I did not know about the first one being free, BUT... I definatelt PAID for it ...for several days! I ended up having to have 3 enemas and it took until Thursday before I was feeling normal.  BOY DID I LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT NUTRITION THERE!!

I am grateful to feel much better and am back on the training.  Feeling strong!

Fast or slow doesn't REALLY matter, we are doing things that very few in the world get to do.

Keep it up the good work ya all!

Not sure who still checks in here, but I'll throw this out there, anyone looking for an amazing fuel source for the body on longer training/events - tryout the Hammer Nutrition Cafe-latte Perpetuem - I had it back in March on a 65 mile ride, it nearly froze, so I wrote of the good taste and extra energy I had to the cold (22F) temps, but I've used it several times since then, all on 60+ mile rides and the drink is really good, even on warmer days.  I don't like coffee flavor at all, but there is something about this mix that my body craves now, and the fuel source is AWESOME - it is nice and steady, no peaks and crashes, just keeps you going at mile 60 as if you were only 20 minutes in to the ride.

You mix the stuff according to your weight (due to the calories contained in the mix) and you DO NOT count this drink as part of your hydration - so you carry a water bottle too. (At 205 pounds, I use two scoops for every hour of duration - a 4 hour ride is 8 scoops into 1 water bottle and fill the rest of the space with water - it gets really thick and you only take a small sip at a time).  I still think it is the BEST when semi-frozen, so I might try a little freezer action before my next ride.

Hope this helps someone.

Good to hear about the perpetuem.  I just ordered some to try (but not the cafe-latte flavor, I think it was orange vanilla - sort of creamsicle-like) because a friend knows somebody that uses it in the later miles of long runs and really likes it.  I figure it can't hurt to try!  I will definitely try the freezer thing...

Thanks!

Courtney

I really wish I could run consistantly - I feel like my shins are headed down a very nasty path of shin splints.  They are not killing me yet, but I feel the dull buring and an occasional twinge of pain shoot through the lower leg.  I need to start back with the 5k's and slowly build up again.
