Amy, I love it!!!! it makes me intensely jealous and wanting to get to my IM NOW NOWNOWNOW! Sweet deal! I've never ever been a fan of tattoos, but know for a fact that as soon as I complete my first Ironman (and can walk again), I'm heading over to the tattoo parlor!

Love the tat Amy!  I want one, but don't want the stand alone mdot, so still trying to figure out what I want.

Congrats on the running Suzie!

Where was I - first I was outside running in beautiful 75 degree weather and then I was at yoga relaxing.  Love my yoga nights.

left.right.repeat - 2012-01-31 8:32 PM Where is everybody tonight ???

Unfortunately I am working 36 hours in three days!!  Then off for 4 days! Yea!!

Got a one hour class on the bike trainer in on Tuesday night.  We did an LT field drill.  (Run by a USAT certified trainer) I came up with 175.  Not sure what it all means but that's where I am.  (Avge HR for 20 minutes at best effort after specific warm up drills.)

I am missing some awesome warm temps here on Long Island. Cry  The next few days are suppose to be a bit cooler but still warmer than normal. Cool  Will be out running at a minimum.

I too am so enjoying my training!!  I love the challenge of fitting it all in.

In all my events, races or rides, I thank every volunteer because without them, I wouldn't attempt what I do!!  The fans are great too.  I thank them also.  I am ususally the one being encouraged by others passing me but that's ok.  I love all the encouragement here! Thank you!!  Although I do have a positive focus, i am definitely going to approach my next event with a different mindset. No apologies for times!!  Jus doin it!!

I am not a big fan of ink (Or pain) but that is an awesome tat!

Have a great week everyone.

I have been Lurking and watching how everyone has been doing.

I just have to comment on the ink though.   SWEET!!!!!!  That fits you Amy.

Mav, you need an Mdot in conjunction with a shark and Lena you need an Mdot inside a gazel after all the running you are going to do this year to get a Personal Best in a marathon.  Tongue out

I wish everyone the best of luck this year on your goals.

Not a fan of ink myself.....that is until I did my full ironman.  Afterwards, I waivered on getting one or not, decided it was an important enough event in my life to mark for ever, so got it.  Now I understand when someone gets one, IF it marks something significant.  Unlike my nephew who just gets marks all the time with no meaning whatsoever.

Each to his own.   I have seen Amy's legs, and that tat doesn't do her legs justice!  Bow Chicka Wow Wow!!!!! (nice tat)

Racetat, now that thing was sweet!  I tried to write my information on my arm at Louisville, will definately have that tattoo in August!

Hey Lena...I hope you harassed John!!  He's been hiding from us!

Billy I finally got inked!  What took me so long was that I promised my son I would wait until his 18th birthday so we could get inked together.  So he had his birthday and we got our ink!  I'll attach a picture.

Yes everyone.  HAVE FUN!  ENJOY THE JOURNEY!  If you aren't having fun why would you put all the work into this?

Very Nice.... I am inkless and will probably stay that way, but I can definitely see the possibility of one if I were to ever complete an IM....  Again... very Nice...

I am going to get ready to do my first master swim session.  Have no clue where I am going, or what I should be doing but I am bound and determine to find a master swim program.

Send me lots of positive thoughts so I don't make a fool out of myself this evening.

Question for the group:

Its going to be chilly at the start of my race on sunday so I imagine I'll be wearing some sweats, etc before the race. I hear mention of "sweats check" sort of like a coat check i'm guessing near the start.

How does it work? do I need a bag to put things in? do they provide it?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Suzie - have fun.

Fit - we are gonna rock in Tempe

Jeff - you usually use your bag from packet pick up. But you have to turn in pretty early. My advice - go to Walmart or goodwill and buy cheap sweats. Drop the pants before the gun and the sweatshirt either then or as you get going and warm. Homeless and or charities usually benefit. Also buy a six pack or a pair of cheap cotton gloves. Run then thru washer a few times to soften them. Pull them off and drop them if your hands warm up. In the interim, you can wipe the snot from your runny nose on them. Enjoy.

Kathy: I am sure you rocked the masters swim

Suzie: way to go on the run, 7 minutes that is getting close to a mile!!!!

Amy: the tattoo looks cool, actually quite elegant

Had a BIG discussion with myself earlier as to whether I should take a nap or run (It was a very close call  My kids are both sick again and home from school and I had planned a 2 hour run today which became impossible to carve out of the day.  I ended up running (when my parents came over for dinner)  and am really glad I did; just 30 minutes but the weather was perfect, low 70s.

Now I am waiting for the clock to turn 8pm so I can send the kids to bed and go sleep myself....

Fit - thanks for that reminder!

I actually got outside on the bike for an hour today. We got up to 80 degrees and it was absolutely beautiful.

You will be seperated from you dry clothes bag quite some time before the starting gun sounds.  If the weather is going to be wet, you might want to wear a plastic bag to stay warm and dry before the start of the race.  The hefty trash bag comes off 1-2 minutes before the start of the race.  No point is starting the race soaked to the bone.  You won't notice the rain after you start running. You won't notice it _as much_ after you start running.

If it's going to be cold but expected to warm up when the sun comes up. Wear a recycled sweatshirt and warm head gear before the start.  A large pile of recycled clothes will appear close to the start. The race director usual donates 'lost sweats and jackets' to a local charity.   I have lucky pair of gloves, I stick them inside my shirt if it gets too warm but I've found that when I'm running long there doesn't seem to be much blood going to my hands.  They rarely overheat.

Another hint, start the race with chemical hand warmers.  They provide some comfort and absorb alot of sweat. They feel like wiping a warm cloth across your face.  I toss the first one in the trash bin near the first aid station, and then dispose of the second whenever it starts to feel heavy.  A runners mind is a wierd and wonderful place to visit.

I survived! The masters class was fun and I can tell that it will really help me out. My wrist hurts from me hitting the ropes, yes I go off course. Now I just have to figure out a way to make the class part of my weekly workout.Thank you everyone for the positive thought.

So now I can admit that my knuckles are bruised from smacking against the "handlebars" on the treadmill yesterday.  Rookie injury.  I'm just afraid if I get too far back I'll fall off.Embarassed

I'll admit that it has come to a point that I would rather go to the dentist than run on the treadmill ever again....its that boring to me....ugh. (and I have also almost fallen off whilst messing with ear buds, getting a drink, etc)
