Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us?It was a challenge, but the streak is intact. Day 12 down. Between work, waiting on line for gas, and just general dealing with the aftermath of the hurricane I had to be really creative to get all my runs in. I had to stick to mostly short neighborhood runs for safety reasons, there were no traffic lights, and downed trees and power lines. I did get one long run in 2 days ago. I convinced my wife that I could scout to see what was open and not have to burn gas. Also, I had to run on the day of the hurricane, a few hours from the real peak of the storm. Initially, I went out into a very strong headwind and stinging rain, and was just having fun. But on the way back, I did get nervous because I started to see more flying debris and had a genuine fear that something was going to hit me in the back of the head. I did underestimate the power of a storm like this. I probably won't do that again. I say probably, because I do have some vague plan of using body armor and a helmet. I guess we will see how long this streak goes. |
