I know it is hard to give up on family, but sometimes you just have to let them go.  I think I took it as a bad text towards runners also.  Maybe it wasn't meant that way, and was just meant as an update for you to try and find out more information about the event in case you had friends running in it.

amen.  i try not to do that, but it's my MOTHER.  my sister and i are the only people left that give a crap about her, and we wonder why i struggle with anxiety!

Oh I know exactly what you mean. Been there in a different way with my dad. You can't change them you can only change how you react to them. Even that is difficult when they know you so well that they can push every one of your buttons.

have my BAA pin on my white coat lapel, wearing the race shirt from sunday's race and oh so sad

until I moved to NY 2 years ago I worked the finish line med tent at the Boston Marathon - recognized some of the faces in the pictures as they instead had to work a war zone

I am so sad
