I had a personal goal to get my post count up to 300 this month, and with the help of the TWISTERS team interaction, it looks like I can comfortably boost that goal.  Its nothing compared to some of you mega-posters, but for me, its going pretty good.

Oh I forgot to tell you I am planning on a 60+ mile cross race in the fall - I have been trying to get into it for the past couple of years but my schedule never worked out - this year I am game

It is called Iron Cross and they run it out of southern PA (Carlisle area).

I was trying to find info on the underground railroad.  I think I was on the ACA webpage, but not a lot of detail.  Is it paved or off-road?  I like the idea of biking along the historical trail though.

I was trying to make the Breck Epic this year, but once again scheduling conflicts.  I was looking into the La Ruta, but the cost was prohibitive for me this year.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-08 10:49 AM Monday's Q.O.D.

How many pairs of swim goggles do you currently own?

Since I'm pretty much a newbie to swimming, I just have one pair. Next I'm going to find me a decent swim suit or two (tri shorts?), then I'll invest in a second pair of goggles.

Highly recommend two.  Good to always have a spare for race day, especially if you are using the same pair from the pool.  Tough way to start a race if you break a goggle strap while geeting ready.

Good idea.  Never thought of that. I'll have to get me another pair.

This is good advice...I only have one pair (useable)...been thinking about another...this will push me over the edge. Plus I think I need a new pair...the aquaspheres I have are nice but it is hard to get them positioned so they don't leak...fine for swimming sets but would p!ss me off in OWS...

QOTD:

What's your favorite discipline in the Tri... And why?

(ok I guess that's too questions...)

OK, this is from yesterday, but I want to answer it anyway...I am sure nobody minds...

I am best at the run, which is nice in a way, because I am still passing at the end...but I have a feeling I will end up loving the bike more...I like the (wo)man-machine-environment interface it involves...I love the swim best when I am FINISHED with a swim workout.

This is huge for me...three posts in a row.

Thankfully got my bike in (on the trainer, but outside on my roof top deck in the sunshine, awesome) before my barf-o-rama on Saturday night. Spent yesterday in bed and today is sort of bed-y but I am feeling better. Maybe take the kids out for a walk a little later in the day. The good thing about gastroenteritis is that even though you are sure you are going to die when you have it, when it goes away, it's pretty much gone...unlike a cold or the flu which just lingers forever, ugh!

I'll still make my goal, but it will be close. I have to finish by the 25th b/c I won't have access to my bike for the last week...

I'll try to post more, but as you can tell, even three is a herculean effort for me...

Peace,

Happychick - 2010-03-07 6:10 PM Hey all! Sorry I was completely absent this past week...I felt as though I was on my death bed but am feeling much better now.

Stacie ~ to answer your question from a week ago I am moving to WA.  My hubby is retiring (Army) and has accepted a job up in Northern WA which is nice cuz we have family there!

Glad you are feeling better.

And welcome to WA (when you get here of course   )  It will be quite a change from Hawaii.

Thanks, we will be there 1 May! Yeah it will be quite a change but I'm really excited that 1. I'll finally be back on the Mainland, 2. We will be by family, and 3. I'll finally be back on the Mainland...wait, did I already mention that?!  Anyway, I'm thinking we might be 1/2 Canadian when we move there as we will literally be living on the border!

Sundays QOTD

I would have to say the bike right now...just because I think it's the most fun and has a little bit of danger in it.  But the run and swim are a close second just because I'm making improvements in all three areas

Honesty. I'm not sure...  I am currently using my light blue swedes with an upgraded strap.  I broke two pairs of goggles last season (the strap couldn't handle a hot car) so I think that I am down to just one backup pair.  They are a pair of swedes tinted dark with a mirror finish.  I only use them for outdoor pool swims on a bright day.  I have the parts from the other goggles and could throw another pair together if I had too.

Sorry that you were feeling so crummy.

I'd like to welcome you to WA too.    We will have to do a group ride when you get here.

I will be taking you up on that, thanks!

Oh how I would love to be able to answer "the swim" on this one but I will go with the bike instead!  Why? Because I am already a strong (ish) runner (running is my "happy place") but with the bike I am learning to love it and its great to see how strong I can be during a race after my usual snail paced swims!

Can you tell I'm playing catch up?!  Anyway, did I mention that my race schedule is all but out the window this year?  One reason is cuz of my move but the biggest reason right now is that my shoulder is jacked up.  I had a few tris planned before leaving in May but since I got to the point with the shoulder (impingement syndrome) that I couldn't even move my arm, I opted for a cortisone shot last week and some major rehab.  Needless to say, I am concentrating on running this year and am planning on doing my first marathon in WA ~ Bellingham Bay!   Aside from that, I will be playing the race scene by ear!

Had to catch up with a few posts!!  Whew!!!

Dee....love the new bike!!!  Are you going to get clipless pedals and shoes?

Favorite tri sport.....running.

Number of goggles.....too many to count from before I got pregnant.  Clear, smoke, mirrored, leaky, broken.  You name it.  I've got the perfect pair for any condition!
