What did you think of the course? Compared to the hills we have here in Georgia, I don't think they are that bad ... except for the long out and back. I've already started doing my "we want a cold front" dance. I figure if I start now and do it every day, then come August 26th we should have much cooler temps! |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I call that the "drop your chain hill" comes up like surprise!!!I managed 110 miles Sat and 13 miles Sunday running. The iamtri group was entirely essential. I would never had gotten thru it. Definitely needed to stop and stand in shade several times to cool off (on the second time of Ballard I stopped and stood in the shade of one lonely tree). La Grange the 2nd time is brutal. Also the roads are terrible, much worse than 2 years ago. I lost a bottle cage at mile 104! River Road was the worst. And the L'ville drivers? Horribly rude.I HIGHLY recommend doing the course only in a group. It is dangerous to out there solo in the traffic.I do love the race and area, but this race will get dropped I'm afraid if the conditions keep worsening. |

How are things Turtlegirl met you and a friend in 2010 at the swim practice.
I remember that hill on Ballard school road. That one is not long but its really steep. |

Sorry I missed meeting you turtlegirl this weekend. Wow....you did 110 miles Saturday, good for you! You are right the iamtri group is wonderful and very beneficial, it was a drive for me to get up there this past weekend, but well worth the trip. I was in town not only to train on the course but also for my sorority convention and I found out I got home faster then those flying. Road conditions are terrible, worse I have ever seen. If there is no planning on getting them fixed now then they will not be done in time for race day. Traffic was terrible but I am hoping that was just due to the holiday weekend. |

Elite 3770 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Yes we drove 10 hours one way to get there! We were thinking of writing the race director to get her to plead for some patching at the very least. The out and back was the nicest part, and during the race I remember that being the worst part safety wise!I highly recommend going to join that group. Bob and crew are simply amazing. |

I saw in the race lots of folks drop their chains. Hence my nickname! I personally think the one on Old Sligo is much worse! Just a steep little ba$+@rd!Which hill? Old Sligo or Ballard School? |

Expert 1203 | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Other than River Rd. I don't recall a lot of rough spots. Sorry to those of you that encountered some rude drivers. There are a very vocal few in Oldham County that are creating a rift between cyclist and drivers. This includes working towards legislation that would restrict cycling on these roads. We just need to continue to do our part and be considerate and polite to our motorist friends and all of this will blow over soon enough. I see a couple of you stayed for the run on Sunday. Much nicer and easier than the ride on Saturday and a few of us swam with the local tri club, Louisville Landsharks, Sunday morning as well. We will also be swimming on Monday nights from the IM Start at Tumbleweed out and back, about 1 mile if you are in town in the future and would like to join us. Next time if you see the little short dude with binary code tattooed on his arm, stop me and say hello. |

Mega hours is coming up over the next few weeks, so those figures will hopefully be way bigger come the end of July. I have only really been ticking over with the training, but my friend had been over visiting, so once he leaves after the weekend, i can knuckle down and get some serious long sessions in.
Hows everyone else getting on, many distractions? |

Hows everyone else getting on, many distractions? My only distraction has been a pulled muscle. I ran 14 on Saturday and felt great get home and step out of the shower and then BOOM muscle gone in my back. |

Next time if you see the little short dude with binary code tattooed on his arm, stop me and say hello. I agree with a previous post and I have said it before (although JAParker disagrees with me), I doubt that Louisville will be around much longer. Oldham County is the wealthiest county in Kentucky (48th in the nation) and as we all know $ talks. I have relatives in the area and they don’t want Ironman there plain and simple. LaGrange gets some $ from Ironman but I am sure that it is minuscule compared to what some of the locals pay in taxes alone. It’s sad because this race holds a special place for me as it was my first Ironman post chemotherapy in 2007. We are 51 days from race day and it’s still not sold out. I ran some numbers based on the last participant list and there were still less than 2400 participants singed up. I thought that all of the caps for Ironman races was now 3000 (some might be more). I am guessing that it will not sell out. |

Hows everyone else getting on, many distractions? I am suffering from a bit of an "Ironman Meltdown" as I call it, where I am feeling a bit overwhelmed at what is still ahead of me and exhausted from what I have already done. I have 3 100 milers done and a 120 miler next weekend followed by what I hope to be one last 100 the following week. Pair that with the rest of training, work stress and this heat and I am a bit...drained. I went through the same emotional roller coaster this time last year for IMFL, I am hoping a lighter load this weekend will help recharge my batteries and help me focus through the last tough part. |

Ever since that race finished I have been Offline and training. I suppose it's about time to start talking with you fine folks about this one. Looking forward to it. I am driving in with a group of about 20 triathletes from Kansas City. It will be a fun weekend. Hopefully I can meet some of you while I am out there. |
