Going and getting a gait test done today.  Didnt know running was so complicated, grab a pair of shoes and hit the street.  A great way to get into shape and enjoy some alone time.  Well seems I was wrong.  Now Im injured and going to have to start over...I havent went to the doctor yet, but after doing a lot of googling, looks like I have Plantar facitis(hope spelled correct).  Says most common in overweight runners.  Im hoping that is the only problem and not a bone spur or a sign of diabities.  Anyways what ever the problem, there are solutions...so Im not out of the fight.

Well, just got back from the ortho doc.

Ankle pain has been bugging me since Nov.  In the last 3 weeks it suddenly become much worse.  My ankle became much more painful, swollen and range of motion limited.  MRI on Tuesday.  Diagnosis: Posterior tibial tendonitis.  Have to wear this horrible boot, goes almost to my knee,  for the next 3 weeks.    No running, or biking.  UG!!!!  I already am tired of wearing this thing!

Oh no. I have the boot. I hate it. But I make myself wear it when watching TV. Can't sleep with it on, like I'm supposed to. Good luck!

when I had it bad... i would use those hot/cold things from walgreens. nuke them in the microwave and put my foot on them for a few minutes... sock on of course. also... warm water, stretch etc before running. rolling foot over tennis ball etc. yep, it's common and painful but you can deal with it

runnersworld.com has a ton of stretches for it

stephsprint - 2012-03-25 8:04 PM We'll have 25,000+ at the MB Corporate run in Miami this year. It's an amazing run! The Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta gets 60,000!!! It's a 10k and I'd love to do it, but my husband just looks at me like I've got 9 heads every time I mention it. We have a place in Roswell GA... so we could take the train... I'm going to do it...

60,000!  I thought the Chicago Marathon with 45,000was crazy.   The first time I ran it I was in the open corral and it took about 25 minutes just to get to the start.

Wow!  I guess the Bay to Breakers doesn't have quite the largesss that I thought it did.  BUT we do have the naked runners!  http://baretobreakers.com/  Look at your own risk!!

you got me there. everybody down here keeps their clothes on. how dull.

Well yes doctor confirmed it.  Well I got my first knock in this sport...guess I paid my dues  lol.  Anyways had the test done and Im over pronating.  Put me in a pair of Brooks Adrinaline GT 12 along with an insert to help with my arch.  OMG...these shoes feel amazing.  My Ascis I bought he said are a good shoe, but not quite as much support as the Brooks.  Anyways Im back!!!

I am a very bad patient.
Had a horrible morning. Thunderstorms caused our outside stairwell to flood which of course went straight into the basement ....where i had a bunch of teaching stuff on the floor....which got all wet....so i laid stuff out in the other room to dry....but forgot to close the door.....dog got info stuff and ate something red (judging from his pink muzzle and front paws).... called vet, had to induce vomiting ....cleaned up several piles of nasty pink dog vomit....decided THE HELL WITH THE BOOT, I'M RIDING MY BIKE!!!!!!!

I feel better now after a good sweat but a tad guilty.

Oak

I bought the same sneakers back in January.  I certainly love mine and think they work a bit better for me than the Mzunos they replaced.  I will say it took a few weeks for them to break in.

Suzi

Sorry to hear about your ankle and I hope you find yourself mended up soon.  At least it is early enough in the year that it wont trash the season.

Anyone have anything planned for the weekend.   I've got my ussualy gym visit on Saturday and a 7 mile-ish run planned for Sunday.  Also hoping to get my daughter in the pool this weekend. Trying to get her comfortable in water before the summer hits.

Have a happy weekend!

Just signed up for 2 Triathlons. I'm going to do the 4th of July Triathlon again, and I'm going to do the Miami Man International, Nov 11th. These will be my second and third triathlons and I'm kinda ready to move forward! I will probably do another in September.

Hey all, we are now live on the Spring Group.

Yep, this was quick, but lots of people join the site in Spring, so they want mentor groups for them right away.

Come on over!!

I will still check here as well, if you'd like to stay!

That link should work. Otherwise you just go to the Forums (link above) and look for the same group name in the spring forum!
