Moving upstairs in the same apartment or a new apartment in the same building?

I'm so happy we were able to buy a house a few years ago.  I was sick to death of moving every couple of years.  I remember one year during my college tenure my roommate and I moved from the dorms to a three month summer sublease.  Then at the end of the three months we moved again to the apartment we leased for the following school year.  ugh.

Moving upstairs in a townhouse - I had the basement room. Now I'm on the top floor. I don't love having roommates, but I'm single and I don't make enough on my own that I can afford to buy anything around here. So it's smarter to rent with roommates and save a chunk of cash, rather than live by myself and pay at least twice as much for a studio apartment.

*crickets*

Hope everyone is well.

I have tennis tournaments the next two weekends, then 2 races and a 50-mile mountain ride in Sept/Oct.

Good times, good times.

According to the Clerk of Court's Office, I should be a Free Man this coming Monday, the 11th. After this week, it will be a huge relief.

It has been a bit quiet in here lately...must mean we're all out training really hard, right?

Brian - have fun playing tennis!

Anyone else have exciting weekend plans?  Racing?

I've started a new job and I'm trying to finish off my dissertation so it's hard for me to get the time to log in my training. I'm off to the States this weekend so will be MIA until Thursday night. How's everyone else getting on?

Sounds like you have a lot going on!  I'm enjoying my last few weeks of free time.  School starts again on the 25th.  Between full time work and part time school I'm looking at daily time available for training being reduced to 1 or 2 hours a day.  Blech.

I'm doing another sprint this weekend.  Should be lots of fun.  Anyone else racing?

Great ride last night. I don't have the specifics yet, but we were MOTORING through the first third of the ride.

20-ish miles, about 80-90 minutes ride time. LOTS of hills. Legs did not want to push pedals to work this morning...

Yeah, my riding has been pretty pitiful as of late. This whole "bike a whole lot this summer" thing hasn't really worked out. I wish I liked it more. I did have a nice ride last weekend. Saturday late afternoon/early evening is a great time to ride. Yes it makes me uncool, but it's fairly quiet and not as hot. The trails are crowded now even early in the morning, with running groups.

Have you managed to find a decent regular riding partner, or are you just going it alone most of the time?

Just alone. I haven't ridden with someone since late June/early July, maybe. During the week, riding with peeps is out of the question. Weekends have just been pointless since people are away, I'm away, etc.

Even one local-to-you riding pal can make a world of difference. Doesn't have to be a tri'er.

If they're a little slower than you, just say "I'm gonna hit it hard for about ten minutes or so, and I'll wait up ahead." They should be cool with that.

I'm on board with the finding a riding partner. I have made a few new friends who I ride with and it is WONDERFUL!! I hated riding earlier in the year and now I'm addicted. If you see someone at the pool (where I met my Sunday riding buddy) or wherever else you workout ask if they ride or know of groups who ride. OR call your local bike dealer - they may have a riding group. Even if you go only once you may find someone who has a schedule compatable to yours that you can become riding buddies with. My husband coached soccer this past year and at the soccer banquet I was talking with one person about how I have just started and she went and got another lady to introduce me to who then helped hook me up with a group of moms who rode 2x a week at 5 am during the summer - which was perfect for me. Now I have a network of people. The riding community is so nice. Just ask around - you never know who can open a door for you that hooks you up with a great group. It is much more fun with a friend and you will be amazed at how much you will improve when you ride with people at your level and slightly better.

Yeah, in the rare instances I ride with people, I ride with folks who are about my ability, or only a little bit better over all - or the rare few faster people who are willing either ride a bit slower or at least wait for me to catch up
