He's a spine specialist/ortho.  I saw him almost a year ago when I was having pain down my arm and numbness in my fingers for several months.  MRI showed herniated disc in neck (C6 C7 I think).  I wasn't having any pain in my neck, just on my right shoulder blade, and several spots on my right arm.  The top of my wrist hurt so bad I wanted to curl up into a ball and cry.  It was one of the most painful things I've been through, and it took a long time before anyone thought to schedule the MRI.  I should have insisted on having one sooner.  I suggested it, but the x-rays didn't indicate the need for one.  Anyway, one cortisone injection near the disc and it finally went away.

I don't know if I'm now having a problem with my lower spine.  I don't have any back pain, but the back of my leg hurts so bad I'm wondering if there's a pinched nerve somewhere.  I just really liked this guy, and hope he can help me.

I would see an orthopedic if you have not already.  Hope it goes away soon, I know it's not fun.

3.8 mile run for me tomorrow morning.  It is in town, and no idea how many people run in this thing.  it's the first time I have heard of it. It's a point to point race.  So I need to hitch a ride back to the start when done.  I am sure I'll know someone. the reason it is point to point, is because it ends at the local lake, where a bunch of idiots jump in the feezing cold water for charity.  I may just run back to my car and make it a 7.6 mile loop.

Happy TDay

Karen, that is exactly what is going on with me....It is so painful and I am SO cranky the longer it goes on (just ask my kids). I had an MRI for this problem late last year that showed herniated disks. The dr, I saw said surgery was my only option and I said no thanks and eventually it just went away after ignoring it ( and I think I did some internet recommended exercises). It has been 2 weeks since it acutely started again and I hate it. I won't go back to that dr. I have to find an orthopedic that I trust - if I knew how, I would just inject myself!!

I hear ya, if he suggested surgery I would have looked for someone else too.  I'm fortunate that this guy is very conservative and he felt confident I would not need surgery.  (I don't think he even does surgery.)  I went through all the normal treatments, oral steroids, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, pain killers, and even a nerve study (which I do not recommend) before seeing this guy.  My other ortho, who is not a spine specialist, referred me to this guy because he couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.  I had the MRI and because I had already gone through all the other protocol he scheduled the injection which was in a clinic under slight sedation with an x-ray to guide the needle.  My pain had been going on for months though.  He did say most of the time it will go away on it's own, but mine clearly wasn't.  If the first shot didn't do it I think he said he'd do 1 or 2 more shots.

I hope you find a good doctor, or it somehow reabsorbs itself and goes away.  I was living on pain killers and kept having to call back for refills.  I'm sure my medical chart has huge notes on it that I may have a "problem" with drugs.
